QUESTION: What’s better than a fantabulous smokey eye look?
ANSWER: A fantabulous smokey eye look with a twist!
There are so many reasons to like Sonia Kashuk’s new four-piece Precious Gems Lip, Liner & Nail Set, like the price (just $12.99), and Sonia’s contemporary take on the mixed metal theme…

…but my top reason, by far, is the liquid eye liner that comes with the set. It’s a metallic, rosy golden taupe with a mirror-like shine that illuminates lash lines like Hollywood special effects.
Remember the gorgeous Chanel Rose Platine eyeliner from spring 2011? Well, this metallic meistro is like a liquid liner version of that.
I almost can’t believe the set is only $13, because it kinda looks like something Coco would do (and sell for considerably more!).
To take a pair of smokey eyes for a metallic walk on the wild side, just do your regular smokey eye look first (here I’m wearing MAC Patina Eyeshadow on top of a base of MAC Feline Eye Kohl). Then, line your upper lash lines with the liquid liner from the set.
The stuff is packed with metallic pigment, so one or two layers should do the trick.

And because I’m not done gushing about this liner yet (because I like it that much!), it’s also thicker than most liquid liners I’ve used, almost like a cream, and consequently very easy to control. No dripping or dribbling all over the place.
And once it sets, it doesn’t roam. Not even if it gets wet. They might as well have called it waterproof (even though I don’t think they do).
As for the other pieces in the set, which is a limited edition holiday release, I think they’re also pretty cool.
Along with the liner, you get two shimmery mini nail polishes — one, a silvery taupe, and the other, a rosy golden taupe — and a sheer, non-sticky golden gloss with a moisturizing formula (unscented and unflavored).
You should be able to get away with a single coat with either of the polishes, but don’t forget your base and top coats, as Sonia’s polishes tend to chip rather quickly when I forget to use them.
If you’ve ever chanted, “Smokey eye till I die!!” don’t miss this budget-friendly kit.
PRICE: $12.99
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Target stores (but I haven’t yet seen it online)
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (I do think the nail polishes could stand to be a little sturdier on their own)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
I really like the nail polishes, but I’m not too sure I can pull that liner off! Maybe I can if I line my waterline properly, like what you did here. Very fierce and gorgeous, Karen!
Wow! I am loving that liner! I think I may have the Golden Ticket polish (name looks familiar, I picked it up looking for Two Cents, but Two Cents was sold out). Very fierce and beautiful, Karen!
I have Smoke ‘n Mirrors polish and love it. It has a great consistency.
I may have to pick this up. I love metallics, and the idea of an easier to control liquid liner is very appealing to me.
I have seen it online a few days ago and I was thinking how cute the set is and here you are rocking it 🙂 I guess I’m going to Target tomorrow.
your earrings…..gosh your earrings!!

Amazing look you’ve created with this set Karen. I’m very interested in the liner- it reminds me of Illamasqua Surge cream shadow, but sounds a lot more long lasting.
Your eyes are so beautiful!
That eyeliner is pretty fabulous–I wouldn’t mind buying that if it came by itself. But the whole set? Eh. Especially because of the 2 polishes. Don’t get me wrong–they’re pretty and all, but I’ve had BAD experiences with Sonia Kashuk polishes. I mean scary bad–I never knew a polish could be so horrendous, which sucks because I usually love most everything Sonia Kashuk puts out. Ah well, there are always a few duds in every line, I suppose.

That is a great look for you Karen. One of the best I’ve seen on you. Loving the silver.
OMG – is it really like Rose Platine?!?! I LOOOOOOOOOVE that liner! I am forever looking for dupes of it, since I only bought one pencil. It’s the PERFECT way to make my eyes pop without making it look like I am really wearing makeup. I use it for the lowest key days. I went to Target yesterday, looks like I will be heading back in a few minutes. And if you’re right, I’ll probably end up buying many backups of this one!
I really like the eye liner for some cool holiday looks!
