This Week on Makeup and Beauty Blog

Good morning, fair lady. 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day to all you hot mommas out there. Tabs, as expected, didn’t even get me a card or flowers. Oh, well…

Ha! I think that’s enough crazy cat lady for one Sunday. Back to beauty — did you have a favorite product this week? I really enjoyed hearing about Rosebud Salve. I’ve used it before, but it drifted off my radar screen until Julianne’s guest post this week. Time to grab a tin and get reacquainted, methinks.

Have a great morning! Talk to you soon.

Tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner in Donutella, and One Way to Wear Pink

Tokidoki Perfetto Eyeliner in Donutella, and One Way to Wear Pink“Um… pink liner? Yup, it ain’t your average basic brown or black, but that’s no reason to fear, because Donutella is here! This cutie’s actually downright wearable. Here’s one subtle way to wear it that’s pretty doable for daytime. I used a mix of products from MAC, Tokidoki and Rimmel.”

The $14 Urban Decay Face Case

The $14 Urban Decay Face Case“They say good things come in small packages, and in the matter of Urban Decay’s Face Case, it’s true. Well… mostly. The small price for this cutie pie initially caught my eye — a mere $14 for a complete makeup palette for eyes, lips and cheeks! Gotta love a steal of a deal!”

Bobbi Brown Made Treatment Lip Shine a Lippie Triple Threat

Bobbi Brown Made Treatment Lip Shine a Lippie Triple Threat“Each tube’s a sheer (unflavored and unscented) lipstick, moisturizing treatment and sunblock rolled into one. I’ve been rotating among Pink Glisten, Raspberry Pink and Moonlight Rose. Each one shines softly with a consistently thin, non-sticky texture, three-hour wear time and semi-transparent opacity. Great for casual, summery lips.”

The Highlighting Power of Rosebud Salve

The Highlighting Power of Rosebud Salve“We all know the famous Smith’s Rosebud Salve, the famed multi-purpose medicating machine in the pretty tin can. You can use it on your lips, on your skin, and on your diaper rash. It’s always sold right by the cashiers at Sephora with all of the other beauty musts, like the Shu Uemura eyelash curler. It’s an American classic.
”

Maximize Your Flirty Fringe with Rimmel The Max Volume Flash Mascara

Rimmel The Max Volume Flash Mascara“Available in Black and Extreme Black, Max Volume Flash latches on to lashes like they’re going out of style, separating and defining every last one of ’em (even the small stumpy ones). Two to three coats create a full, feathery lash look Mr. Snuffleupagus would envy.”

Neutrogena Hydrating Cleansing Towelettes: Another Great Reason to Wear Makeup

Neutrogena Hydrating Cleansing Towelettes“The first things I noticed about these were the minty floral fragrance and how soft they feel — like a bunny’s tail. The scent caught my attention, but the texture stole my heart! I have combination dry/oily skin, and many wipes don’t work well for me, particularly when it comes to removing waterproof makeup. No such trouble…”

Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara: The One-Hit Wonder

Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara“The first time I applied a layer of it, I liked the results so much that I was sure I was seeing a new must-have mascara for spring, something able to hold its own against MAC Opulash, and I was prepared to wager my favorite pair of platform sandals on it…”

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I actually tried out the pink-liner look (except with foiled pink eyeshadow since I don’t have any pink, or bright-colored for the matter, liners)! I love it! It was so fun and looked really cute and fresh. I’m definitely keep doing it with other colored liners! 🙂

hey karen! had a GREAT time at my first nordstrom beauty trunk show yesterday: 600 people! such an awesome experience! walked away with some great products and goodies, tried lancome for the first time and am so happy with my purchases. FINALLY got the new juicy tube in sheerfully sweet, and then before heading home, made it to the only freestanding mac store in my area to trade in 6 empties for the recycling program to get lychee luxe! what a day…

Hi Karen! Got my Crush Glow this week. Luuuuuurve it! I’ve actually never used Dior shadow before, and I have to say they get shimmer just right. Extremely minimal migration after a full day of wear, which is HUGE for me. And these colors are so gorgeous.

Got my Nymphette, too — love it! My coloring is very different from yours, but this just seems to work. I’m so set for summer makeup!

Back home …. and kinda tired. 🙂

Its been an awesome week for me, personally and beauty-wise. I found my much coveted 226 brush from someone who was willing to part with it…. so happy. 🙂

Your review on the Bobbi Brown treatment lip shines was fabulous and I wound up getting 3 of them along with 2 pot rouges for Mother’s Day! I’m going to be so pretty this summer!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
