NARS recently added nine new shades of lip gloss ($24 each) to their permanent line, and yes, some of them have scandalous monikers.
Incidentally, awkward is seeing a picture of yourself grinning nonchalantly on the Interwebz with the words “Sexual Content” next to your head.
Outrage!
You know what they say, though… No Regrets.
The standouts for me among this new crop o’ colors are the mid-tone rose, berry and brown shades. NARS poured all of the pigment into Sexual Content, Fever Beat, Mythic Red, No Regrets, Pulsion and Love Me Do, and there’s so much intensity there that they could pass for glossy liquid lipsticks.
Thumbs up! I’ve been wearing Pulsion and Mythic Red the most, usually with taupe or golden brown eyeshadow.
On the sheer side, there’s creamy coral Outage (which I LOVE, especially layered on top of a light coral lippie), pale pastel purple Color Me (bluh, patchy) and golden glittery Sexy Time (which is grrrritty).
Par for the course, these don’t smell or taste like anything, and the formula is moderately thick but not goop-y or sticky. They feel a lot like the MAC Lipglasses and Chanel Glossimers IMO, which I like.
Do you have a favorite NARS lip gloss? From this batch here, see anything you like?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love all of these shades! I always wanted to try NARS products, especially lip glosses, I’m very curious about them!
Karen says
You should! Give Chelsea Girls a try. It’s a brownish pink from the permanent collection.

Can makeup companies PLEEEEEEEEEAAAASSSEEE give their products names that I don’t mind sharing with my young daughter??? My goodness. I’m not a prude but this is just unnecessary. The edgy factor is getting old 😛
On another note, the shades are beautiful on you 🙂
Karen says
Hi Audrey,
RIGHT?! Give me a sweet name (or heck, even one that describes the color like “Warm coral”) any day.
How old is your daughter? My little girl (I can’t believe I just said that, she was just a baby two seconds ago) just turned three.
Audrey says
Hello, Karen 🙂
My little girl (she will ALWAYS be my little girl) will be 11 in July. I also have 2 boys who are currently 8 and 3. You’re doing a wonderful job raising Connor Claire. She’s beautiful, intelligent and kind just like her mama!
Along the topic of risque makeup names, you won’t be finding Too Faced BTS mascara, NARS Orgasm or Deep Throat floating in my collection. Makeup companies and their juvenile tenancies to be edgy won’t be getting my hard earned dollars, but I doubt they’ll be losing sleep over that lol.

I bet that 11 years went by fast, didn’t it? Everyone says the years fly by and they certainly do. I have lots of friends with kids in high school right now and they say that 14-18 goes by in a blur. I know it’s silly but I get emotional even now just thinking about my daughter leaving and going to college! It’s hard to imagine not seeing her every day.

NARS glosses are my favorite lip product from the brand, and I am not a lip gloss person, generally. For some reason, I get reactions to other lip products from the brand. I have Chelsea Girls now and have had other shades at one time or another. I think I have a mini shade of Dolce Vita. I also like the Chanel glosses but haven’t purchased any in awhile.
Karen says
Hi Jane,
I’m a Chelsea Girls fan, too! I have a tube in my purse right now. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’ve got to give Dolce Vita Lipstick a go. It’s a gorgeous wearable rosy red!
Kim says
Mythic Red looks super Pink! No Regrets would probably be most to my liking, with the brown vibe, of course.
Karen says
Yes, I was surprised by the name too! It’s very pink on lips.
Chelsea says
Outrage and No Regrets are gorgeous on you!
I feel like the “scandalous” names are just kind of passé now anyway. It was very much novel when they released Orgasm but now everyone does it and it’s not unique. It has a big part of the Nars branding though…
Karen says
I’m over it. I almost wish they’d commit to just using the names of cities and places (which is what a lot of their products do). At least I learn some geography, LOL!
Chelsea says
I learned geography through an outdated version of the board game Risk. Anything that was part of Yugoslavia or the USSR is a little sketchy in my knowledge base. ?

Oh I love No Regrets and Fever Beat on you! How beautiful! I’m not much of a gloss girl, but these look lovely.
