Milani Bare It All and My Friday Night Pedicure

Aloha nui loa (new ee low ah), ladies. pink hibiscus

Translation: Very much love.

My in-laws left to return to Hawaii early this morning, and Tabs, El Hub and I were so sad to see them go.

I can’t lie, though… I’m exhausted. After two exciting weeks filled with good conversation, I’m looking forward to just quietly going to bed early (after watching the latest Project Runway while I paint my nails, of course).

What were your Friday plans? Did you live la vida loca tonight?

After the past two weeks, I need a little break from excitement, so I think I’ll paint my nails with something subtle, like one of these colors from Milani’s limited edition Bare It All collection ($4.50 each).

I think the six polishes, which come in shades of pink, peach, taupe and gray, really suit my current mood. Since I have some nail swatching to do tomorrow, I’m only going to paint my toes tonight, and I could use your help choosing a color.

Which one’s your favorite?

Hey Karen! I’m kind of swamped in nudes right now – a lot of the collections are including them in their fall lineup – but this is really a pretty nude collection, just the same! I voted for Bare to Wear, which is a little different with its grey tone, and it looks lovely on you! Cute for your toes. Hope you’re having a great night!

      Hi Niki,

One can never have enough pretty nude polishes. 🙂 They easily transition from season to season and never go out of style!

What nudes are your faves for fall?

      Have a great weekend!

I’m really loving the Color Club nudes I just got done swatching today – some really interesting ones! I haven’t done my Deborah Lippmann Waking Up In Vegas yet, but it looks lovely in the bottle. The CC nudes always apply so well, too!

Isn’t it cool how certain lines make standard shades, like nudes, fresh and new? Love that. 🙂

I’m looking forward to seeing your swatches!

Loving all those shades, really. I have been way too lazy to paint my nails since I don’t know how when. Buffing has been the way to go for me lately.

Ooh, Karen. Enjoy last nights Project Runway! It was one for the ages!

Just winding down this evening and getting ready to do some grocery shopping tomorrow morning… I know, such excitement!

    Enjoy the peace and quiet!

LOL! It was fun. The food situation turned out to be okay — we just went out to eat. 😀 This week was like an international feast of flavors with French, Italian, Thai and Puerto Rican cuisine. I should probably hit the treadmill hard to work off the carbs, but it was worth every bite!

How have you been? And how is Sweet Pea? 🙂

Nothing wrong with doing the food tour once in a while!!

I’m good, ready to sleep LATE this weekend and veg out. Sweet Pea is adjusting well — she followed Mark upstairs last night and greeted him at the bedroom door when we got up this morning!

Any plans for the weekend besides finally catching your breath?

Aww, Sweet Pea is really turning on the charm. I bet she’ll have Mark wrapped around her little paw in no time flat.

This weekend is gonna be all about resting, cleaning and playing with Fabulous Felines! Meow!

At some point in time I also would like to take a walk with my camera and photograph our neighborhood… the leaves are already starting to fall off some of the trees. I’m so not ready to let fall go. 🙁

        Enjoy sleeping in tomorrow!

Coincidentally, I just bought “Truth Or Bare” about 10 days ago. I usually buy higher-end polish (Rescue Beauty Lounge, CND) because of the superior staying power, but I was taken with the pale peachiness of “Truth Or Bare”. I’m very impressed by the Milani quality; I had no chips at all for about 6 days and the polish application was a breeze (no streaks and only 2 coats were needed for an opaque finish). The whole collection is really pretty! Totally off topic, I just polished off about 5 spoonfuls of Nutella…no fruit, no bread…just the Nutella. I was hitting pretty hard, lol.

MY GIRL! You officially have nothing to worry about until you start carrying the stuff with you in your purse along with a spoon. Until then, it’s all good.

BTW, did you use a base/top coat with Truth Or Bare?

Ooh, are you watching the old school 90210 or the new one?

I’m all about the old school 90210. I tried to watch the new version but couldn’t get into it. My bestfriend and I were talking about the 90210 makeup line from back then. Do you remember that? All I remember is that I had a strawberry flavored clear gloss with a roller ball applicator lol

I don’t remember the makeup line, but I do remember the dolls! I was in high school at the time and secretly wanted them, LOL!

Isn’t it funny how none of the cast members (besides Brian Austin Green) actually looked like they were in high school?

P.S. Donna Martin graduates! Donna Martin graduates!

Whoops– voted for Bare to Wear instead of Bare in Mind! My eyes had me fooled here.

Anyway, peace out, Karen. I’m going to sleep. Hope you had a good time with the in-laws! 😀

Isn’t Project Runway great this season? I like how they’re showing just a bit more of the inter-designer drama than before. Just as long as it doesn’t turn into America’s Next Top Model, where it’s 30 minutes of drama and 15 minutes of modeling, I’ll be happy.

    Hi Karen-

When I am in CVS I always stop at the Milani counter and purchase a few items. They the have the most beautiful colors in everything: liners, lipsticks, polishes& lip liners!

What is the best are the prices!
BTW, How is your Mother in law?

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
