Crushing On Stila Pomegranate Crush Lip and Cheek Stain

January 20th, 2009 by Karen 18 Comments

I dig that Stila’s Pomegranate Crush Lip and Cheek Stain ($24) totally looks like something you’d find in an art store.

Yah, I know it’s really a lip and cheek gel with a plum tint, but I swear if I could use it to write some spontaneous bathroom wall poetry I totally would.

Spontaneous Bathroom Wall Poetry: An Ode to Tabs

I have a cat named Tabs
He parties all night long
He wakes me up at four
Singing loud cat songs

Twisting the clicky bottom of the pen forces the gel out of the tip of the brush. I use it by lightly brushing the color onto my lips or cheeks and blending with a finger. It’s totally easy and kinda fun.

Last night El Hub and I decided to catch a movie. We were running late for the show, so I grabbed Pomegranate Crush on my way out the door and applied her in the car on the way to the theater (Gran Torino… SO GOOD!).

The gel creates a light red stain on my cheeks and a deep red-plum on my pucker. I feel just so-so about it on my cheeks but love the way it look on my lips. It’s the perfect shade of I-MADE-OUT-WITH-CHRISTIAN-BALE-FOR-HOURS red.

According to Stila, the product’s aptly named. It really does contain pomegranate extract, which, they say, reacts with your body’s natural pH levels, resulting in a shade of plum uniquely tied to your body chemistry.

I love the way it looks on me, but the staying power — that’s another story. It’s not the longest wearing lip stain in town, petering out in less than four hours on either my lips or cheeks.

That said, Stila deserves extra credit for the cool pen design. It’s light and travel friendly and great for touch-ups on the go.

Price: $24
Use: A handy plum stain for lips and cheeks
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

You know I love multitasking beauty products, right? — aka products that can be used in different ways? Well, fellow multi-taskers, Pomegranate Crush fits the bill. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself crushin’ on her.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I’m feeling better after my minor breakdown earlier today, thanks to a generous helping of rocky road ice cream, an episode of The Golden Girls and the suggestions you gave me in the comments on my earlier post. All we can do is keep on keepin’ on, ya know?

Loving the Golden Girls. Back when Estelle Getty died, I DVR’d a whole bunch of episodes. I think it took me nearly 2 months to go through one week’s episodes on Lifetime!

I’ve found that the Stila glosses don’t stay on long. It’s really too bad because they have great colors.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
