I Raise My Teacup to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Lavender Eau de Toilette Spray

May 21st, 2011 by Karen 24 Comments

Don’t you just love the sound of silence? I caught a few minutes of it this afternoon while staring out the window by my desk. I was watching the branches of a tall oak tree silently sway in a breeze I couldn’t hear at all because the house was all buttoned up with the windows and doors shut. It was both beautiful and awesomely weird, like someone had turned down the volume on a reality show starring me. 🙂

But then El Hub came thundering down the stairs with a load of laundry in his arms, boom-boom-boom! Tabs magically appeared, “Meow! Meow! Meow! Meow!” Then the washing machine, the dishwasher, a gas-powered blower outside? El Hub coughing and tearing open a package of something in the kitchen — for the love of Pete, man, what is that sound?! Add to all of that every other sound that makes up the background music of my busy little life suddenly turned up to 10 at the very same time, and I can’t help but wonder if the silence I’d heard was ever real at all.

Le sigh…

If, by chance, I ever hear that kind of silence again, there’s a high probability you’ll find me somewhere quietly sighing with relief and spraying Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea Lavender ($29 for a 1.7-oz. bottle) in the air.

I’m surprised El Hub hasn’t asked me to chill out with this stuff because I’ve been spritzing it on myself lately like it’s my side job.

I love the way I feel when I wear this blend of citrus, lavender and tea — calm and carefree, like I’m spending a day at the beach with nothing to do but read and nap…

The fragrance is a take on Elizabeth Arden’s classic Green Tea scent, which I’ve always liked but felt was a little to tea-ish for me. This one adds lavender to the mix and favors crisp orange and lemon.

The citrus hits me first. It’s a burst of lemons, mandarin oranges and mint (the mint is subtle; not anything like gum!). From there it transitions into a fresh mix of green tea and lavender before lazily drying down to a warm, comforting musk that lasts the better part of 12 hours.

If you enjoy green tea scents, give it a sniff the next time you stop by an Elizabeth Arden counter. 🙂

PRICE: $29 for a 1.7-oz. bottle; $39 for a 3.3-oz. bottle
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Elizabeth Arden counters and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

I love lavender and citrus. I’ve never cared much for the regular green tea scent either, but I’ll have to give this one a sniff.

You might really like it! If it’s too sharp maybe give the other scent they have new a sniff — it’s called Green Tea Camilla.

I would have preferred stronger mint.

You could always layer something minty to punch it up.

Oh my that sounds wonderful! I was just in a new store today that sells all things lavender, and it smelled so relaxing and lovely in there I didn’t want to leave. I tried something in there that I never would have thought existed, much less tastes good, but it did — lavender chocolate sauce! Who knew?

      Hi Heidi!

That sounds interesting. The only lavender food things I’ve tried are lavender tea and lavender honey. Both were really good.

How’s your weekend going? Mine’s been pretty good. El Hub and I fixed up our deck so that we (Tabs too!) can spend more time out there come summer. We put an umbrella, a lounge chair, and moved our outdoor cafe table/chair set out there. All that’s left is to add plants, which hopefully we can do today.

Crazy busy weekend. Barely recovered from my shopping extravaganza with my friend Mary yesterday, then today after church I went to lunch with a friend, then I went to a poetry reading that a friend of mine held. She just got published her first book of poetry and I’m so excited for her. Then I went shopping/browsing with another couple of friends. Have you ever been up to the town of Windsor, north of Santa Rosa? It’s really cute with lots of nice galleries and shops to browse around in. So, that was fun. I just bought a couple of cards at one gallery of some beautiful watercolor paintings. THEN, the one friend and I went to see a movie called I AM, a very thought-provoking documentary. Now I just finished dinner (I nuked a burrito) and an settling in to watch the Billboard Music Awards. Whew! I’m tired!

      Hi Nina!

I think you’ll like this, then. The lavender’s lovely — like a fresh picked bouquet.

Hope you, the hubs and the fur fam are having a great Sunday. Tabs says hi (he’s sitting on my lap right now making biscuits). 🙂

Have you smelled the Green Tea Camilla version? It’s nice too — a little softer, more delicate, though.

No I haven’t,.. I doubt its moisturizing though. My mum had it.. didn’t like it much other than the fragrance. 🙂

I have this, Karen, and I love it too! I am all over anything with lavender:)

Have you tried Marc Jacobs Curacao? Been using it alternately with the GTL, and it’s a really great fresh, summer scent.
