$6 Clean and Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Wipes Do Double Duty

October 23rd, 2009 by Karen 38 Comments

clean-and-clear-makeup-dissolving-facial-cleansing-wipes

To streamline my travel beauty routine and the airport screening process, I try to avoid packing products that 1) are liquids and 2) require a bunch of steps to use.

That’s why, for my trip last week, I grabbed a pack of Clean and Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes ($6 for a pack of 25).

They’re pre-moistened and come in a re-sealable bag that fits snugly into my carry-on luggage (a suitcase small enough for an overhead bin).

These beauties do double duty, making them ideal for travel. They remove most kinds of makeup (gloss, foundation, powder, blush and eyeshadow with ease) and cleanse skin at the same time. Even better, you don’t have to rinse.

After late nights playing Kitty Glitter, I liked returning to my room and removing my makeup in a flash.

They feel soft against my skin, have a light soapy scent that smells fresh and clean, and I don’t detect a residue or sticky film (I use them on my face and neck) after using one.

But when pitted against waterproof makeup, they kinda disappoint.

It took a lot of gentle rubbling to thoroughly remove long-wearing products like MAC Fluidline, Stila Lash Visor Waterproof Mascara and Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner.

It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but it does keep them from earning flying colors.

Being just $6 per pack, feeling great on my skin and smelling so nice, I think they’re a great bargain, but I do wish they worked a little better on waterproof stuff… Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

I’ve heard about them but I never had the chance to try them out. I use facial-wipes very rare (when I’m exhausted and too lazy to do my cleansing routine)and my last choice was L’Oreal De-Maq Expert Wipes. They were pretty good and I was pleased with the result.

Tabs looks so cute 🙂 If I tried to do that to my cat, she’d probably rip my face off. And she has extra toes too, to really get into those fleshy areas.

    Tabs looks adorable!!!

I actually just picked these same wipes up last week, because I couldn’t find my beloved L’Oreal wipes despite going to 2 target’s. I think the clean and clear ones are okay but I LOVE the L’Oreal ones so much more! They are softer and smell better and work better 🙂

If you want a soft wipe that takes off waterproof makeup I suggest you try Pond’s Wet Cleansing Towelettes in Original Clean scent. I’ve been using them for years, and they always make me feel fresh and take off my waterproof mascara with gentle rubbing. My MAC fluidline comes off ridiculously easy, too.

Hope they’ll work for you as well! 😉

Sweet. Fluidline is so hard to remove so I will have to check it out. 🙂

Got any exciting plans for the weekend?

Ugh, these sounded awesome til I got to the waterproof makeup part. I live in New England, and apparently right now is monsoon season, so I can’t live without my waterproof makeup!
Tabs looks fierce in that tie! I wish my cats would still let me dress them up… it’s been an ongoing struggle ever since they realized they have claws.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, Tibby Tabs looks so cute. I could pinch his cheeks. I’m sure he isn’t too amused that I’ve said that. Maybe you should get him a tie with a fish on it; the ladybug is a little girlie for Tabs, I think.

Well, I got one essay completely done (yay!) and one needs one more page plus revision and the last one…I don’t even want to think about it. I don’t even have the header on it yet. Even Zena is bored of my typing on this here computer.

We are on day two of rain. Yep, day two. Zena has done nothing but sleep all day. She doesn’t even want to play. Yep, the rain is hampering even Zena’s mood. Maybe a bright ribbon would lift her laziness a bit.

I bought these wipes awhile ago but my skin can’t stand them. I have a tendancy to get irritations from facial wipes 🙁 So I ended up with red splotchy skin and a tight face. My eyelids burned a little too o__o After that incident I banned myself from trying any other facial wipes but quickly turned to baby wipes…. Though I hate the fact that even baby wipes contain parabens 🙁 Huggies Lavender and Chamomile baby wipes are just lovely<3

Tabs is so handsome. I like to use cleansing wipes for several occasions.I like using cleansing wipes when I am not wearing a lot of makeup; when I need the extra step to remove makeup residue like foundation; and during those late nights of going out. In general, most cleansing wipes I have used make up skin feel very soft and moisturized afterwards.

I use the Kirkland Signature wipes . . . My sensitive face started reacting to the Pond’s wipes. I often use them at night to get the more difficult makeup off (like my UD glitter liner and mascara) before I wash my face. Sometimes I *just* wash my face with the wipe and go to bed. They’re super cheap, too. Another thing that I like about them (versus some of the other wipes) is that they have the tabbed closure, rather than the sticker-kind of closure. Those sticker ones always end up unsealing and drying out half of my pack of wipes.

These are GREAT for camping/backpacking/climbing trips, too. I use them for other places besides my face, too. Because you don’t have to make these wet, you don’t run the risk of contaminating the outdoors with soap and such.

Do these wipes leave your face feeling moisturized? That’s my biggest concern. Well, that & the fact that I use MACs fluidline in black on my top lashline basically every day so I would need something that helps me out with that. Sometimes I end up rubbing my eyelid until it’s a little puffy 🙁 I definitely don’t need that with my naturally sleepy-lookin’ eyes.. Thanks for the review 🙂 I love loove *looove* your detailed product reviews 🙂

I prefer Nivea Aqua pads that come in a plastic box with a lid, since these always leak that liquid all over my bag so I have to make sure they are in a plastic sealed bag. After a year of using Niveas ones i just a month ago discovered that they’re only for eye make up. But I still use them all over, since most of my make up is on eyes…

I’m good, resting from a not so peaceful flight home…

Oh my word, Kitty Glitter looks like the kind of slot machine game you’d find in heaven. Also your cat love amazing and dignified. Anyway I tried one makeup remover towelette thing that I liked a lot. I think it was Dove and you had to moisten it and it foamed up, but it left my face a lot less dry than the wet kind. I’ll have to try these out sometime!

I really like the Neutrogena wipes in the blue package. I’m surprised no one mentioned them in the comments. I haven’t had any issues removing waterproof makeup with them, they’re also about $6, and they don’t leave a film on my face. I tried to save a few bucks last month and bought the store brand ones…yuck. They leave an icky residue on my face and they smell cheap, if that makes any sense.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Kitty Glitter. That’s amazing. Someone needs to make eye glitter named that. It can come in a very tiny litter box with a little scooper! It’s amazing that I’m not in marketing, I know.

Tabs looks adorable. I could never get my kitties to wear anything. Back in May of ’94, I made little paper crowns for my family’s two kittens who were turning 1 (sadly, Iceman is no longer around, but Aisha is still happy and healthy). There are photos of them with the little hats on, but they do not look pleased.

I feel like I should add that this took place at the end of second grade. I swear I wasn’t making paper cat hats in college or anything.
