A Sprinkle of Urban Decay Stardust for Your Eyes

January 11th, 2010 by Karen 34 Comments

Ouch!

Sorry for the outburst, ladies, but I must have gotten a little stardust in my eyes… 🙂

It must have happened while I was playing with Urban Decay’s new Stardust Eyeshadows ($20, available in nine shades) for spring.

Observe the claw marks in the pan of Moon Spoon on the right…

LOL! Guess I should trim my nails. But seriously, it must have happened in transit. No, I do not have Wolverine claws. 🙂

Anywho, let’s talk about glitter for a sec because, according to Urban Decay, these sheer cuties will blind you with shine-ance, thanks to something UD calls “reflex” — an ingredient that supposedly makes the stuff cling better to lids.

Reflex… Corny name, but who cares if it works, right? I haven’t tried ’em out yet, but I’ll let you know. For now I’m keeping my clawed fingers crossed.

Whew! What a day, ladies. I’m frazzle-bedazzled, but at least we got Monday out of the way.

What are you doing tonight? Anything fun?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Sarah, I’m sorry to hear about your breakup. Those are always so hard to work through. How are you doing now? I hope things are better for you.

It looks like Tabs got his claws into Moon Spoon. They’re very pretty shades, but I think I’m all glittered out for now. I need a good dose of unglittered products for a few weeks or so.

The packaging looks very un-UD-ish. I like their wacky, artsy packaging (well, except for UDPP. That’s just wasteful).

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don’t know why, but the font on the cases makes me think of Star Trek!

I was going to say Star Wars because the ‘s’ and ‘t’ are connected, only the font is thinner in width. I think they would have been more along the lines of UD if they added a lightsaber or blaster or the Enterprise or something quirky. They look so ‘blah’ without any of the standard UD quirkiness.

A Tabs silhouette would be cute too. Tabs seems like a glitter kitty. Zena isn’t a glitter dog. She’s more of the aristocratic type of dog. Come to think of it, the Smashbox Reign Collection was very Zena-ish.

A Tabs silhouette would be AWESOME. He definitely loves his bling. 😉

Hmmm… they look kind of like pressed MAC reflects glitters kind of in the swatches? I was hoping they’d be more pigmented than that though… I’ll have to see how they look on your eyes before passing judgment. Happy to see the glitters are quite fine though. =)

And LOL. It totally does look like Tabs stepped in Moon Spoon or something.

Yah, me too. If they were too chunky I wouldn’t have been able to handle it!

LOL, maybe Tabs was doing the moonwalk in the pan of Moon Spoon!

These shadows are really appealing to the funky-makeup-loving, David Bowie-obsessed side of me! I mean, there’s even a shade named “Diamond Dog”! I cannot wait to try these, but I don’t know which color(s) to buy first!

Oh my, they are absolutely gorgeous! I like the tiny sparkle effect they have. But $20 is kinda pricey…

I’m really liking moon spoon. The other two don’t seem quite pigmented enough for me, but I do like that the shimmer/glitter is really fine. Sparkles! = pretty 😀

I’m really looking forward to hearing how the fallout is on these. Their regular giltter eyeshadows have quite a bit of fallout, so I’m wondering how shadows that are even MORE sparkly will fare.

Hi Karen! I was just thinking about this collection the other day when I also made a post about the new spring products from Urban Decay. The swatches look very nice, glittery of course, which it means for me at least that I will be wearing them for a evening makeup. I’m expecting some of their products soon and I can’t wait for it. I’m also very excited about their new eyeshadow primer in Eden. 🙂

    Heya youre back! Yay!

Im loving those shadows but am a little wary because too much glitterysparkly things might not be work appropriate.

Last night was lazy – worked out, nommed and watched House and Fringe with the Hubs and our furkids!

    Have a great week ahead!!!

Some of these glitzy shades just aren’t for me. Space cowboy can be layered over something neutral for a bit of a pop, but I’m just not feelin’ it. I want to try their new primer potion in Eden and I want the Alice in Wonderland palette. Those two are about the only thing I’m psyched about in the spring collections. I Lurve me some UD but I gotta Lurve on Alice in Wonderland before some of the reflex glitters lol.

Well! Those shadows are nice. I was afraid of them when I first heard because I thought it’d be a glitter situation straight out of high school, but apparently not. My fear was unfounded.

As for the night, I’ll be spending most of it in front of the television. Although I’ve already watched seasons 1-5 of Lost, I’m re-watching everything to gear up for the 6th and final season. I’m so excited!

These type of shadows seem to be the new thing. In CVS today I noticed that HIP which is now Studio Secrets or something has a bunch of new shadows that resemble these. Revlon also has lots of new satin eye shadows that are very similar. I love glitter so I can’t wait to see where else these shimmery trends lead!

I saw these online and went to try them at Sephora only to realize I hadn’t read closely enough. They’re not out till Spring! I hate when bloggers get hold of things long before they’ll hit the shelves. I can’t take the anticipation!
