60-Second Review: MAC All For Glamour Touch Up Kit in Medium Dark

October 30th, 2012 by Karen 31 Comments

MAC All For Glamour Touch Up Kit in Medium Dark
Wearing the new MAC All For Glamour Touch Up Kit in Medium Dark on my face and lips

If the new MAC All For Glamour Touch Up Kit in Medium Dark ($39.50) were any cuter, I’d pinch its puffy satin cover and start speaking baby talk to it…

Who’s dat cute widdle kit?! Who’s dat cute widdle kit?! Wid da pwush widdle cubuh?! Is it you? Is it you?! YES, it’s you! You’re da cute widdle kit!! 🙂

The two products it protects, a colorless Blot Pressed Powder in Medium Dark and a pinkish neutral beige Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Bare Again, are products I would normally reach for any day of the week…

Blot, as a matter of fact, is one of my MAC staples. I literally never leave home without it, literally, but I think the Blot MAC included in this kit looks and feels different than the formulation I’m used to.

I’m not sure if the one here is just a bad apple, but when I apply it, it looks cake-y on my skin.

Bluh.

As for the Sheen Supreme Lipstick, pretty! — but not altogether original. That’s okay, I guess. It’s lovely, if not entirely dupable.

Eh, Kanye Shrug. The All For Glamour Touch Up Kit may be cute as a button on the outside, but its products aren’t blowing my mind.

PRICE: $39.50

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: C+

*Sigh*-a neat idea, but at this price point, I’d expect the products to be good, if not stellar!?

On an aside, how cute is that picture of Tabs and you (in your boots)-under the “Random Posts” tab.

Totally with you, musical. It’s holiday — gifts should feel extra special, you know?

LOL, yeah, that pic is fun. Tabs absolutely HATES those boots. I’m surprised he hasn’t attacked them yet.

      How are ya doing? 🙂

You nailed it! Gifts are meant to be special :).

Tabs looks surprisingly calm in that picture, considering his feelings towards those boots ;).

I am good-glad that I have dinner ready in the fridge-cooked some stuff yesterday!

Aw, too bad that the content of this cute little box is a bit of a letdown 🙁

Bummer on the products because the package is sooo cute.

On a side note, I just ate a cup of muller frut up yogurt. It was good but then I read the label and saw that it contained tilapia. Apparently that’s where the kosher gelatin they use comes from. It’s such an odd thought that I wished I’d read it beforehand (or not at all). HAHA!

I can’t believe I missed all of yesterday’s awesome Halloween posts! No, I’m good with the fish (which I never really cared to eat), it’s just the shellfish (which I love) that I’m allergic to. 🙂

I love mac, 90% of my collection is mac. However, don’t waste your time on these holiday sets, they’re always terrible quality. Pick things out from the permanent range for Christmas instead.

Sometimes there are great kits, but from the stuff I’ve seen so far, it’s more about the outer packaging.

I still have a few more kits to test, so maybe something great will turn out!

I have been loving the Glamour Daze collection so far, though, especially the eyeshadows.

I love the lipstick in Bare Again–it’s just my kind of color and I like the shine it has. Still, I don’t know that I like that enough to buy the kit with the Blot powder…

      Hi Becca,

I loooove Blot to bits, but this one seems a little off. 🙁 Try one of their full-size versions in the compact. It’s excellent!

Hi. I saw your paint swatch a few posts ago, i think it is lovely. But I wanted to let you know that when you order the paint you can ask them to lighten it. They usually ask for a percent, like 20% lighter. I do it all the time.

      Hi Kelly,

Thanks for letting me know. And it doesn’t mess up the original color?

Oh, I recently painted one wall in my living room a similar blue, I added a design with painters tape. Painting one accent wall is an option if you are worried about too much color. I’ll send you a picture through email. Sorry none of this is beauty related. 🙂

      Hi Kelly,

I just got your email! No need to apologize at all. Half the stuff I talk about in the comments with the girls here is non-beauty related. 🙂 You’ve got some really great design skills!

Cool. That’s good to know. I think I might ask them to lighten it a little bit. That’s cool what you did with the painter’s tape, btw. I love it!
