I would have been a poor product prognosticator because I never — never! — expected to see an Urban Decay skin care line. No, a career as a fortune teller is clearly not in my immediate future.
A skin care line from Urban Decay. That is NOT what I expected, but it’s kinda cool, because when I think of UD, I think of color, glitter and crazy lipstick. I picture putting everything and the kitchen sink on my face, and sure, they also have the Naked palettes, but when I think of Urban Decay at its core, I think of bold, bad-@ss makeup.
Even though skin care seemed a little out of left field to me at first, it doesn’t anymore after seeing the products. There are seven in all, ranging from $15-28 each, and they’re divided into two groups — 1) products to prepare your skin for makeup, and 2) another group of products to remove your makeup.
And the products really are true to UD’s makeup roots, because they’re focused on preparing skin for face paint and helping it look its best. And then also on helping you remove everything you just put on.
First, there’s the skin-prepping products, of which there are four, and that group is called Rehab Makeup Prep.
The four Urban Decay Rehab Makeup Prep products
Rehab Makeup Prep Pretty Gritty Skin Polish ($28) — Rehab Makeup Prep Pretty Gritty Skin Polish is a powder exfoliator to help smooth out your skin and remove any flakes, and it’s made with vanilla seeds for a touch of grit (it also smells amazing…like a vanilla milkshake, YUM).
To use it, just pour about a dime-sized amount into your palm, add a little water to make a paste, use that to wash your face, and then rinse.
I like it. It makes my skin feel smooth, clean and not tight, but I could easily live without it. It doesn’t really rock my world.
Urban Decay Pretty Gritty Skin Polish Ingredients
Sodium Bicarbonate, Tapioca Starch Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Citric Acid, Rosa Canina Seed Powder, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Vanilla Planifolia Seed Powder, Aqua / Water, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Sulfate, Ascorbic Acid, Cocos Nucifera Oil / Coconut Oil, Polymethylsilsesquioxane.
Rehab Makeup Prep Pore Refining Peel ($26) — Apply this 10-minute peel-off face mask after cleansing wherever you have problem skin, and my goodness! My pores look dramatically smaller after I use this.
I don’t have the patience to peel it off, though…so I usually just rinse away the last bits.
I LOVE this, and I’m going to use it whenever I have a big event to go to or have to take some important pics.
Urban Decay Pore Refining Peel Ingredients
Aqua / Water, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Cellulose Gum, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Butylene Glycol, Saccharum Officinarum Extract / Sugar Cane Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Allantoin, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Pistacia Lentiscus Gum / Mastic Gum, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil / Jojoba Seed Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Ceramide Np, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hamamelis Virginiana Water / Witch Hazel Water, Glycosphingolipids, Disodium EDTA, Viscum Album Extract / Mistletoe Fruit Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Juniperus Communis Fruit Extract, Arctium Majus Root Extract, Mentha Piperita Extract / Peppermint Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Extract, Mel Extract / Honey Extract, Hypericum Perforatum Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Root Extract.
Rehab Makeup Prep Hot Springs Hydrating Gel ($28) — Hot Springs Hydrating Gel is a lightweight, water-based moisturizer for all skin types, and it absorbs quickly. It plumps your skin and makes your canvas smooth and ready for makeup (it seems to slightly smooth out my pores).
I think this is a pretty good pre-makeup moisturizer, but it’s not quite moisturizing enough for my dry skin.
Urban Decay Hot Springs Hydrating Gel Ingredients
Aqua / Water, Dimethicone, Dipropylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer, Pentylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Sodium Citrate, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Disodium Edta, Sodium Hyaluronate, Soluble Collagen.
Rehab Makeup Prep Lip Love ($15) — Lip Love tastes and smells like coconut juice! This thick, super moisturizing bad-@ss balm isn’t sticky, and it’ll get your lips ready for action again.
Urban Decay Lip Love Ingredients
Ricinus Communis Oil / Castor Seed Oil, Olus Oil / Vegetable Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter / Shea Butter, Cera Alba / Beeswax, BIS-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Synthetic Beeswax, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil / Sunflower Seed Oil, Aroma / Flavor, Cocos Nucifera Oil / Coconut Oil, Menthyl Lactate, Tocopherol, Glycine Soja Oil / Soybean Oil, Stevia Rebaudiana Extract, Limonene, Citric Acid.
The three Urban Decay Makeup Meltdown Remover products
Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray ($26) — This makeup removing spray is no joke! I love it, love it, love it. Two spritzes on a clean cotton pad removes everything — foundation, concealer, brow makeup, waterproof mascara, long-wearing liquid liner, liquid lipstick. SERIOUSLY, EVERYTHING. And it does it fast without irritating my eyes at all.
This is my hands-down favorite thing in this launch, and if there’s anything to get from this collection, I think this is it.
Urban Decay Dissolving Spray Ingredients
Cyclopentasiloxane, Caprylyl Methicone, Tocopheryl Acetate.
Meltdown Makeup Remover Cleansing Oil Stick ($26) — Most oil-based makeup removers are liquid, so this travel-friendly oil-based stick remover is quite clever. You apply it when your skin is dry, massage it in, add a little water to loosen things up, and then rinse.
The only thing is…it’ll remove foundation, concealer, blush, etc., but it doesn’t remove eye makeup as well as the spray.
Urban Decay Cleansing Oil Stick Ingredients
Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil / Sunflower Seed Oil, Diethylhexyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Polyethylene, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Aqua / Water, Silica [Nano] / Silica, Pentylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Parfum / Fragrance, Curcuma Longa Root Extract / Turmeric Root Extract, Oenothera Biennis Seed Extract / Evening Primrose Seed Extract, Santalum Album / Sandalwood Wood Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycine Soja Oil / Soybean Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Bixa Orellana Seed Oil, Monarda Didyma / Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract, Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract, Melissa Officinalis Extract, Ocimum Basilicum Leaf Extract / Basil Leaf Extract, Mentha Viridis (Spearmint) Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Extract, Tocopherol, Ethylhexylglycerin.
Meltdown Makeup Remover Lip Oil Stick ($15) — I’m weirdly obsessed with this Lip Oil because the bullet is clear.
You swipe this directly on top of long-wearing lipsticks, then remove them with a tissue.
It works! It’ll remove everything in one swipe. I love this one too. Oh, and it also smells and tastes a little like ? coconut.
Urban Decay Lip Oil Stick Ingredients
Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Octyldodecanol, Diisostearyl Malate, Phytosteryl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Aroma / Flavor, Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide, Caprylyl Glycol, Dibutyl Ethylhexanoyl Glutamide, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Tocopheryl Acetate, Limonene.
You can find all of these goodies now in the Urban Decay permanent line.

I think I need that spray in my life.

The spray sounds nice, but the oil stick really grabs my attention. I love oils, and that is such a unique concept!
MizzJ says
The oil stick would be so awesome for travel! I think I’m more excited by the makeup removing products than the prep ones because there’s just so many other options out there with better competency at skincare.

oooooh I have been looking for a new makeup remover that removes EVERYTHING in one step.
my biggest questions about the Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray is…does it leave your skin feeling tight or dry?
that’s my only concern. I am currently running out of my beloved Lancome Energie de Vie Cleansing Oil and that baby removes EVERYTHING in one wash and leaves my skin feeling clean but comfortable. (neither dry and tight nor greasy and sticky)
it is really perfection in a bottle, but the price tag is up there. I don’t mind spending the money on it, but if there’s a dupe or more affordable like it, i’ll try it!

The Lip Oil Stick sounds like a great idea. Will have to check it out.

These new cleansers line is really peculiar… I’m used to make-up remover creams ( I’ve been using Lush Cosmetics and L’Oreal ones) and I love how they work.
The oil stick by UD sounds perfect for who’s travelling a lot and it’s def the pick I would grab 😉
Enjoy the week end!!!
