For Plumper Brows, Apply a Bit of Foundation and Setting Powder to Them First

February 5th, 2016 by Karen 16 Comments

hello-brows

If you aren’t #blessed with naturally big, bushy brows, first, I feel ya. Second, you need to know about this secret squirrel way to thicken and volumize (is that even a real word??) your eyebrows.

Apply a bit of foundation and setting powder to your brows first, while they’re still bare (just let it run over your brows), before you go in with your brow pencils and brow gels, brow powders, etc.

So I stumbled on this trick by accident. It was one of those “Once upon a time…” things. One day, while I was doing my makeup, I was applying my foundation and setting powder and accidentally got quite a bit up in my brows, but instead of removing it by brushing through my brows with a brow comb or using a Q-tip soaked in makeup remover, I left it be. (I think I was just feeling lazy.)

After that, I went about my normal brow routine but noticed that my brows looked particularly thick, plump and bangin’ later that day.

So, next time you’re going about your merry makeup way, try plopping a little bit of your foundation and setting powder on your brows (just the smallest, almost accidental amount), and then do your brows like you normally would afterward.

I think you’ll notice a difference. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood (naturally brow-less) beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF!

Neat! I suppose it works the same way as applying powder on your lashes before mascara. I’ll have to try this one too. 🙂

Yeaahhhh no, my brows are thick enough as they are. They literally sit ON my face like fat caterpillars, lol. Great tip though!

Hah! And here I was dutifully cleaning them with a cotton swab and combing them with a spoolie just to add the brow products later. Go figure!

Well, that is definitely one nifty trick 😉

What a smart tip! Part of mine are fine but the ends are skimpy. I’ll try it on half!

I tend to apply my face makeup, then brows, then powder all over (lightly on my brows, of course) and get such better staying power!

I never tried that, but it makes sense, the foundation/powder acts as a primer. Actually I was just thinking the other day that it’s strange no brand has yet launched a brow primer, considering brow products are all the rage these days!

I’ve never tried this. Generally my brows are rather full, but lately I’ve noticed the tail ends getting thinner. Will have to try this tomorrow when I do my brows. That’s if I do them… I feel something viral coming on.

I’ve been using powder on them just to plump them slightly!

What a beautiful pic of you, Karen! (Yes, even with the goofy expression.) You should wear more olive green. Fab!!

This seems like a really good idea actually. I have super thin eyebrows cause I like them that way so I don’t do anything to mine but if I did I would try this. And the next time I do my sisters makeup I’m going to try it on her for sure 🙂

Great tip! I can always use thicker brows. And, now that you mentioned it, it seems like I’ve had similar results when I accidentally get some tinted moisturizer on my brows. I’ll try adding the powder. 🙂

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
