Eyeko Mixes Makeup and Manga: Say Kon’nichiwa to Their Six New Nail Polishes

December 18th, 2009 by Karen 53 Comments

eyeko nail polish

Eyekosuki desu ka? Do you like Eyeko? 🙂 If you like cheeky manga (Japanese comics) and makeup, you’re in luck. That’s Eyeko’s specialty! The UK brand has just released a new line of $5 nail polishes.

After taking a quick look at them this morning, I’m really liking the Indigo Polish, a shimmery blackish blue (kinda reminds me of Lancome’s Declaring Indigo), and Cosmic Polish, also a shimmery black, but with flecks of black, green and orange glitter.

Now, the Nude Polish caught me by surprise… I’m picky about my nude nail polishes, but unlike most of the ones I’ve tried before, Eyeko’s didn’t streak at all. Two coats deliver creamy, opaque coverage.

As for the other three shades — a little too bubbly and streaky for me.

I like the $5 price, but that’s assuming you can find them in a store. They haven’t been the easiest polishes to find in my area. The company does ship from across the pond, but shipping can be expensive and take up to 21 days, ouch!

Let me know what you think from these swatches and if you’d like to see more. 🙂

I am loving the Cosmic and Indigo! They look terrific! My 13 year old daughter is totally into manga, so I’ll have to show these to her. She draws her own characters and puts them on her art group board. I’ll definitely show her the Eyeko website! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend! We’re just trying to stay warm her in GA – and I finally bought a new coat tonight! I hope you have a great weekend!

Oh, so glad you got your new coat! What does it look like?

And yes, if your daughter loves manga she’ll get a kick out of this line. They have a lot of cute things!

It’s an Anne Klein peacoat, but on the longer side and it’s chocolate colored. I’ve had cranberry or black coats in the past, so I need to buy new hat, gloves, and a scarf to match it! It was on huge sale (orig. $220, but I paid $88). I need to find a ski jacket too so I can play outside and my new coat stays pretty. Did you ever go coat shopping? If so, did you find anything!

Oh, I wanted to add that I checked out the Lorac Front of the Line eyeliner this afternoon at Sephora – hello, it was awesome! I am going back tomorrow to pick it up. And my hubby got home before I did today and found the MAC package waiting on me. Luckily, he was OK with it since I returned some other MAC stuff yesterday!

Huzzah! I am glad you like the liner. It’ll be the easiest cat eye you’ve ever done (hopefully!). 🙂

I went to Sephora today, too!

You got a great deal. I love it when stuff is deeply discounted AND cute. Chocolate-colored coats go with everything too, so yay!

I still haven’t gotten one…. I found a long black button-up coat I got a few years back from Benetton and have just been rocking that. 🙂

these polishes are so cute! too bad shipping is a downfall..
lately i’ve been sort of obsessing over my nails. 😛
i really love the sinful colors nail polishes that i got at walgreens for only like, 2 bucks a pop! i totally underestimated them at first, but after trying their color “cha cha red” out, i really got into taking good care of my nails (:
i stopped biting them!! and that’s like a huuuge accomplishment for me ^-^

Cosmic is so 90s it is ridiculous. Not only did i have a nail polish exactly like it (black with that little bit of orange in the glitter) I had a patent leather bubble jacket the same look.

I think they’re super cute but very dupable, especially since they’re harder to find and cost a pretty penny for international shipping.

i’m going through a nail polish obsession phase right now .
    i’m not sure why ..
but this is not helping ! lol
i went to sally’s beauty supply to check out china glaze . for an annual fee of $5 you get a discount with every purchase there with Sally’s card . instead of spending five/six dollars on the nail polish, i spent less than three … i bought me some polish to say the least ! made my week 😀
i’ve checked eyeko out soo many times and filling a cart only to abandon it :[
there is a limit to how much i’ll spend on shipping :'[
ooh if there is more to see you should totally share <3 😛

I still don’t know what do these polishes have to do with manga, but I like the green and cosmic ones. I would probably go for China Glaze or OPI since they are actually not that expensive with some discount.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick.
