Korres Natural Products Sugar & Spice Showergels Make Good Scents

November 21st, 2008 by Karen 19 Comments

WARNING: Korres Sugar & Spice Showergel Trios ($12) will test your will. If you get these intending to stuff them in stockings or to give them away as gifts, be warned — they smell great, and you might want to keep them for yourself.

It’s weird because these don’t look like much from the packaging — not like holiday or food-scented products. The nondescript packaging doesn’t convey the holidays or rich, authentic foody fragrances. You look at ’em and think, “Meh,” but that only adds to the effect.

These are far more authentic and less synthetic fragrances than the typical sugary sweet pumpkin-spice-gingerbread scented concoctions you’ll find from other holiday lines.

  • Hot Spiced Chocolate Like you’re waiting in line at a Starbucks and someone walks by with a grande dark chocolate and cinnamon latte. I WANT!
  • Sugar Glazed Clementine Reminds me of fresh cut orange slices and brown sugar.
  • Honey Spice Like warm honey cookies and roasted pecans. Mmm…

Each moisturizing gel creates lots of big, frothy bubbles and gets the job done in the shower, but the yummy fragrances are what really set them apart. The scents quickly fade and don’t really linger on the skin, so I’ll still use them with other scents or perfumes.

Scent is highly tied to memory, yo, and showering with one of these takes wash time to a whole new level.

Korres Natural Products Sugar & Spice Showergel Trio

Price: $12
Use: Fantastic scented bath gels to get into the holiday spirit
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

TIP: Be careful when you pour from the bottles because the mouth is wide and pours like a gusher. It’s not hard to empty half a bottle in a couple seconds.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF! It’s a little after 8:30am out here in Florida. Do you know where your gators are?

Mmmm, sounds yummy! Lately I’ve been enjoying Philosophy’s Cinnamon Buns shower gel (thanks to a hefty-sized free sample) followed by Body Shop’s Vanilla Spice body butter. I just love the spicy vanilla smell as I drift off to sleep!

Happy Friday! Try to stay warm out there in Florida! 😉

    Hi Karen B.,

They smell really yummy… almost worth a plane ride for!

Got any exciting plans for the weekend? I just got back from my first Florida run (it was tough… eek! I didn’t sleep well last night).

    Hi Glosslizard!

That combo just made my tummy rumble. Now if there was only a way to get some frosting up in there.

Speaking of vanilla scents, I randomly threw a sample tube of Lavanila Body Butter in vanilla I got from Sephora a few weeks back and I love it! No Play Doh notes at all. 🙂

Hope you are having a good Friday so far. What are you doing this weekend?

Hmm..I might pick these up for my sister in law. I think I’m going to make her a “relaxation” basket for Christmas with a candle and bath stuff. This sound like they’re awesome and would work well.

I totally had the weirdest dream last night. I think one of the last things I did last night was check your blog before I went to bed last night and I had a dream I was shopping with you in the airport for makeup LOL. I need to stop reading blogs before bed 😛

Honey Spice!? WANT! WANT! WANT! WANT!!!!!!!

You’re right, Karen, super sents can take the shower–or any experience–to a whole new level, it’s incredible!

Some girls just don’t know how much more luxurious life can be if you surround yourself with beautiful scents, in the shower and in fragrance and lotion form. =3

Heck, that girl used to be me before I found this blog =3

    Hi Brittany,

That’s a nice idea for a gift. Don’t forget to put in some soft, fuzzy slippers!

LOL, I hope we picked up some nice makeup loot at the duty free shop in your dream. Was MAC up in the mix?!?

    Hi Yadiq,

I am trying to get adjusted to the time change… last night I couldn’t fall asleep so I ended up watching this weird show on PBS at two in the morning. It was a profile of cat show enthusiasts and their show cats. It was actually pretty good. Seriously, I’m on the fast track to becoming crazy cat lady.

How was your Friday? Got any plans for the weekend?

    Hi Jen,

I’m hoping it is. I haven’t gotten in the water yet. I can’t wait… somebody told me today that the water is warm here, WOO HOO! It’s been forever since I’ve been in a warm ocean.

    You have a great weekend!

Nars, actually. Like I said, I think I was thinking about that post too much with the Nars nail polish. 😛

I can’t wear the LaVanilla frags, they go all uber-sweet and cloying on me! Funny, I never noticed the Play Doh in AYY until you mentioned it, and then it was front and center! I’ll have to test it again and see what develops!

This weekend I’m hitting the Fragrance Event at Nordstrom, so I’ll come back with a plethora of samples! Woo-hoo! 🙂

Are they shower gels or bubble baths? Or can they be used for both? I love Korres and I wanna try these out.

I’d love them in a bath but unfortunately we don’t have one, a few years ago my parents got it removed and now we have this huuuuge ugly shower. 🙁

    Hi Ellery,

You can use them for both. 🙂

I love bubble baths, too. Especially when you can just sit in there and relax and chill until your skin gets wrinkly.

YES. YES. I really, really like anything vanilla-ey!

Do you have a favorite, Karen? Or do you move in phases, like with other things? =3

Wohooo. Good job on the run 🙂
Well today (saturday) is very busy: just got back from athletics training. Now I have to arrange a few songs for my rehearsal with the music group tonight at 6.30. Then I have singing class from 3 till 4 pm. After that I have to go straight to the performance with our choir which starts at 5pm but we still have to rehearse a bit. Then after that is music group at 6.30 and once that is over it’s Saint Cecilia party with the choir (the patron saint of music :))
    So it’s pretty busy.
Luckily tomorrow is a lot more relaxed 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
