According to This Hourglass, It’s Time for Another Holiday Extreme Sheen Set

Wearing Hourglass Extreme Sheen Gloss in Imagine

This year for the holidays, Hourglass is having a small but tasteful fete at Bergdorf Goodman stores. Your presence has been requested, my dear, although you needn’t RSVP. Yes, the luxury line just launched a single lip kit for the holidays, their one-and-only shindig fof the season, and called it the Extreme Sheen Set.

Forty-five dollars (available exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman stores) gets you three mini lip glosses with maximum moisture and shine. Child (a sheer nude), Imagine (a shimmery, peachy champagne) and Ignite (a shimmery rosy beige) can’t wait to see you at the party, and they hope you’ll be wearing a pair of sultry, smokey eyes.

If you feel like you’ve seen this show before, congrats! — you have a great memory. The set’s very similar to last year’s Extreme Sheen Set, which included two of the same shades, Ignite and Child, with the third being a bright red called Siren.

This year, by replacing Siren with Imagine, methinks Hourglass has given the kit a more casual feel.

And color me thrilled. Hourglass must have read my mind because they replaced last year’s brush applicators with more practical doe feet (foot?)!

The Extreme Sheens are some of my favorite glosses on the market now on account of their hyper hydrating, non-sticky formula, high-shine finish, smooth texture and light cupcake scent.

Wear time varies by color, but I generally get between two and four hours with them.

Even though this year’s kit doesn’t break new ground, I don’t believe it really had to. I love the products, packaging, colors and quality of these glosses. As far as lip kits go, I think this one’s tops.

PRICE: $45
AVAILABILITY: Available exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (an A+ if not for the price)

Uh, oh… My Sephora.com cart hath runneth over! I keep emptying and refilling my shopping cart in anticipation of tomorrow’s V.I.B. (Very Important Beauty) Sale, which runs Nov. 10-14, both in-stores and online.

Enter code VIBDREAM at checkout on the website to get 20% off your entire purchase. Might be a good time to stock up on staples like Bumble & Bumble Super Rich Conditioner, and perhaps a few other goodies, too. 🙂

If you’re thinking about bringing something home, spill the beans! What’s on your list this time around?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m thinking Too Faced Glitter Glue — I have too many pretty UD shadows that seriously need it!

Maybe some lip products as well 🙂

I think I’m just going to drop by Sephora at the mall tomorrow. It’s just too easy to drop things in my cart and make impulse buys. Plus, I’ve got to pick up my VIB birthday gift! 🙂

Wonder what price will will have for the set here. Although I’d like some other shades more, I will probably get this set anyway 😉

Ignite looks so pretty. I’m trying to keep my Sephora cart to just restocking the necessities (mascara, eye cream, etc) but I also really want to try something new and like the Tarte lip surgence collection or the Bobbi Brown party palette. I also want new blush which is insane because I have so many. Regardless, I’ve been waiting for this sale and know I will spend over my budget!

My Sephora cart will stay empty. I’m planning on slipping one of the Chanel cream shadows into my Christmas shopping.

This is a pretty lipgloss set but $45 is a little pricey for lipglosses. Lipglosses would have to be beyond amazing for me to spend that much. Lol.

I’m so tempted to pick up more stuff during the VIB event. It seems like every beauty brand is having their F&F sales right now. Can’t they spread out these events a little?

Is that micro glitter? It looks like micro glitter! 🙂 I think Ignite would be my favorite of the three, but they all look really pretty. I’ll have to have a look around Sephora online – I’m sure there’s something I need!

I bought the full-size Imagine last year. I was in love with the color – and still think it’s lovely. Unfortunately, though, I had a terrible reaction — after a few days of wearing it it literally felt like my lips were sunburned, then painful and chapped. I almost never react this way to lip products. I stopped using it for a month, and when I tried it again, sure enough, it totally irritated my lips. I recently had this same experience with La Mer’s lip balm. I use their moisturizing cream, cleansing gel etc, so I thought it would be perfection. I wonder what it is in these two ingredients? I can wear pretty much anything but these two things with no problems.

      Hi R,

Does La Mer’s Lip Balm have glitter? I know some ladies have sensitivities to small micro glitter in some lip balms/glosses.

Hey sweetie! Nope, no glitter. I am a glitter freak – it’s in loads of my regular lip products w/no problem, as long as it’s a quality product. A Victoria’s secret lippie once chapped me a little, but I’d be hard-pressed to find anything non-sparkly in my lip stash… 😉

      Hi Yelena,

A few mascara ideas for you…

      Ultraflesh Panthera Mascara:

Urban Decay Cannonball layered with Buxom Amplified:

How about Dior’s lash primer (“Maximizer”)? It works under any mascara. I use Covergirl LashBlast now, but I *love* Fresh’s “Supernova” mascara.

Guerlain bronzers for blush are a favorite of mine. I don’t know your complexion obviously, but I’m an NC42 and I wear the #3. Love.
