Clinique Turnaround Body Cream: Turn Around Dry Skin

March 26th, 2009 by Karen 30 Comments

clinique turnaround body cream

When I slather on Clinique’s new Turnaround Body Cream ($28), I feel compelled to belt out Bonnie Tyler’s power ballad, Total Eclipse of the Heart.

“Turn around
Every now and then I get a little bit lonely
And you’re never coming round
Turn around
Every now and then I get a little bit tired
Of listening to the sound of my tears.”

bonnie-tyler

If you were born after 1986, you might be more familiar with Nicki French’s cheesier and less powerful version of the tune.

Either way, stop playing like you don’t know the lyrics because I know you do!

In addition to bringing about weird singing urges, Turnaround Body Cream also hydrates crazy good.

It’s part of a crop of new exfoliating face and body treatments Clinique released earlier this year. Clinique says the cream does double duty, eliminating dryness and reviving dull-looking skin with ingredients like time-released salicylic acid and shea butter.

I’ve been using it on my dry legs for the past week. My gams are looking smooth, soft and all-around foxy.

Sometimes when I apply lotion before bed, my legs will look ashy the next morning. That doesn’t happen with Turnaround Body Cream. If I slather it onto my legs at night, my skin will continue to look and feel soft the following morning, throughout day and well into the next evening.

The unscented formula never competes with my perfume. I also like how quickly it sinks into my skin and how it never leaves me feeling sticky or greasy.

Clinique Turnaround Body Cream

Price: $28.50 for a 5oz tube
Use: To hydrate and exfoliate dry skin on the body
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

Turnaround Body Cream would rock my world if it was cheaper! At $28.50 a pop, it’s definitely an indulgence.

Still, if you have super dry skin and are a fan of the Clinique line, it might be worth the splurge.

Hello, allergy season

I’ve been so excited about the sunshine that I sorta forgot that it’s now allergy season. Aaa-choo! I’m about to pump myself full of Zyrtec before heading out for a quick run. 🙂

How’s your day been so far?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

And I need you now tonight
And I need you more than ever
And if you only hold me tight
    We’ll be holdin’ on…forever
And we’ll only be making it right
    ‘Cause we’ll never be wrong

Together we can take it….okay, I have to stop…LOL. Clearly I’m a child of the ’80s!

“You’re love is like a shadow on me all of the time

I don’t know what to do
      I’m always in the dark…”

      Okay I need to stop.

Eh.. I’m definitely going to say no to the hefty price tag (and it doesn’t even look like you get to much =( )and I really haven’t gotten a lot of results from the Clinique line.

PS. I think BT’s got a little bit of the wonk eye going on in that pic 0_o

Ha! Maybe it’s the hair that lends to the eye wonkiness?

      Hi McClain,

LOL! It’s a good road trip song. 🙂

I hope your sinus infection gets better soon. I swear I wouldn’t be able to go outside if it weren’t for the miracle allergy meds.

Hahaha my mom used to sing that all the time! This lotion looks awesome, even though it’s pricey. On a side note, I walked into TJ Maxx yesterday and found both Bliss and Clinique products! I was so excited and spent way too much money lol. It’s been rainy and cold here- glad someone’s enjoying sunshine 🙂

      Hi Meredith,

That’s so awesome! I don’t have a TJ Maxx near me, boo. I do have a Marshalls but it’s kind of a trek.

Looks like it’ll be in the 70s here today. I’ll send you over some sunshine. 🙂

ok people.. (especially Crystal G) it is enough that my mother tortured me with this song on her karaoke machine! The deafening tune stuck in my head.. make it stop!

“every now and then I fall apart..”

    Thanks Karen 😛

      Hi Luv J,

LOLOLOL! This tune is standard issue karaoke music!

My family is Filipino and they love the power ballads. Whitney, Mariah, Journey. Yup.

      Happy Friday!

Oh no, not “Total Eclipse of the Heart!” I’m so sick of that song!

If only it weren’t that expensive, I would totally use that lotion. I use Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing lotion and that does the trick for me every single time. I go through that stuff like candy. It also helps calm my prone-to-rashes skin so I’m not all red and itchy.

I discovered that lotion last year after I had allergic reactions in the form of hives to Suave, Lubriderm, Cetaphil, the store brand (Walgreens, Jewel, etc), Eucerin, Jergens, Olay and some of Gold Bonds lotions. Oh, yea, by the way, Olay gave me a migraine from the smell ON TOP of the hives. Ugh. I’ve permanently attached myself to St. Ives or Neutrogena hand lotions and Aveeno body lotions.

Ahahaha, you’re suffering from allergies? Poor you. My seasonal allergies are pretty much tamed by my nice prescription medicine called Singulair. The good thing about Singulair is that it does double duty for me by helping ease my asthma symptoms and knocking out my seasonal allergies. If only it would help with fragrances. My head pounds everytime I’m near someone with perfume on top of my lungs feeling like they’re being strangled by a anaconda.

      Hi Kate,

My BFF takes that for her asthma. She likes it a lot, too.

Bummer that you’ve had such trubs with all those lotions. Maybe Clinique will have a GWP featuring it some day so you can try it. You might really like it! 🙂

      Happy Friday!

If there was a cream to attack the super dry skin on my legs, I don’t care what it costs! Love that it’s unscented. Why is most heavy duty creams make you smell like a drink with an umbrella?

Yah, if only the tube were bigger and it was cheaper! I’d like it in a big ole’ pump bottle like the other lotions at the drugstore. Oh, and only $5.

It’s really nice… especially on the legs and feet!

Those GWPs get me every time. Especially when they have a nice coordinated palette and a lipstick. I can’t tell you how many Raspberry Glace tubes I have from those things, LOL!

      Hi Karen B.,

Oh wow! I remember 1987 with vivid clarity (I was in middle school). You could’ve been one of my friend’s lil’ baby sisters, awww!

Yeah, I don’t like the new one, either. It sounds very sterile to me.

Karen: I’m soooo overloaded w/ Raspberry Glace, too!!! 🙂 I think that’s funny. Glad it’s my mom’s fave shade cause at least I can pass them along. Loving the post and really do want to try that lotion. I’m a super-fan of the turnaround formulas. When they changed their trunaround face cream formula about 10 years back my hair stylist and I both almost had heart attacks…then went into squirrel mode stocking up. Then we realized the new formula was even better. I love how it reaveals your new skin layer fast without burning. Hoping the body lotion does the same. It is pricy…but the GWP idea is a good one. And it certainly isn’t as pricy as the Elizabeth Arden Prevage I’ve been dying to try. By the way, also love their Turnaround Serum…really rocks! 🙂

    Idon’t know what to do
And I’m always in the dark
We’re living in a powder keg
    And giving off sparks!!!
    I really need you tonight!

    Forever’s gonna start TONIGHT!

    Karen,

Singulair works great, especially if Zyrtec and Claritin aren’t working for you. Zyrtec and Claritin only block histamine while Singulair block leukotrienes, which are the underlying causes of allergy symptoms (Kate watches too much television). It works like a charm. I’ve tried every allergy medicine (nasal sprays and pills alike) and Singulair works the best. I highly suggest it if you’re finding Zyrtec isn’t working.

Happy Friday Karen! Yes I totally watched The City last week and cheered when she kicked scruffy Jay to the curb! BTW ladies you can thank good ole’ Meatloaf for that song cuz he like wrote it! Not only do I have the song playing in my head like an earworm, now I have the vid playing in my head too! Thanks Karen! I will not be purchasing this product becuz clinique clogs up my poor skin something wicked. Though their Happy Heart perfume is TOTALLY delish!! Her eye makeup is a trip no doubt, but that hair is beyond!!

TGIF! Sheesh! Boy do I feel old… I met my husband in ’87! I may have to hit Clinique not for the lotion but for some wrinkle help! I was a young pup back in the day, but still… quite beyond middle school. I love Happy & Happy Heart, too… but I have trouble with some of the lotions & eye creams and break outs. Talk about unfair, needing wrinkle repair and Clearasil at the same time! I was not blessed with the beautiful skin gene for sure.
