A Rainbow of Wristlets and Clutches

January 3rd, 2010 by Karen 43 Comments

wristlet-round-up

So, now I have a new excuse to accessorize. 🙂 I’m looking for a cute way to tote around my two newly prescribed inhalers, which will be joining the tubes of lipgloss, cans of cat food and random acorns I usually have on me at any given time.

I spent this morning scouring the Net for a sassy wristlet/clutch and found these 12 colorful options, each one priced for either budget babes or lavish ladies. 🙂

And check it: you don’t need to have a medical condition to get down with one of these little bags. No, ma’am. They’d also make perfect companions for on-the-go makeup essentials like lipglosses, blotting papers and purse-sized perfumes!

Speaking of accessories

I did end up going to see Avatar last night at the movies and LOVED IT! What a visual feast. I can still see the vivid colors and textures in my mind’s eye.

As usual, when it came time to leave the house for the theater, I was running late, but my new favorite hat — a gray knitted beret from H&M — prevented a potentially disastrous hair sitch.

tabs-and-gray-beret-2

Yes, I kinda feel like Re-Run from What’s Happening with it on, but who cares? It’s warm and hides my wayward bangs. 🙂

So what’s going on today? Are you doing anything fun?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Those are some gorgeous wristlets. I like them since they are easy to carry and can store quite a bit.

I have heard great things about Avatar but I am not feeling it. Right now I am trying to get myself back to the real world. Have caught up on my sleep and today will be a day of running errands and two weeks worth of laundry. Did you enjoy your vacation?

MARISOL! I feel like it’s been forever. How was Mexico? Did you have fun?

Hawaii was nice. It was great to hang out with family and just chill for a bit. I am glad to be home though… I missed my bed and my cat, LOL!

It does feel like forever. Mexico was great. I always have fun with my family. Glad that you had fun with your family as well.

I missed my bed too. While I was gone, I slept in different places (I sound trashy..LOL) but when i came back, I realized how much I missed it.

I have been catching up to the posts I missed and I am sorry for your friend’s loss. It’s hard to lose someone but I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose a parent. Death certainly makes us realize how precious life is. But all you can do is learn from it and try to do the best you can. I lost my cousin 2 years ago and it hit me hard. He was only 33 and had so much ahead of him. But what i took from his death is that life is short and I needed to start doing things for me. He helped me make my move to SF and I think of him often when I think of how lucky I am to be here.

        Hang in there.

Thank you, hon. I am sorry for the loss of your cousin. You’re right — if there’s anything to learn from having such a sudden and painful loss, it’s that life is just borrowed time. We have to make the most of it. 🙂

Glad you got back to the Bay in one piece!

Girl I’m so glad you’re back! I was getting in a funk myself because I visit your blog every day from my BlackBerry! I first of all wanted to extend my condolences to your friend, her family, and to you. I know how tough losing someone is and I’m sorry that you’ve had to endure that. I’m also really sorry that you were sick, but I’m really happy that you bounced back and made a beauty adventure out of it! Please don’t ever leave us again because if there’s someone who always makes my day, its you!

I liked most of them, but my fave is definitely the orange one with white flowers. Too cute! I should get one of these. If I’m destined to lug a stupid backpack to school for the next three or four years, I should at least have a cute clutch inside it!

I love the mini yellow leather “steal”. And I’m ALL about bringing hats back-I lurve them…I wore a purple kangal one out yesterday since I needed to cover up yucky hair too, and I totally agree with the adding warmth (I mean, it’s really cold here! (colorado)). Plus, after watching Mad Men and Revolutionary Road, I really think hats need to make a fashion comeback!

i’m just catching up on the blog and I’m glad you feel better. I’m so sorry that you were having a rough period, but I’m glad you are back. Reading your blog always brightens my day.

That purple MJ wristlet is to die for. Nice selection Karen 🙂
Today was a bit meh for me. The evening was nice though, I crashed at my friend’s place and we watched How to marry a millionaire and Legally Blonde. I’d forgotten how much I loved the latter’s crazy cheerfulness 🙂

I don’t think I’ve seen How to Marry a Millionaire. It sounds fun. 🙂

Have you heard any of the music from the Legally Blonde musical? Some of it is pretty good.

Anyway, how are things we you? I feel like we haven’t talked in FOREVER!

It is fun, Marilyn is pretty funny in it.

I have and I love it. My favourite is the title song, just such a great melody with that key change in the middle. Laura Bell Bundy is just brilliant.

I know! It feels like ages even though I read your blog every day. Weird huh.
I’m okay. I’ve been incredibly busy during the holiday season and on Friday rehearsals for the musical start so I’ll be very busy for the coming year and a half.
I’m so sorry about your friend’s dad. I totally understand how it can affect you immensely. The only thing I can tell you is to take your time. *hugs*

I vote for the purple Cole-Haan one. Looks like it has enough capacity for the inhalers (whereas some of the flatter ones don’t), and I like the fabric—can work for day inside another bag or as a club wristlet too. And it doesn’t break the bank, which is also a plus.

My vote is definitely for a splurge item. You deserve it! I love the Morelle Pochette, and the green shade is gorgeous! The wrist-strap makes it extra usable.

Well… you can always store an inhaler in your cleavage! Then you can carry the slim clutch. 🙂 Seriously, it’s one of my secrets from college. The best inhaler storage in the world!

Doing fine here. Happy to kiss 2009 goodbye. NYE was quiet. We celebrated with NYC, and were asleep before midnight on the West Coast.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
