Chanel Les Contrastes de Chanel Fall 2010: The Joues Contrastes Will Leave You Blushing for More

Chanel Pink Explosion Joues Contraste Blush

To complement the dark, smokey eyes and soft lips of fall’s Les Contrastes de Chanel makeup collection, Chanel crafted three of the most beautiful Joues Contraste Powder Blushes ($42) I’ve seen from the line in a really long time. I mean, just look at ’em in their pans!

Rose Temptation (a warm and shimmery rosy brown), Plum Attraction (a shimmery deep plum) and Pink Explosion (a shimmery cool pink) wow me in ways that last year’s Fresque didn’t.

All three of the new limited edition shades pack off-the-charts pigmentation yet still look pretty natural at the same time. The recipe Chanel used of subtle, shimmery powders and buttery, blendable colors just works, and like previously released blushes in the Joues Contraste line, all of them have the subtle signature JC rose scent.

I think Chanel’s having a major makeup moment with Les Contrastes de Chanel, and for me these three new blushes solidify the collection’s position as a front runner for fall 2010.

What do you think of these shades and Les Contrastes de Chanel so far?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Onward to Friday (YES!), and it couldn’t come soon enough. How was your Thursday? Anything new to report? Question: are you familiar with Pacifica’s Hawaiian Ruby Guava Body Butter? Can you tell me anything about it?

It’s a toss up between Rose Temptation and Pink Explosion.

Both are pretty in their own little way. I must check them out too when they are available in stores!! And did you mention they are limited edition shades? That means I have to do it double-fast!!

Flu-ing and cough-ing BUT I had an awesome holiday with lots of makeup shopping =) Pretty much kept me “alive”.

        Have a wonderful weekend ahead!!

Hope you are feeling better. Everyone is getting poorly due to the unpredictable weather in Singapore lately.

I got Giorgio Armani foundation to try and NARS Blush in Gilda plus some others which are not available here!! Spent almost an hour at each counter playing with all the testers. Loves =)

      Hi Glosslizard,

You could totally work it w/a fan brush. Maybe also keep a kabuki around to buff out the edges, too!

Rose Temptation looks the best on you, I think! 🙂 On my NW15 skin Pink Explosion would be the most suitable out of the three you’ve showed. I’m looking for a new blush, am running out of my fave Lise Watier blush (for the second time…) but Chanel is a little rich for my blood right now. I’ve been resorting to using my hot pink MUFE shadow as a blush, and it’s great with a light touch.

    Hi Karen!

I’ve just discovered your blog and love it. I was however bummed that our skin tones are so different (I’m NW10) but I’m so incredibly delighted you took the trouble to also swatch these on NW20 skin!! I can’t tell you how helpful that is to me. I can sometimes get tempted into things that aren’t for me since colours differ on people so much so it is so nice to know that I can benefit from seeing things both ways on your site. Is this something you normally do? Thanks!!!!

Karen, first of all, I love your necklace and your hairstyle – so pretty! Did you pull your hair back in a ponytail, or is it in a bun? I like your sideswept bangs!

If I get divorced because of this collection, I am blaming you for it! LOL! After seeing the blushes on the NW20 skin, I think pink explosion is the one I would get. I can’t wait to get the Enigma quad and the Glossimers from the collection. My Nordstrom didn’t have it yet, but they were doing preorders for all of the Nordstrom anniversary collection.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend! We’re doing movie night, possibly a picnic tomorrow and just having fun hanging out with the kids.

      Hi Toni!

Thanks, hon! For this hairstyle I just let my bangs air dry and then I put in a little bit of Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine to add smoothness and shine. The rest of the hair is in a low bun.

Well, if there’s any Chanel collection worthy of driving one to divorce, this would be the one. I haven’t seen a Chanel fall collection this grand in a while! It’s wearable, classy, yet it still has a twist — all the things I love most from the brand. Hopefully you’ll be able to get your paws on the new shades sooner, than later.

Movie night sounds like fun! Will you guys be renting or heading out to the theater?

Definitely renting – my 14 y.o. daughter got sick this morning, so I don’t think movie popcorn is what she needs tonight! This might also cancel the picnic I wanted to do tomorrow as well!

I am having a hard time choosing which one to get. (I am somewhat of a new Chanel fan, my first experience was the Rouge Coco lipsticks in Mademoiselle and Rose Comete! These have hooked me to Chanel ever since!)
