Be a Bronze Bombshell with Clarins Sun Blush

The beauty world’s buzzing about new fall makeup collections, but we can’t forget about summer. Please pass the iced tea, and let’s see what Clarins has been up to.

The Clarins Summer Fever line continues to impress me. Sun Blush ($27.50), a shimmery loose powder, perfectly complements the vibrant teal, purple, pink and orange eye and lip product colors from their Waterproof Eye Pencils, Wonder Mint Mascara and Sun Lip Balms.

Sun Blush is a warm, terra cotta brown with lots of bronzy shimmer. It has a fine, loose powder texture that reminds me of wonderful Shu Uemura blushes like M Brown 73 (a warm, peachy brown matte) and P Gold 93 D (a shimmery golden pearl).

Applying it to my cheeks for the first time was, um, interesting. The product comes packaged in a cute travel pot that includes a mirror and puff. The puff is great in theory but takes a little practice to use correctly. It tends to pick up and deposit too much product unless you tap away some of the loose powder onto a tissue or the back of your hand. I forgot to do that when I first went to use the puff and wound up looking like one of those crazy ladies who can’t lay off the rouge. As a matter of fact, I would probably skip the puff entirely and, whenever I have one handy, apply Sun Blush with a blush brush like the MAC 116.

Next time you stop by a Clarins counter, check out Sun Blush, and be sure to give a good sniff because I think you’ll like the fragrance. It reminds me of sunscreen, clean babies (who don’t poop or cry, LOL) and the beach. The marketing folks at Clarins claim the scent will cheer you up, and it certainly did that for me.

If your skin has very cool undertones, Sun Blush might look a little orange on you, but don’t let that stop you from giving it a try. You never know.

Try Sun Blush at your nearby Clarins counter or check it out online.

Ugh, I wish I had time to get a Jamba Juice (Orange Dream Machine with an extra shot of soy protein, please), but work has been busy today. It’ll have to wait. I wish we could all go on a Jamba Juice run and catch up on what we did last weekend! Which flavor would you get?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

That blush looks great on you! I think I’m gonna try it because for some reason, my face hardly tans when the rest of my body does, so irritating.

So I’m looking for a really good lip balm that’s organic/natural, and cheap (not like the fresh sugar one i had) any suggestions?!

That looks very pretty on you. Why don’t make up companies give us realistic tools when purchasing a product? Sort of like some of Benefit’s products like Dallas or Hoola. Those brushes will only leave streaks and definitely not blend the product on my skin.

I would get Fit & Fruitful. I love the new line of smoothies they have.

    Hi Marisol,

I know! I always just end up just throwing ’em out.

I haven’t tried the Fit & Fruitful smoothie. If I’m feeling adventurous maybe I’ll get that flavor during mynext visit.

    Hi Glosslizard,

Yum, Razzmatazz. That’s probably my second favorite flavor. Is your bronzer coming with you on vacation?

    Hi Lindsay,

That’s one I haven’t tried from the line. I’ve used and liked the Honey Lip Balm and the Lip Shimmers.

Here’s another one from tarte that I like — one side has a sugar exfoliator, and on the other is a lip balm. Warning: it tastes really good. Once I was tempted to bite a good chunk out of it.

Super gorgeous! Just glowing and perfect for this heat we’ve got in the Bay this week! Hope you’re staying cool, Miss Karen – and happy anniversary!! Sushi sounds delish (and so does In ‘n Out 😉 )

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
