How Dark Is Too Faced Aqua Bunny Bronzer?

April 22nd, 2010 by Karen 12 Comments

How do you feel about chocolate mousse? — err, I mean Too Faced’s Aqua Bunny Bronzer ($28)? 🙂

Too Faced created this water-resistant, cream-to-powder bronzer to get a handle on shine while adding a sun-kissed glow to the skin. Despite how dark it looks in the pan, it goes on fairly sheer, almost like a semi-translucent, slightly shimmery golden bronze (sans orange undertones).

I’ve been using it for a few days to contour my cheeks (I took some pics here and here), applying with the brush it comes with. It’s easy to blend, layers well, lasts all day long, doesn’t blind me with shimmer and even photographs GREAT!

Now for the catch…

Too Faced says it’s supposed to smell like pina colada, but I’d call it more a coconuts and Play Doh scent. That’s right — PLAY DOH! And it seems like it lingers forever, which is probably more like 15 minutes in real life.

Finding a non-orangey bronzer can be tough, and this one offers beautiful golden bronze color with lots of control. The question is — can you get past the scent? If you can, it might be worth a try. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

Karen

Gah! It just looks so dark….I’m afraid 🙁 I’ll have to road test it to see how it shows up on my super fair skin. I’m so happy you reviewed it though bc I’d been curious ever since you mentioned it in an earlier post 🙂

I’m so sure I couldn’t pull this off, my ultra paleness is scared! I’ve actually never tried any TF’d but always kept up with their stuff/collections online… Should I grab the bull by the horn? >:3

Ooooo I likey! But then again, I’m completely addicted to bronzers… I’d probably have to wait till I get a little bit of summer sun before I use this one though… although, if I take your word for it that it’s not as dark as it seems in the pan… Shopping time? Yes, I think so!

Mmmm-I think this one would be too dark for me. I’ll stick to their Leopard or Snow Bunny bronzers.

i really like the colour how its non orangey, but whenever i wear a makeup that has a strange smell ( eg playdoh ) i almost get obsessive about washing it off cos i just feel like im clogging my pores with dirt or something lol

Karen, what do u think of CoverGirl cosmetics?

I rarely ever purchase Too Faced Cosmetics. A lot of their products contain parabens 🙁

I saw this today and I love it! I am NC50 in MAC/ MUFE Mat Velvet #80 and this works for me. The scent is great too. Smells like the beach/summer. I am sold on it!

Well, I’m really considering buying this bunny now since it’s discounted for around 19 euros in Sephora. And I never had any bronzer before.
Do you a first-timers can pull this off?
I am NC35 in MAC and I really hope I can layer this perfectly 😛

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
