Makeup Giveaway Ongoing: Get Yours!

January 21st, 2009 by Karen 15 Comments

Free Cosmetics Part Of Class-Action Lawsuit

Department stores started giving away free cosmetics yesterday as part of that class-action lawsuit I mentioned the other day. I haven’t made it down to the mall yet, but come hell or high water I’ll be there today.

Manufacturers were sued for fixing prices, so $175 million worth of beauty products are being made available as part of the settlement.

Folks who purchased products (from these stores) between 1994 and 2003 are eligible for the free swag, which includes products from Chanel, Lancome, L’Oreal, Estee Lauder, Clinique, Christian Dior, Clarins, Calvin Klein, Guerlain and more, and you don’t even need a receipt or proof of purchase to qualify.

The guilty parties hope to buy our silence with free makeup. “We’re sorry we tried to cheat you … but can’t we just put it behind us and be friends?” Works for me, LOL!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Here’s a full list of products available to us in the giveaway.

girl can i tell you my behind tried yesterday

i work right around the corner of macys herald square and can i tell you there was a line in the morning atleast 2 NYC blocks long !! the worst part is they are making you stand outside in 19 degree weather!

i snuck inside of macys last night when i got out of the gym with a friend they closed off the form for the night and when we got out of macys we realized there was still a line outside.

i dont know if its handled differently in other states but all i know is the $25 product isnt that worth it for me if i have to stand in a crowd in the freezing cold

I was at Macy’s here right at 10 am and was one of the first people in line. There was no wait so I was in and out. I got Clinique’s Moisture Surge and am in love just after one use!

So yesterday I popped by my local mall which is literally like 3 blocks away on my way home from work. Popped into Macy’s and 🙁 the line was RIDICULOUS! Seriously… I didn’t even wait in a line that long to vote. Some folks are obviously cheating the rules too because I asw WAAAAY too many fellas in that line for me to believe they have all bought something. Anyway I was a little tired and hungry…so I didn’t bother. Thus…I am taking a late lunch today (in a few moments) and hoping that the wednesday afternoon crowd will be better than the Tuesday 7pm crowd…Wish me luck.

TUPRNUT…I have used Moisture Surge for 15 years now…my mom was smart enough to listen to my derm when he said clinique when i kept getting eczema and rashes on my cheeks…she took me to the clinique counter for my 13th birthday. I love it…and that’s what I will be getting too.

I went yesterday and snagged the Coco Mad lotion. It was very satisfying, because it came in the white Chanel box with the cellophane wrap, and everything.

I was all proud of my one little sample, but my girlfriend totally took the cake. She went to three different malls with changes of clothes in the back of her car. Then, she switched outfits, hats, and glasses so that she could go through the lines multiple times. She ended up with 20 free samples!!!!! She’s pretty much stocked for the year.

I can’t imagine waiting in line for any of those products. I’d rather purchase products than waste my time in line just because it’s free. Looks like Loni’s friend picked up my stuff (and several other peoples’)anyway.

Just read Loni’s comment. Damn, your girl knows how to survive. haha. I haven’t gone yet, but my friend just told me the mall closest to me only has Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair left.. Oh Coco or J’dore please still be there when I come for you 😛

    UPDATE:
The late lunch was a great approach. I waited less than 5 minutes and got my moisture surge. BUT I would say if you are going, you better go soon…again it looks like a lot of men are going along and getting samples too…and they only had like 4 or 5 things left at the closest Macys – They definitely had the Clinique, Estee Lauder and Lancome… not sure what else though.

Um, I was in downtown San Francisco today and Macy’s (mens and womens) had lines that went around the block. Nordies in the Westfield Mall was really calm–I didn’t really see anyone there trying to get anything free. I know you didn’t need a receipt or anything, but I wasn’t eligible so I didn’t feel the need to try to get any free goods. I’m really just waiting for MAC Hello Kitty to launch already!

What did you end up getting? Hope you had a good one anyway! =)

What a scam! Let’s see. You wait on line thinking you are getting someone really valuable and all you get is a sample size tube of moisturizer. What a brilliant way to get millions of females (and some males) back in the stores and malls of America!

    Hi Lulu,

I guess if you don’t have to wait that long then it’s worth the time!

    Hi Lesley,

So, I didn’t end up getting anything. 🙁 The line was too long and time just hasn’t been on my side yesterday.

That’s CRAZY that there were lines around the block, yikes!

I hope you’re having a lovely Thursday so far. Can you believe this rain?

The line at Macy’s was too long. There were approximately 400 or more in line. Perhaps it should have been held in a different manner.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
