Make Room for the Korres Never Too Many Set

December 14th, 2009 by Karen 44 Comments

korres-never-too-many-box

With a tube for each of the 12 days of Christmas, the Korres Never Too Many Holiday Gift Set ($40) just might be the answer to a procrastinator’s prayers.

For Korres, considering their typical prices, it’s a limited edition budgetary bonanza (breaks down to just $3.35 per bottle).

You get a dozen travel-friendly 1.69-oz bottles of their shower gels and accompanying body butters in the following fragrances — Jasmine, Melon, Mint, Lemon Basil, Guava and Clementine Orange.

All of the scents are light and not overly synthetic, smelling to me just like the real things. I like all six of them, but I’m kinda stuck on Jasmine… I think it’s my favorite one. 🙂

Now, the main packaging probably won’t win any awards for its design (just a transparent plastic box with a few white snowflakes sprinkled around), but I think the bottles are kinda cute.

Don’t they look artsy and creative? 🙂

About the shower gels, I’m a fan, but the body butters — ooh, baby! These body butters take the cake! Their light, lotion-like texture absorbs quickly without leaving any yucky greasiness behind, yet they still moisturize like monsters, keeping my Saraha-dry shins ash-free for hours.

Holiday bargain hunters, consider divvying up the 12 items in the set for use as stocking stuffers or gifts for the members of my your weekly crazy cat lady support group. Just drop one of these into a lil’ gift bag with some colored tissue and a holiday card.

Or, just keep the whole set for yourself (ha!) and rock a different scent six of the seven days of the week. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

Fun at Sephora

tabs-and-his-sephora-haul

Earlier today I fooled around with the stuff I picked up at Sephora yesterday… It was the last weekend of my $15 VIB gift certificate (are you a member? It’s free to join).

I also needed a new bottle of Clinique Mild Exfoliator Toner (my favorite!).

sephora-vib

As usual, a couple other things caught my eye…

the-balm-time-balm
The Balm TimeBalm Concealer in Medium, $18

stila-topaz1
Stila Kajal Liner in Topaz, $18

clinique-take-the-day-off-cleansing-balm
Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm, $27

Can’t wait to try Clinique Take the Day Off Balm. I’ve heard it’s non-drying (a must for cold weather) and fabulous at removing long-wearing makeup.

I just hope it’s half as good as the purple jar is cute. 🙂

Now that the day’s winding down, how was yours? Smooth sailing? I hope your week got off to a positive start.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Have you entered the Clarisonic giveaway yet? It only takes a minute!

That Korres set looks like a good deal. So far I am liking their primer and I ordered two Lip Butters with my $20 VIB GC. Can’t wait to get them!

Please let us know how the concealer works. I am almost done with mine (MUFE) and want to try something new.

You will heart those Lip Butters! If only they came in a tube, le sigh. 🙂

So far the concealer is a big fat GO! I wore it today and already love it. Hopefully tomorrow it will wear just as well (gotta make sure it wasn’t a freak accident, LOL!).

How was your day, btw? Mine went by way to fast.

Oh good to know! Someone recommended the lip butter so I decided to give them a try. I got Guava and Pomegranate. Yeah, I would rather they come on a tube.

My day flew by! This morning on my way to work, i started thinking of all the things I need to do before I leave on Friday. I am sure you feel the same way. What does one pack for a two week vacation? I gotta get my act together.

Clothes don’t wrinkle and still look cute even after you wear ’em a few times?

Gotta leave room in the suitcase for all the souvenirs, yes?

I have probably 10-14 hour of work to do before I leave next Monday and have NO IDEA how I’m gonna get it all done.

If you hang in there I will too!

Ooo! the Clinique Balm. I’ve been meaning to pick that one up. I hear it’s just like a cleansing oil but in solid form so it’s real handy for travel.

I wish the Korres set was all body butters :/ Now that would be something I could never have too many of. Mm. Jasmine is one of my fav too!! [Guava FTW] Wierd it doesn’t really smell like jasmine though. Haha.

I totally love the cleansing balm! It is kind of big and heavy, but it is so great for getting makeup off without drying my skin, and it rinses off so cleanly (unlike cold cream). It is a bit spendy but totally worth it.

Hmmm I need to pay more attention to the Korres kiosk at Sephora next time I go. They look like they have some yummy stuff. I have use The Time Balm concealer before and really liked it. My only issue with the Balm concealers are that they lack colour range. Are you sure you are a Medium though? Because I was matched with Medium Dark and I am a bit lighter than you.

I went to Sephora today too! I used my $15 but this is my LAST & I mean LAST Sephora purchase for the next 6 months… (I really hope ><). I can't afford anymore make up!! I bought myself the Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance Policy.. Originally $39 but after taxes it was $44… Then I whipped out the beautiful $15 gift card & it was about $27!! I wish I could've gotten more but I just wanted the Shadow Insurance really :\

Definitely already been planning on picking up this set – hoping there’s still one there when I get a chance to go (writing exams now…)! Perfect presents for a few friends… and perhaps one left over for myself ;). I wish Sephora shipping were cheaper to Canada… and that the website would show me the prices in CAD because I keep getting too hopeful and then realizing that it’s in USD, and that it’s in reality much more expensive :(.

Hey Karen, do you ever use Eucerin’s Aquaphor? I have the awful oily/dry skin combo and it gets really dry in the winter (esp because I’m on Tretinoin for acne). It helps with the dry patches and esp around the eyes! It’s gross going to bed with tretinoin and aquaphor slathered on, but it makes a big difference in the morning!
& I love the Topaz liner!! It’s great during finals week when I look mildly zombie like. Make Up Forever has this pretty champagne colored liner too that’s looks a lot like Topaz but it’s shimmery. I think you’d like it!

Funny you should mention that MUFE liner — I saw it and actually thought it might work a lil’ better for me than Topaz. I’ve worn Topaz twice and so far I can’t really tell if it’s helping. Maybe I’m just way beyond the point of no return, LOL!

As for the Aquaphor, yes I’ve tried it before. I’m not crazy about the texture and smell… otherwise I don’t mind it!

I love Korres body butters! I especially love the packaging that they have for the full sizes that has that thing on the bottom that brings up the product so you don’t waste anything. Plus, it’s all pumping action which I don’t always see (and I dislike body butters in jars).

I discovered Korres just this past month and I am really liking their products. I’m trying out the yogurt regimen kit right now and loving it so far! It’s great for my oily but dry skin.

I can’t wait to read what you think of the TimeBalm! I was so in love with it for a while — Arianne and I checked it out around the same time, but I can’t remember which one of us fell for it first and made the other try it 😛 I haven’t worn it recently because it’s a little too dark now (in the lightest shade, grr) but it’s pretty damn impressive!

Also, I remember she had problems with creasing but I didn’t — perhaps due to skin type? I also buff in setting powder like a fiend, though =P

Topaz looks really pretty, I imagine it brightening your eyes a lot. And I have the normal Clinique makeup remover, it works really well but in a balm? Woah – I’d love to see how that goes!

I’ve used an entire container of the Clinique cleansing balm, but didn’t repurchase because a) I felt like I still needed to use wp eye makeup remove to get rid of the greasy feeling and some residue and b) it dried my skin out. Otherwise, I loved it. I used a spatula from a home waxing kit to scrape an even layer all around the top so the product would remain uncontaminated (and also because I’m a little ocd about dipping my fingers into product.) It travels so well and used periodically I think I’d love it. But it’s spendy, or at least spendier than what I use for eye makeup remover now-olive oil. Hmmm, maybe I should pick up a tub to keep in my travel kit. I could avoid taking 3 or 4 bottles then.

I bought the Korres kit as well. I just couldn’t help it! My favorite so far is the Melon. I thought it would be the clementine, but that actually smells like anise to me and I hate black licorice. I found the shower gel bottles to be a bit of a hassle. The lids are really too tight. I couldn’t even open them in the shower when it was wet. I found that it was the same size as my empty bath and body works jar, so I snipped the tube and now I have easy to use bottles!

Its funny that you mention your $15 VIP gift card. Mine was for $20 and I was bummed that it was for so little considering how much I spend a year at Sephora! I remember it saying the more you spend, the more your gift card will be for. I guess that’s actually true, but it goes up in tiny increments.

I also bought the set, but I think that you save more money on the butters then you do on the gels. That’s because a normal bottle of Korres Shower Gel (at 13.53 oz) is 19.50 while a normal tube of body butter (at 7.95 oz) is 29 dollars… Yeah. But the sheer number and variety make them a steal. =D Thanks for the review, I definitely found my emergency gift stash this year.
PS: I love the lip butters especially Quince. It’s such a nice red/pink color and doesn’t go on as bright as one would think. I use a retractable lip brush for my potted balms, so no worries about messes. =D
