Quint-Essentially Dior: I’ve Got Designs on the Nude Pink Design Palette

September 7th, 2010 by Karen 65 Comments

dior nude pink design swatches review

It’s a little funny to me that Dior calls this 5-Colour Designer All-in-One Artistry Palette “Nude Pink Design” ($58), seeing as how there isn’t a lot of pink in its design.

Like the four other quints in the All-in-One Artistry line, Nude Pink Design comes with three powder shadows, a cream liner and a cream base. A little mascara and you’re good to go. 🙂

As for the pink, well, it’s there, hiding within a few of the shades…

  • a shimmery taupe eyeshadow
  • a shimmery peachy pink eyeshadow
  • a sheer, glittery peachy pink eyeshadow
  • a shimmery pinkish beige cream base
  • a shimmery purplish brown cream liner

You might remember another Dior quint with a similar name. Dior released the Dior 5-Colour Designer All-in-One Artistry Palette in Pink Design (sans the “Nude”) earlier this summer, but if you had trubs with that palette’s cool-toned pink and purple shades, you might have better luck with this one’s warmer palette.

Oh, and if you’re torn between what’s behind Door No. 1 (Pink Design) and Door No. 2 (Nude Pink Design), give some thought to where you might wear the colors. The Pink Design palette feels more like a party quint with its POPS of purple, whereas the Nude-ly named one feels more like an everyday product to me.

I think I’ll get a lot of use out of the colors in Nude Pink, but the price ($58) drives a stake right through my vampire heart (yep, I’m going through True Blood withdrawals).

Dior always delivers, though, when it comes to the quality of their shadows. They apply with lots of pigment, blend easily and never look like makeup cake on the skin. Available at Saks Fifth Avenue and online at saksfifthavenue.com. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+/A-

You might like the Dior Nude Pink Design palette if…

  • You can swallow the unpalatable $58 price
  • You love the way you look in warm peachy pink and taupe
  • You like the convenience a quint like this provides
  • You’re already a fan of Dior

“You broke my heart, Fredo…”

How was the rest of your Tuesday? So far I’m loving the compressed week… Today flew by in a blur!

I just finished my workout, and now I’m settling down to watch The Godfather: Part II. Whatcha up to tonight?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh, that looks GORGEOUS! I’ve not taken the plunge yet on a Dior palette (that cost is a bit hard to swallow), but the next time some kind friend gives me a Sephora gift certificate….. hmmm….

This would be a great quad to add to your wish list. 🙂 Even though it’s quite pricey you could easily work it everyday, especially if you love warm shades.

I always hear about everyone’s favorite Dior quint being this one or that one, but I never really found one that screamed “love!” to me. But this one is soooo on my list!! That purpley taupe color is killing me.

Dior quinst are very pretty. I agree that almost $60.00 for a quint of eyeshadows is a lot of money to put up front but breaking it up it costs less than $12.00 per shadow (cheaper than 1 MAC). Unfortunately, being a student again $58 for a palette is way to much for me right now, no matter how the cost is divided. 🙁

The Pink Design palette’s fabulous… I especially love the purple liner. Do you think you might get it?

As for TB, thank goodness it got better this season. Now if only the writers would reinstate Tara to her previous @ss kicker status…

Oh I’m SO tempted to get that Pink Design. August and the Festival were financially painful, so I might have to be careful this month if I’ve money left at the end of the month I’m definitely getting it!
Actually, I might stop by the counter this weekend just to, you know, look at it, and drool maybe.. 😛

And yes yes, Tara is becoming incredibly annoying and whiny (c’mon, just get over that loser from season 2). I miss the friendship between the two girls and the brother/sister relationship, I thought those were bringing the show together..

Their kitchen is open late, which I LOVE since we are late eaters. Just FYI the waiter/bartender told us that the weekends are super-busy, starting Thursdays. It’s not a very big place. Last night was great, practically empty and the music was really mellow.

I am so vicariously living through your meals right now. I’ve been eating salads and soup… it’s been quite depressing.

I haven’t had any issues with the liner or the base when I start with a layer of Urban Decay Eden. Yesterday I found out the liner works great as an eyeshadow base too, btw.

If it makes you feel any better, I just had a really boring soup for lunch. I buy three or four of those microwavable soups at a time and stash them in my desk for emergencies. The last time I bought them, I accidentally bought the low-sodium version. They’re terrible!

Very pretty, and I must say that they look much more pink in your swatches than in the pan. I was examining the veins on my wrists for a few minutes to decide “blue or green?” and then realized I didn’t need to figure it out right now since a Chanel quint is not in my immediate future!

Ah, the Godfather… I love the original and like #2 very much too. 🙂

I agree – I’m usually VERY disappointed in sequels too. The Empire Strikes Back/ Return of the Jedi are the only others I can think of right now (and honestly, I could have done without the Ewoks). 🙂

I haven’t read the books, but should. Have you read Mockingjay yet? (The 3rd in the Hunger Games series). I’m late in picking that up. I just finished Never Let Me Go, and I don’t understand the gushing reviews. The movie is due out this month (Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley). I’m interested to see how they adapt it. I feel a bit drowsy just typing about it!

I felt the same way about Never (and so did my friend who read it first). We said the only thing that kept us going was that annoying “and that’s why what happened next was so surprising”! 🙂

The gals here had said good things about The Hunger Games and I liked that series a lot. I just have to pick up Mockingjay.

If you haven’t read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series yet, I recommend that too. The first 50 or so pages of Girl are killer-boring, but once you get through that, it’s worth it. 🙂

NO! I’ve been planning on ordering it online… I want to get it along with The Godfather novel. I figure it’s time I read it already!

It’s a tough call on Never. I didn’t hate it, but it left me feeling “meh”. On the other hand, it got so many glowing reviews that I kept wondering if there was something wrong with me. The author is Kazuo Ishiguro, who wrote Remains of the Day. It’s very simply written and an easy read, but I didn’t find the characters engaging. And I’m usually the crazy girl on the plane who has to look out the window while either giggling or crying while reading.
