Amazing Things Happen When You Wear the Chanel Sophisticated Eye Collection’s Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow in Vanites

September 1st, 2011 by Karen 37 Comments

When I wear the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadows in Vanites ($57; part of the new Chanel Sophisticated Eye collection), unicorns shoot glittery rainbows from their horns, every cat within a 10-mile radius rolls on its back and flashes its tum, and Ryan Gosling materializes on my doorstep and offers to take me to Pinkberry for a salted caramel fro-yo.

Well, at least that’s how I feel when the colors in this divine eyeshadow quad are decorating my lids.

I tried them on this afternoon, and the purple, pink and two duo chromes couldn’t have been much easier to blend; I barely had to flick my wrist. It was like swish, swish, DONE!

“Ooh, nice!” El Hub said when he got home from work, which loosely translated means, “Your eye makeup, while bold, doesn’t scare me like it does sometimes when you wear crazy-@ss purples.”

I think the duo chromes even brought out my Cullen side when I stepped outside to water the plants in the late afternoon sun; the sparkle on my lids was easily Vampire Edward caliber (one flashes from plummy brown to pinkish gold, and the other from pale pink to purplish gold). Just too. Darn. Good.

Vanites could become one of fall’s sleeper hits, and I really do think it’s worth the price (especially if you have a weakness for purples and taupe).

PRICE: $57
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Chanel counters, stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A TO THE PLUS!

You know you’re a cat lady when…

…you discover that the cocktail ring you like at Nordstrom Rack is called “Cat’s Eye” and you can’t contain your excitement.

Pretty, isn’t it? In a gargantuan glowy ring kinda way? The designer’s name is Ariella.

Do you ever wear giant cocktail rings like these?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Gorgeous eye look! And the cocktail ring is fab. I don’t have the guts to wear something so big though. I always admire girls who can rock huge rocks!

Ahh, I love these and the way you made them look, but I need to save my money for other things (like some serious dental stuff). You should do a special giveaway of this one 🙂 And then only for your fans who are teachers and who attended your Alma Mater! 🙂 Or not . . . And I’ll just drool over the pictures 🙂

Love these colors! Oh, and I really like that ring, too. It’s funny how I am about jewelry — I will rock the biggest, boldest earrings, pendants, and bracelets, but rings have got to be unobtrusive. They just get in my way, but I do love the look — just not practical for me.

Karen, this is really a glamorous look. I l-o-v-e LOVE those colors! The purple is a really good one. Thanks for sharing this review -have a good morning!

OK, you just made me choke on my nutri-grain bar while laughing at your translation of El Hub’s “oooh, nice”. And I’m glad the unicorns are shooting rainbows out of their HORNS, because I was a bit worried for a minute. 🙂

I think the eye look is great on you, but I really like the Glossimer in Wild Rose in these pics. Super flattering. 🙂 I’m basic and boring with my jewelry, just like with my makeup, but I think the cocktail ring is awesome on you.

I really want Chanel makeup! I never had it this bad before. This craving kicked in right before I took out my very first college loan. Go figure. I really can’t afford HE makeup and now I want it, of all the appropriate times. 🙂

My reward for getting through a crazy work week in good shape is a high-end makeup treat. This quad is the first thing on my list to check out. Chanel Taupe Gris has become my absolute favorite shadow.

No, I never wear large cocktail rings like that just because I have really small hands and thin fingers, so it would look really funny on me. Hehe, plus even finding a ring that fits my fingers is a whole other story!

Your ring is definitely a statement piece! 😀

I have that quad from it’s first release. It looks much better on you than it does on me. It looks a bit muddy on me. Every time I wear it someone tells me I look tired. : (

Your skin looks amazing, you have got that gorgeous olive skin colour and brown eyes. You get away with wearing most eyeshadow colours. The purple is goegeous, you’ve just applied enough so it’s not to over the top. I have added you to my 50 favourite blog sites on my blog. Hope thats ok?

Purples aren’t for me because I don’t wear color, but I’m glad it works for you! The Lagons quad has been getting a lot of praise, but I haven’t heard much word on Vanites yet. Glad you’re a fan!

    Hi Karen,

The shadow looks great on you! I hace a question for you — and I guess other readers — do you know if this is the same as the Euro/Chanel version by the same name? I got the Euro version years ago, and it sounds the same (except for the difference in shape/consistency )– I wonder if the colors are the same.

    Thanks!

I will have to dig mine out – This is a repromote from years ago – think my old one has hit pan on one of the colors – Totally forgot about this quad until I saw it last week – Wish they would bring back the Dreams quad – That is my all time favorite Chanel quad – Do you have it?

Oooh pretty! Glad to know it’s husband-approved, lol. Whenever I do something wild with my makeup and my boyfriend is around, I always ask him if I look ridiculous. Luckily, he’s never said yes! 🙂

I love the cocktail ring! It looks great on you! I have a few myself with big-ass gem stones :D. There are quite a few sellers on Etsy who do an excellent job making statement rings. Many do custom sizing, too, which is nice for me considering how scrawny my fingers are, lol (I wear a 4.5, so buying rings in stores is not really an option for me).
