Try $22 Benefit Gimme Brow Brow-Volumizing Fiber Gel for Fuller-Looking Brows

September 26th, 2013 by Karen 19 Comments

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium
Wearing Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Light/Medium in my brows

Gimme brows.

Gimme brows, I said!

That’s like a beauty lover’s battle cry… “Gimme brows, dagnabbit!” 🙂

Mine have grown out quite a bit since last spring, which is when I decided to leave them to their natural tendencies.

Well, mostly natural. I still tweeze a stray hair every now and then, just to keep myself from looking like a tiny Sasquatch, but for the most part, I let them go wild.

I want my brows so lush, full and bold that passersby do double-takes and say to themselves, “Damn! That girl’s got BROWS!”

Benefit’s new Gimme Brow Brow-Volumizing Fiber Gel ($22) got my attention because of that word, “Volumizing”

I actually don’t know if volumizing is a real word outside of haircare and mascara circles, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?

Vol-yume-eye-zing.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium

Cute little tube too, yeah? And that mini brush? It’s designed to be very precise.

The brush-on waterproof gel formula adheres to both hair and skin and comes in two build-able, natural-looking shades — Light/Medium and Medium/Deep — and you can apply them in multiple layers to strengthen the look.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium

With brow fillers, I typically go a few shades lighter than my natural brow color because I think that looks less stark and obvious. That’s why I thought Light/Medium would be better for my fuzzy little caterpillars…

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium

Unfortunately, I think it turned out to be a tad too light for me, but I still found a lot to like.

Swatch of Light/Medium…

The gel formula is highly pigmented and really adheres to hair and skin with firm hold. In fact, I think if I wanted to, I could build a bold brow with just this alone, and it would last all day.

None of that funky crunchiness, either, that accompanies some brow gels. This formula holds firm but doesn’t get crunchy.

Naked brows, babe!

Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium
With two layers of Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium…

Two layers is probably my sweet spot, where it has good coverage and hold, yet still looks pretty natural, with the emphasis on natural. I attempted more layers to see if I could achieve runway brows, but it veered off course. My brows just looked over-saturated, and I could see the gel sitting in the hairs.

I’m really looking forward to trying the Medium/Deep shade now…

If natural-looking brows are your end game, try Benefit Gimme Brow.

I do kind of wish I could build it up with more layers to have the option of creating catwalk brows, but overall, I’m sold.

PRICE: $22
AVAILABILITY: Available online now and at Benefit counters
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A-

It’s a school night…

…but I still went out! I went to dinner in the city with my friend Courtney to have sushi in the Richmond district, my old stomping grounds.

I’ll get you a roll. What kind of sushi would you like? 🙂

Next stop: Friday!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I have Benefits little brow kit that has lasted me forever, but I’ve heard good things about this since it came out. (Thank you, HSN! Yes, I get that bored!)
As for sushi I’ll take a rainbow roll with an edamame appetizer, and maybe some hot sake if its been a long week!

I have never been one for tinted brow gel, but I just got some over the weekend and I’m really feeling it.

In the search of bigger bolder brows, I went right to the Benefits counter. Those ladies KNOW brows! They hooked me up with this brow gel and I couldn’t be happier! Well….I could be happier. If I had Brooke Shields brows, but I don’t. Now I pencil and powder a little with Anastasia then follow up with Benefit Gimme Brow for a little volume and color. Perfect combo!

What lipstick are you wearing? A fav lipstick of mine has gone off and I am gutted that it is discontinued. The lipstick you are wearing looks to be a dupe.

I rarely (aka never) do my brows but the few times I have actually tried to do anything they always end up looking 100% better. I need to get less lazy and actually start doing something to them!

Yours look awesome in the photo! Total brow inspiration!

I think your brows are looking good! If I left mine to their own devices, they’d look like I had the mange. HAHA! I’m glad to see Marmalade is getting some love – he seems very interested in your lipstick color. Possibly because it’s awesome. I’m moving on and hoping you mentioned in an earlier post what it is but, if not, what is it? 🙂

Hi Karen, I just recently started reading your blog and I have to say I find myself chuckling constantly. Love your verbage and the dang cat. LOVE Tabs to bits. LOL

I agree this color may be a touch too light for you and I look forward to checking out the darker shade. I think this color will be great for me so I may try it next time I’m in the market for brow color. Thanks for the review!

i love the shape of my brows but i’ve been thinking i’d like em a tad thicker lately. I’m pretty lazy with my make up but if you’re suggesting this; maybe i should get my butt to a Benefit counter and see if those girls can instruct me 😉

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
