What Are You Wearing on Your Nails Today?

January 30th, 2010 by Karen 61 Comments

G’morning, ladies. 🙂 How’d you sleep, and did you do anything fun last night? I had pizza, again (third week in a row!), and then just messed around with Tabs and painted my nails at home. I’d meant to watch Caprica but got home a little too late.

Here’s what I picked for my nails: NARS Purple Rain ($16). It’s the sole nail color in their spring collection.

I feel like I could lose myself in that deep violet shimmer…

The formula was thicker than I expected and bubbled a wee bit (took me a couple tries to get it right), but I like how it turned out.

Are you wearing anything on your nails today or sportin’ nekkid claws? 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Last night was low-key: takeout pizza & a movie (Little Children — it disturbed me) with the bf, while I painted my nails with Rimmel’s Steel Grey. I never used Rimmel polish before, and don’t think I will again. It took forever to dry, and my nails were smudge city.

I am wearing a thin layer of Still Standing by Sally Hansen. With one layer it looks like my natural skin tone but, with shimmer! Unfortunately, it’s severely worn off and looks bad, now. Ahh, I’ll paint them again soon. Maybe with a silver polish inspired by Chanel?!

Omigosh my first comment in like, a bigalion years! I’m rockin it out to OPI’s “You Don’t Know Jacques.” I’m ♥’in the whole matte trend this season.. I’ve been SO busy that my mani’s have taken a back seat. At least going matte takes like, two seconds to dry.

It’s so pretty! I was wearing a purple for most of the week on my toes: Essie Genius. Winter Ball is tonight so I’m changing my toenails to Essie One of a Kind, because even though it’s a spring color, my dress is a bit more spring than winter. Fingernails will have to wait – I’ve been painting them so often lately that they’re dry and need a little TLC before I do anything else. 🙂 And by TLC I mean six hours without polish and just a bit of cuticle cream lol. Do you have any suggestions for helping dry nails (but not going completely bare for a few weeks)?

My nails have been au natural for several weeks now. As much as I am on top of it with makeup, it’s such a process to keep changing up nail polish because of the dry time factor. And at the first sign of chipping, I hate how my nails look, and feel compelled to remove the polish….ahh the vicious cycle….

I’m wearing my newest addition, MAC “Blissed Out” from the Warm & Cozy Collection and it’s pretty…matte, peachy and a little darker than your regular nail color. I pulled the trigger last night on the most expensive nail polish I’ve ever bought, but the raves on various blogs convinced me to give it a shot; got 3 bottles of Rescue Beauty Lounge polish. Better be worth it, lol.

Oh man, that is so absolutely gorgeous! Some people were saying that it’s a dead dupe of China Glaze Let’s Groove… but I don’t think Let’s Groove had that blue and red microglitter!

I did my nails last night too! I’m wearing OPI Merry Midnight right now… but I might change it up again since I think I did one too many coats and lost the pretty jelly effect.

If you don’t have one of those nail polish remover tubs (generic CVS brand or what have you), you NEED one Karen!! I was actually in the midst of doing all the reading for and writing a 6 page ethics paper for my last GE due at midnight PST last night, and I was able to take off my Strawberry Fields + nail art manicure WHILE READING! It was great! Usually I have to spend about half an hour pressing remover soaked felt to my nails, picking off the rhinestones and stickers with tweezers and rubbing off the remaining polish. This time it probably took me around half an hour or longer still, but I totally didn’t mind because I could be doing something else, and my rhinestones for the most part just fell off on their own! I imagine it’d make suuuuper short work of any regular mani without rhinestones on it (like seriously 10 seconds or so per nail). I was super impressed. 😀

But yea, so that’s what my Friday night was like. Nail polish and abortion ethics lol. I did finish my essay a full hour before the deadline though. 😀

Oh, so pretty!! I may have to try that one on for size…..

Today was fun….I did a makeup Brunch party at my friends house….she’s new to the whole makeup thing, so I took ALL (yes, I mean ALL) of my stuff to her house, and I showed her how to do her eyes, really her WHOLE face–I used her drugstore-brand tinted moisturizer and powder (not the right shades, so I’m taking her to MAC/Sephora to get matched), but did MAC smokey eye with Copperplate, Knight and Mylar with Nars Orgasm Blush and a random MAC lipglass (neutral)…..she looked A-MAZING!!

We then did our nails…..mine are manic…..each nail on my left hand is a different shade and has a different accent on it (I went wild with her art-polishes….). When I calm down, I will re-do my nails…..most likely with my new Dior Silver Pearl.

Snowy Saturday here on the east coast……I’m just gonna stay indoors and keep warm (and dream I’m in Maui……)
