Limited Edition Sheer Stella Summer Eau de Toilette Available Now at Sephora

Stella Sheer eau de toilette

On sale now at Sephora, the limited edition Sheer Summer ($58; 3.3 oz eau de toilette spray) by Stella McCartney is a new version of the original Stella fragrance that lets soft summer shadows reflect the delicacy of fresh rose petals. The elegant bottle design mirrors the sophisticated, light-hearted spirit of the scent.

According to Stella, the fragrance is “bright with the promise of summer,” beginning with sparkling green apple and frosted lemon and offering an irresistible bouquet of peony and roses, seducing with the warm glow of amber.

Yummy…

Kiehl’s Introduces “Weightless” Curl-Defining Spray

Kiehls Weightless Curl-Defining Spray

On sale now at Kiehl’s, the new Weightless Curl-Defining Spray ($17.50; 5 oz spray) is designed to strengthen and fortify curly hair while providing lightweight, long-lasting definition and hold. According to Kiehl’s, it “revives curls and waves for a soft and voluminous effect” with a blend of natural ingredients like sesame seed oil, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil, silk powders and Vitamin E. Its non-greasy formula “allows for extended control over unwanted fly-aways and frizz,” while imparting natural curls with a healthy-looking shine.

Does New Grassroots Research Vitamin C Power Brightening Cream SPF 25 Help Diminish Discolorations and Age Spots?

Grassroots Vitamin C Power Cream
Grassroots claims their new Vitamin C Power Brightening Cream SPF 25 ($32.50; 1.7 oz cream) with Vitamins E and B5 is backed by real clinical research. After four weeks, 88% of subjects reported visibly brighter skin.

With a blend of mandarin orange, bitter orange, grapefruit and lemon, a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 25 and “a powerful combination of other protective vitamins including Vitamin E and B5,” it protects against the effects of free radicals and increases moisture in the skin.

Purchase a Cut and Color at Fekkai Salons in March and Get a Complimentary Lip Wax or Manicure

Fekkai salons March promotions

Through March at Fekkai salon locations nationwide, stop in for a cut and color and Fekkai will throw in a free manicure or lip waxing ($32 value).

Or, opt for a mani/pedi instead and receive a complimentary pedicure upgrade ($20 value).

New Bumble & Bumble Bb. Gel and Gellac Styling Gels Perfected at Fashion Week

Bumble and Bumble Gel and Gelac

B&B says their new Bb. Gel ($24; 5 oz) and Gellac ($24; 4.2 oz) styling gels were developed backstage at Fashion Week.

Both products go on sale March 9. Bb. Gel can be applied, shaped, dried and easily brushed out to create amazingly soft shapes with memory and hold. It’s perfect for spring’s neat, simple pony.

Gellac, on the other hand, is B&B’s powerhouse product and based on an old compound called Gafquat 732, which has long been used to create extreme, shiny shapes for photo shoots but is close to impossible to rinse out. B&B’s team of chemists solved the problem with Gellac, making it removable with any Bumble and bumble shampoo. It’s “a product for those who like to take risks and experiment with bold styles.”

This, I gotta try. 🙂

Super Saturday

What’s shaking, ladies? Do anything fun today? I just got back from seeing The Watchmen with El Hub and really liked it. I hadn’t read the graphic novel, but the movie impressed me. I went in expecting standard superhero fare (which I also like) but was pleasantly surprised.

It’s more a parody of superheroes than a traditional superhero story. Time Magazine lists The Watchmen graphic novel among its best 100 novels of all time.

A comic book one of the best 100 novels of all time? Cool.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Evening Karen! Today I was up in wine country and it was such a fabulous day! Went to Rutherford Grill for lunch (so delish) and then went to the Castello di Amorosa winery then Dean & DeLuca’s THEN the outlets, whew. I got a freakin FAB salmon pink leather purse at the Coach outlet for $101 bucks! I am over the moon about this find 🙂

I want to see The Watchmen, I love movies made from graphic novels. One of my fav movies is Frank Miller’s Sin City.

I want to see Watchmen too. I hope to see it at the IMAX.

I have to tell you that I know you are a fan of the Twilight series. Well, I finally got around to reading the books this week and OMG… how did I miss these books for so long? I prefer book 1 & 4 but loved the whole series. I can’t wait til the end of March to see the movie on DVD.

    Hi Karen,
Your Rachel Ray banner ad is misleading. When you click on it, it takes you to a website for an Acai berry weightloss product. If you research the web, it’s pretty much a scam. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/health&id=6552767 Dr. Oz nor Oprah endorse any Acai weight loss product, and their lawyers are fighting to remove their names associated with it. Caveat emptor.

I love buble and bumble styling products (like tonic and prep and brilliantine) BUT their shampoos are just not so good for e. I want to try out those gels so bad.. but if you need to wash them out with a bb. shampoo……OH DEAR!

To be honest, I liked the old format better. It was easier to navigate. 🙂

Oooh, can’t wait to smell that new Stella. I really liked the original, and this one sounds yummy. And omg… that styling gel from B&B sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. Their products are just so expensive though, I’m not sure I can justify it, especially right now. I’ll keep it in mind though.

I’ve heard that movie was good but since it’s a long one I’m going to wait until it’s out on DVD. My family and I went to the local Renaissance Festival. The weather was perfect for it and we had a really great time.

Ooh I’d love to try Kiehl’s wave defining spray. I’ve been letting my hair air dry for the past few weeks and I’m still looking for products to help my waves stay sleek and frizz free.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
