The $7.50 NYX Adorable Shadow Palette Is Darling, Dahhhling

February 12th, 2014 by Karen 18 Comments

NYX Adorable Palette
Cray-cray adorbs! The new NYX Adorable Palette.

“This palette is just darling, dahhhhling.”

Why, yes, I have been watching too much Bravo.

What gave it away? Was it the way I said “dahhhling” like Lisa Vanderpump from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills? Because that’s how this new spring eyeshadow palette makes me feel.

NYX Adorable Palette
Hey there, cutie!

With its cute crop of neutral browns, beiges and a dreamy pinkish peach, this palette has adorable written all over it.

No, really, it does. Right there on the front of the packaging. “Adorable.” Says it right there. 🙂

Anywho, don’t these six powder shadows look great together? I can see them working in a bunch of neutral looks.

Like this here pinkish brown smokey eye I’m sporting today…

That’s Bobbi Brown’s Illuminating Bronzing Powder in Antigua on the apples of my cheeks and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light on my upper cheekbones.

I’m also wearing MAC Smolder Eye Khol on my water lines and upper lash lines, MAC Brun Eye Shadow in my brows and MAC Extended Play Gigablack Mascara on my lashes.

NYX Adorable Palette
On my lips, MAC Shock Value Pro Longwear Lip Pencil, MAC Modesty Lipstick and MAC Flare for Fantasy Cremesheen Glass

So I know that two of these colors look pretty glittery in those swatches (down at the bottom) and their pans, but for some reason that glitter isn’t obvious on my lids.

It’s a little strange… The glitters look almost matte (at least on me). I don’t mind at all. It’s just not what I expected. I think of this entire palette as matte.

These shadows remind me a lot of Tarte’s. Like Tarte’s shadows, they’re moderately pigmented and easy to blend, and the powders themselves seem similarly fluffy, too, so if you aren’t careful about unloading any excess from your brush first, you might also get some fallout…

I wasn’t careful enough about that today, and I ended up with shadow all over the place (whoops!). Good thing I did my eyes before applying foundation. 🙂

You know, I like this palette, especially for everyday wear. I think it’s cute, wearable and fabulously priced (it’s only $7.50!). Just watch out for that fallout, and be prepared to do a little layering if you want something intense.

PRICE: $7.50

Looks like a great, easy, and well priced palette for someone wanting to start trying smoky looks (but who still wants some ‘everyday’ looks from the same palette!

I like that you can do work appropriate stuff as well as sexy stuff with it. Kinda seems like a matte version of Naked 3.

Karen, I love this eye look and what you’ve done with this palette! AND, I’m LOVIN’ the lip combo. I don’t have any of those lip products … (someone needs to do a little online shopping while she’s stuck at home during the snow storm in NY — jus’ sayin’)… 😉

    Lovely!

You’re looking ah-mazing as always Karen. I’m loving how you did your eyes. Can we please get a tutorial on this look. Or you could just tell which makeup brushes you used for eyes, everything’s blended so beautifully.

I absolutely love this look that you created, Karen! This would be such a cute date night look! I think I’ll be going to Ulta soon to pick up this palette, and possibly the NYX Sex Bomb palette that you reviewed also. At $7.50, this palette is quite a bargain. 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
