If You Prefer Eye-Catching Glitter to Subtle Shimmer, the Drinks Are on Bobbi Brown’s New Party Shimmer Brick

Apparently, the drinks are on Bobbi tonight!

Oh, I get it… It’s gonna be one of those Fridays. 🙂

Judging by the shaker and martini motif of the Bobbi Brown Party Shimmer Brick ($40), Bobbi was either watching a James Bond movie marathon (“Shaken, not stirred”), or was feeling extra festive, when she designed her latest powder duo, a limited edition piece released with the new Party Collection.

Wear one or both of its shimmery silver and gold powders as highlighters on your upper cheek bones, like I’m doing here, or dust ’em all over the face for a more complete glow.

Both powders contain quite a bit of glitter, medium-sized flecks in the super soft, pigmented gold, and larger, chunkier pieces in the sheerer, silver shade.

When I apply either shade, I can see the powders shimmering on top of my skin, and I think the effect looks subtler in these pics than it does in real life.

Now, I love glitter and all…but I keep wishing for the flecks in these two shades to be finer and easier to corral and control. Even using my smallest blush brush to dust Party atop my cheeks, and it takes about three layers to reach a level of pigment that I like, I still end up getting glitter in my hair.

The next time I reach for this duo, I think I’ll pat it on my cheekbones with a finger instead.

If you prefer eye-catching glitter to subtle shimmer, there’s a party here you might want to crash. 🙂

That last picture of you looks fantastic, you take a fierce profile picture! That said, I think I’m going to have to pass on this one. I already get enough flak from people for how much glitter I constantly have on me (even if I don’t put any on, it’s like embedded in my skin now…)

That palette looks lovely, but it’s too bad it’s so glittery. I think I’ll pass then.. Love your eyeliner, though. So fierce!

I’m not a fan of glitter, so I’ll definitely pass on this highlighter. Also, I’m too lazy to have to take an extra step to make a product work. lol

By the way, I’ve swatched other Shimmer Bricks from Bobbi Brown, but they were just too shimmery for me.

    Hey Karen

I LOVE glitter. I like shimmer too but I notice sometimes especially with shimmery face powders that it accents wrinkles. So if I do use shimmer, I keep it on my eyes. I like tiny glitter better though. LOL.

I started looking around for a nice highlighter about a year ago. I went from swatch to swatch trying to find the best one and fell in love with this shimmer brick compared to many competitors out there. I bought this a few weeks ago, I didn’t see any noticeable glitter. It leaves a nice subtle glow on my cheekbones without looking harsh or like a disco ball. I have large pores and finding a nice highlighter can be tricky at times but I definitely think this palette is a winner in my book. I also think this is a much nicer shimmer brick compared to the other one’s in Bobbi’s permanent line, which are way too shimmery for me.

The shaker and martini embossing is a playful touch! I really appreciate it when companies go the extra mile and add something unique and fun. It makes you happy just looking at it! 😀

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
