The Six Sample-Sized Products in Benefit’s New Primping With the Stars Face Kit Should Make Working With or Without Celebrities Easier

The new $32 Primping With the Stars kit from Benefit

Where am I…?

What is this strange place?

It’s as if, when I walked through that door, I came out in a different universe, a parallel dimension, a nexus, if you will, of time and space, where the impossible is possible.

Back in the universe where I came from, primping with the stars — at least the one particular plus-size feline celebrity I’m familiar with — often took hours, days and sometimes even weeks.

Based on my star-primping experience, which involved prepping a superstar kitty supermodel for all the major awards shows, it was always a chore, but Benefit designed this kit to change that.

They filled the $32 Primping With the Stars kit with six sample-sized products from their permanent line, hand selected to fake a flawless face in mere minutes. In the kit, you get Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray Eye Primer, The POREfessional face primer, Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter, their Some Kind-A Gorgeous cream foundation in Medium, one Benetint lip and cheek stain, and a tube of They’re Real mascara.

Two of the products in this kit are Benefit favorites of mine — Benetint, which I’ve been using off and on as a blush since 1998 (!), and Girl Meets Pearl, a dope-@ss warm golden pink highlighter I wear a lot beneath foundation or mixed with tinted moisturizers and lotions.

The other products here — the eye primer, mascara, face primer and foundation — I’ll use if they’re around, but I probably wouldn’t reach for them over NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance face primer or Chanel Le Volume mascara.

One thing — if you like the way you look in light beige and need a new foundation, the kit comes with Some Kinda-A Gorgeous cream foundation in Medium. Hopefully it works better for you than me, because on my tan skin it looks a little ashy.

All in all, I think this is a pretty good kit of fairly wearable products, probably a little more wearable overall than the products in Do the Bright Thing… I just don’t know if I’d call the kit lust-worthy, ya know?

If Monday was a dragon, we slew it

You did a great job today. 🙂 I hope I wasn’t the only person to tell you that, but it’s true. You here reading this now tells me that you made it in one piece, which is quite an accomplishment for a Monday.

I actually managed to cross most of the things off my to-do list today and even squeezed in a workout. Tonight, I was hoping to make it over to Old Navy to look at sweaters because I realized this morning that I don’t have any cute holiday-ish ones, but then the couch caught me with its tractor beam.

Dang, that thing is powerful…

Maybe I’ll try Old Navy again tomorrow. I don’t know exactly what kind of sweater I’m looking for, but maybe something tasteful with a little shimmer or sparkle that I can just throw into the wash (because dry cleaning is such a pain).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m also on a search for a new holiday sweater, so let me know what you find. I need a green one. Last year a found a really nice red sweater with some shimmer at Macy’s.

Karen 🙂 You make highlighters look so good.

Btw, Loft is having a sweater sale. I think it was buy 1 get the 2nd one on 50%. Their sweaters are quite classic but very comfortable. You might find something you like and they have online shopping so you can do it from your couch 🙂

I love the mascara in that kit, it’s the only one I use at the moment.

Everything looks great on you, as usual, but I can’t get too excited about Benefit for myself. I know it’s not their fault that I’m old and wrinkly, but I was so bummed about High Beam putting a spotlight on my “fine lines” that I just can’t forgive them. 😉

I wish they would stop including the foundation in medium. There has been quite a few kits that I would have ordered if it came with a fair foundation instead.

    P.S. Hi Tabs!!!

Seems silly to include foundation in a kit like this! Definitely limits the people who will be interested in it. I’m far too pale for this one. >:(

Benefit seems to release the same products in a million different ways, doesn’t it?

Man…Benefit is cranking out the kits. I really wish they would make more of effort with shades.

Another adorable set from Benefit. I really like their sets a lot, and I find that even though its a sample size, for products like the liquid highlighters and tints, a little goes a long way so they last FOREVER anyways! Great value!

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
