China Glaze Retro Diva Nail Polishes for Fall 2009

June 19th, 2009 by Karen 42 Comments

china glaze retro diva all

I’m sitting here on the living room floor watching The Deep End on IFC and trying to decide on a polish to wear for my Friday night manicure. I’d like it to be something from China Glaze’s new Retro Diva collection.

Out next month, the collection features 12 groovy polishes (about $5/bottle) in shades of purple, burgundy, orange, red and taupe. China Glaze says the colors were inspired by platform shoes, hiphuggers and the rockin’ disco 1970s.

For a look at the 2010 fall collection…
  • China Glaze Vintage Vixen
  • When I think ’70s colors, I think pea green drapes and mustard yellow shag carpeting, but whatev. 🙂

        Hi Roxanne,

I think Thunderbird might be one of my faves, too. I think China Glaze really did a great job with this release… so many pretty reds and purples to choose from.

I know, right? I don’t know if I’m quite ready yet for the season. I’d be happy for it to stay summer forever.

Wow! Thunderbird and Drive in look gorgeous too! Hmmmmmm, I think I’d have to go with Cruisin’ for fingers and Free Love or Drive in for toes. They’re such pretty brights. The darker fall colors are total love too though. I am definitely getting Short & Sassy and Stella. 😀

I completely get you on being obsessed with Greek mythology, mine was that big that I studied actually Ancient Greek for 4 years!!! Not the easiest language ever.:)

        Hi Sonja,

No worries. 🙂 It takes me to awhile to get going in the morning, too.

I devoured the Greek myths like they were food. There was family in my town where all of the kids were named after people in Greek mythology, and I remember being really envious, LOL!

What was the hardest thing about studying the Ancient Greek language?

      Street racin is cool, cool, cool! How are they with chipping though? I live in an area where the weather is so dry that it literally puts cracks in my polish after a couple days if I don’t triple coat it ;___;

        Hi Marmar,

I find with a good base coat China Glaze stands up *really* well in terms of chipping. And I totally abuse my nails, so that’s saying something.

      Hey Karen!

The hardest thing was definitely the grammar, the past tenses!!

Wow, how cool, to be named after a character from mythology! My Greek professor always used to say that my name is some Nordic version of ‘sofia’, ‘wisdom’ in Greek, so at least that!

I love ALL these colors! I think I like Thunderbird and Drive In the best. Most of these shades make me want to skip right over summer (except the bottom four) and dive into fall but I haven’t really gotten into the summer spirit yet since it’s been so gloomy all month. Then again, that probably means it’ll be hot into November and I won’t be wearing these colors until Christmas. Gotta love that global warming.

Ouch! I hope you are okay. A sprained ankle is never fun… did you sprain it at the ball? That must’ve been one hellavu dance!

Yeah at the ball. there was a hole in the floor at the side and I clumsily put all my weight there.
It’s not too bad but it did hurt a lot yesterday.
