For a Pop of Color From Santa Monica, Try the New Colour Pop Super Shock Shadows

Bargain hunter says what now?! The new Super Shock Shadows by Colour Pop are only $5 each?

A new makeup line from Santa Monica, California, the brand does eyeshadow singles in a double rainbow of hues and finishes for just $5 each.

Other than being totally affordable, they feel pretty interesting, too. While they look like powder eyeshadows on the skin, they feel more like a creamy mousse to the touch.

To get the most intense color on your lids, Colour Pop recommends applying the shadows either with a finger or a flat eyeshadow brush.

Wearing Sunnies (upper crease), Ibiza and Ratchet (crease), Desert (lids), Cheeky (inner corner) and Dare (lower lash line)

I’ve tried applying and blending them with a bunch of different brushes, and for me, fingers or a flat eyeshadow brush create the most vibrant colors. Most of the time, I’ll grab a domed, tapered fluffy brush because, you know…girlfriend is not about to sweep a bright purple into the crease with a finger, even though it would be possible, but my clumsiness knows no bounds, and it could also be a recipe for disaster.

The fluffier the tool, the more it tends to diffuse the shadows, which is why these appear super intense in the arm swatches (where I applied them with a finger) and mellower on my lids.

Just an FYI…in case the thought of parting with yo’ 217 or 224 freaks you out.

It’s a cool look, no? — kind of glistening and dreamy… I like.

I’ll usually just buff one of the colors (neutral golden brown Desert is my jam!) all over the lids, then do a little black liner on the water lines.

As these don’t suffer from fallout (only the faintest bit), applying one is quick and easy, and it lasts all day long on my combination oily/dry lids with almost zero creasing or fading…and that’s either with or without primer.

The brand is still fairly new, so right now they’re only available online at colourpop.com. They do offer free shipping, though, on orders over $30, which adds up to six shadows.

Not a bad way at all to experiment with some new brights. 🙂

Is that Tabs behind the curtain?

Clearly these tabby curtain tie-backs need to find their way into my life, STAT.

Thanks to reader Goode for the heads-up! These cat lady gems (which look a lot like someone I know…) are available now at urbanoutfitters.com for $24 a pair.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Okay, these look like fun. And between the fab colors and your tight waves, total mermaid alert! I wonder what Tabs would do if he saw those curtain tie backs, haha!

Whatever you did looks so amazing on you. Dare on your lower lash line is incredible and I’ve seen you in TONS of looks! Which black liner did you use?

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
