Live Clean Baby, an Eco-Friendly Cruelty-Free Line, Arrives at Walgreens Stores

November 23rd, 2011 by Karen 14 Comments

Anonymous sources on Sesame Street have confirmed that rubber ducky makes bath time lots of fun, and with the new Live Clean Baby line of cruelty-free drugstore baby products, the whole bath time experience is likely to improve. 🙂

Yup, for the moms and grandmothers among us — and for those of us who just like soothing, gentle drugstore products in adorable packaging — the six-piece Live Clean Baby collection has made its way from Canada to U.S. Walgreens stores.

The collection includes a Tearless Shampoo & Wash, Moisturizing Baby Bath, Moisturizing Bar Soap, Non-Petroleum Jelly, Diaper Ointment, and a Lotion, each one priced at $7.99.

I went through a phase in high school when I was obsessed with Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo and Lotion. They were just so uncomplicated and gentle, and that’s also how I feel about these.

Tabs, as the current “baby” of our family, approves of my use of this line, as the products don’t contain any animal ingredients and weren’t tested on animals. They’re mostly plant-derived and free of many of the harsher synthetic chemicals commonly found in drugstore bath products and lotions, like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), diethanolamine (DEA), parabens and phthalates. The company claims that 98%-100 of the ingredients are plant-derived.

I really like the Baby Bath, Bar Soap and Lotion from the line. The cleansers, in particular, feel gentle but still do a good job without leaving behind an annoying film. And I’m a sucker for baby powder scents when they’re done just right. This one is nice — very simple and soothing.

The first thing I thought when I saw these was, “Great gifts for a new mom,” and then I sat down to draw the cute blue duck. 🙂

Grab a few of these, pop them into a gift bag, and voilà — a sweet present for baby and mommy.

I haven’t tried the Diaper Ointment or Non-Petroleum Jelly, so I’m not sure about those, but based on the other products in the line, I have high hopes. I’m planning to give both of them to my newborn nephew (the one whose baptism I’ll be photographing on Saturday), and I’m going to check in with my BFF about how they perform.

Good job, Walgreens, for getting this line. I think it has a lot of great stuff going for it. Plant-derived ingredients, cruelty-free and affordable, too? Yes, please!

PRICE: $7.99 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Walgreens stores and also online *
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (depending on how well the Diaper Ointment and Non-Petroleum Jelly work)

* SAVINGS ALERT: Most of the items are on sale online right now for $5.59 each

my godson (bestie’s kiddo) is super allergic and i think for his Christmas present, ill grab a bunch of the soap, body wash and lotion for him, put it in a cute pail or something similar. that would make a fun, practical present that im sure will get much use.

If I liked baby powder smells, I would be buying this right now. Still might snag the baby wash next time I get some tattoos done, they need gentle cleansing!

I’m not a baby (I sure whine like one though) but their non-petroleum jelly is nice. It’s much easier to work with than Vaseline if that’s even possible.

Omg I love Live Clean products! They have been widely available in my area in Canada for a while now. I use the non-petroleum jelly every single day for any dry patches and on my lips before bed and I use their regular line of shampoo and conditioner as well. Its a really great and affordable natural product line!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
