Early Mornings, Late Nights and Crazy Cats Don’t Stand a Chance Against the Brightening Power of Chanel’s Convoitise Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow

Raising. The. Roof. Late ’90s style, for this shimmery pale golden cream, which I particularly enjoy on summer mornings when my cat wakes me up at 5 by using my boobs as his own personal obstacle course.

I think it’s the heat… It fires him up more than usual.

“Your body is a wonderland.” — Tabs the Cat

Chanel Convoitise Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow… Now that’s a mouthful.

It has a soft, almost bouncy texture — less dense than a MAC Paint Pot, but more solid than a Cream Color from Tom Ford — and lasts about 8-9 hours for me. With the littlest flecks of golden glitter, the reflective finish is definitely shiny, but it stops short of full-on metallic.

The first time I tried it was after a rough night when it was so hot in my bedroom that I spent most of the evening trying to make the backs of my knees stop sweating through sheer force of will (didn’t work). I must’ve gotten three, or maybe four, hours of sleep, and I looked broken down and wasted the next morning.

I picked up Convoitise and popped it on my lids and along my lower lash lines, hoping the golden color would make me perk up.

Sho’ ’nuff, it did. I took a double take in the mirror. “Oh, hai, baby Karen!” 🙂 “Don’t you look young and refreshed. I’ll be right back. I’m gonna go get you some milk and cookies and tell you cautionary tales about growing hard and cynical in your 30s.”

Ha! Sorry… Couldn’t resist.

I thought it might have been a fluke until I tried it again later that week and saw same bright/perky/take-10-years-off-the-clock effect.

Needless to say, I’ve been using this gold with gusto. It’s my favorite thing from the Les Delices de Chanel collection. I like it even more than the Aqualumieres, which tells you a lot, because I really like those.

Too bad it isn’t permanent! I could see it becoming a staple of mine, like a cream version of MAC Ricepaper.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Try it sometime with the metallic mint shadow from the Chanel Délicatesse quad along your lower lash line. SO pretty. SO refreshing. 🙂

P.P.S. Fireworks yet? They’re just about to start out here, and I think I’ll be able to see them a little from my deck. Hopefully.

Ended up not wanting to park down by the fair grounds to watch them. We checked, but it was packed, and no easy parking.

    Such a pretty, fresh look.

I actually went and watched fire works last night. I went up to Windsor where they were doing their 4th of July festivities a day early so as not to compete with the major fire works going on at the Santa Rosa fairgrounds tonight. It was fun. The band Pride and Joy (ever seen them, Karen?) was performing and I LOVE them!

I went and saw a daytime concert today. An amazing band called California Dreamin’. They cover just about everybody. The female singer is AMAZING. She dressed in costumes (they all did) and covered songs from everyone from Cher to Joan Jett to Dust Springfield to Lady Gaga. How’s that for variety?

I’m glad to be home tonight. There are a lot of fire crackers going off in the neighborhood and I’m glad to be home to offer Missy emotional support. She’s currently hiding under the bed in the spare bedroom. Poor baby!

Ha, I love Tabs’ commentary. “Your body is a wonderland” made me laugh so hard, my cat had to flee.

I just clicked over to Chanel to try it out. Have you tried any of the other colors?

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
