Performing Now, for Your Viewing Pleasure, the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen Taster Trio

October 8th, 2011 by Karen 21 Comments

I know, I know, and I agree. Some Pixi pieces, cute as they are, don’t always seem like great values. It’s true. But before you file away the limited edition Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen Taster Trio into your “Ooh, that’s spendy!” category, check this out: it’s only $12.

To top it off, I think the three petite waterproof pencils it contains — a shimmery purple, a matte brown and a matte black — are kindasorta great.

Their smooth texture and intense pigment remind me of the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-Ons, and once I get them along my lash line, BAM! They aren’t going anywhere, even when I wear them without primer.

Other things I like about ’em…

  • They don’t contain parabens, mineral oils or preservatives
  • They DO contains vitamin E and natural pigments
  • They weren’t tested on animals

And I’d be lavishing even more praise upon them if they lasted longer along my waterline, but I think that’s their kryptonite — the waterline. I tried them repeatedly, but they gave up the ghost quickly (and made my eyes tear up a little.

Even though I’ll probably only be using them along my lash line, I really do like the way they look, feel and wear there. With the trio, I see a nice holiday stocking stuffer for a makeup obsessed friend.

PRICE: $12
AVAILABILITY: Coming next month to Target stores and also online

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. What are you up to today? I just finished a quick run, and then spent about 15 minutes bird watching at the window with Tabs (one of his favorite pastimes). Now I think I’ll head down to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Hope you’re having a nice weekend so far. 🙂

these look so pigmented! I think for 12$ the lack of staying power on the waterline is excusable. there aren’t many liners that stay on mine anyway.

I’ve actually loved these pen(cils) a long time (I have black and deep plum), and I am particularly fond of their staying power–i.e. their staying DARK power throughout the day. There is nothing worse than doing a smokey look that ends up looking just plain smudgey and light by the end of the day!

I’ll be snatching up this set, I think, very quickly!

I have such a soft spot for purple liners that I may have to check these out, especially with the long staying power. I wear contacts and always avoid wearing liner on the water line for fear it may not stay. Any recommendations on brands that actually stay on the waterline?

hi mn! I wear contacts too and have yet to find a perfect brand that’ll stay on my waterline, but in terms of pencils, Urban Decay and MUFE seem to do a decent job. (UD’s Perversion is fantastic but it can’t be bought on its own.) I’ve found it also helps to set them with a matching eyeshadow. also, Inglot’s gel liner does wonders (when it’s not on my contacts) on my waterline too!

Mmm, Cheesecake Factory! What’s your favorite flavor of cheesecake? I’m an Oreo cheesecake kinda girl, and the hubby likes their Tiramisu one.

The colours look really nice. It’s a shame that they are not effective on the waterline.

Such a great value with such useful colours. You know, come to think of it, it’s been years since I wore any liner on my waterline. I’d just line the upper and lower lash line.

awww….i always line my waterline but i haven’t found the perfect pencil for that yet ;)) nice colors tho. i know waterproof ones aren’t good for that area….ironically because then they smudge….so yeah. hope i’ll afford an expensive one today tho i think there isn’t much of a diff :))

It’s pricey, but I’ve been using Chanel Le Crayon Khol # 61 Noir for such a long time. I have sensitive eyes, and this is great. It’s just a really nice khol liner which does what it should (and works well no the waterline).

Honestly, I love these pencils. The first time I used them, I used way too much and made a mess, but now it’s my go-to/in-a-hurry/after-workout eye pencil. A little goes a long way, and it really doesn’t budge on the lash line. this and some mascara and I am good to go. Love it! I just wish there was a retailer near me, I have to order from the UK site.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
