Benefit Got Deep! The New Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Eye Primer in Medium/Deep

The new Benefit Stay Don’t Stray in Medium/Deep ($26)

“Sit. Stay. Don’t stray!”

Sounds like me trying to get Tabs to sit still for a picture. 🙂 It’s actually the idea behind Benefit’s $26 Stay Don’t Stray, the brand’s creamy eye primer for lids and under-eye areas.

It’s designed to boost the wear time of concealers and eyeshadows. Problem is, it’s only been available in a single shade…until now.

Yup, Benefit got deep! Come spring, a darker shade, Medium/Deep, joins the original, lighter Stay Don’t Stray.

Both shades will also get a new bottle with a doe-foot applicator instead of the old pump.

YES! I was never a huge fan of that old hair-trigger… This new doe-foot seems much easier to control.

I’m really glad to see Benefit branching out with a shade for brown babes, but MORE, MORE MORE! 🙂 Medium/Dark is closer to something I could wear on my NC42 skin, but not quite there.

Not because I don’t think it’s dark enough, but because I think it contains a lot of beige. Great news for guys/gals who wear beige well, but on my skin, it tends to go a little gray.

I think it’s definitely worth a try, though, if you’re looking to get more wear time from your eye products. When I wear it on my lids, my eyeshadows last dramatically longer. We’re talking all-day wear.

As for boosting the wear time of products under my eyes, I haven’t noticed as much improvement there.

It should be a fine primer for many babes, but it’s not one I’m ready to call life-changing just yet. I’d love to see B add a couple more colors (or an untinted one) and give the formula some extra oomph, because the eyeshadows I wear with NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (which is colorless) do seem more intense.

PRICE: $26
AVAILABILITY: Coming this spring to Benefit counters, stores and benefitcosmetics.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B

More stuff to look forward to from Benefit

So! A little birdy told me that Benefit is re-vamping some of their makeup line. I’ve heard whispers that new powder eyeshadows and Creaseless Creams colors are in the works…

No firm details yet, but I’ll keep you posted, of course.

I can’t wait to see what they come up with. It’s Benefit, so we know the packaging will (very likely) be cute.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S.

TGIF!

I wish they changed the packaging! I try to only get the samples in kits, because they have a doe foot applicator which I prefer.

They did! They’re changing all the pumps to doe foot applicators. 🙂

I’ve never used this primer before…might have to give it a try. Eye makeup always creases on me (I have hooded lids) so I normally just stick to what I know works for me (urban decay primer potion or bareminerals prime time). I still haven’t found one that prevents creasing and doesn’t make blending a pain in the arse.

This has been on my “to buy” list and I’m glad to see they’ve expanded their shade range.

Benefit is coming along slowly but surely. It frightens me that this is medium/deep its really just medium..maybe medium/ tan

I’m on the other end of the spectrum, so all the nude-tinted eye primers go orange or are just too dark on me! (Looking at you Smashbox, because your product is otherwise awesome…) I stick to the NARS for that reason, I love that it’s colorless.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
