Nonstick Lipgloss Greatest Hits

November 17th, 2009 by Karen 34 Comments

lipgloss-1

Happy Tuesday, ladies. 🙂 This morning, fellow beauty addict Toni finds herself in a sticky situation…

Hi Karen!

I’m on the hunt for a fabulous but very non-sticky lipgloss. I’ve enjoyed a Jesse’s Girl gloss I got at Rite Aid, but I’d love something with a little more color/pigmentation. I wonder what your readers call their favorite non-sticky lipglosses? Or can you make some suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Toni

Heya, Toni. Every girl needs a list of go-to non-sticky glosses. Here are some of my budget AND splurge-worthy faves. 🙂

  • Sally Hansen 12-Hour Lip Treatment ($6): Like a nonstick, vanilla-scented (but sans flavor) drugstore version of MAC Lipglass. Each tube packs may-jah color and shine, intense moisture, and lasts hours on my lips without budging one bit.
  • Sonia Kashuk Ultra Shine Sheer Lip Gloss ($9): BARGAIN ALERT! With a thin, non-stick formula that’s both taste- and fragrance-free, Sonia’s new $9 glosses feel surprisingly like $27 tubes of Chanel Aqualumiere Glossimer.
  • Philosophy Supergloss Lip Gloss SPF 15 ($17): If you dig uber-shiny, sun-protecting lipglosses that don’t feel sticky on your lips, think about giving the Supernatural Superglossies a try.
  • NARS Lipgloss in Supervixen ($24): Less sticky than MAC Lipglasses and Chanel Glossimers, NARS Supervixen feels light on my lips and doesn’t have a noticeable taste or smell.
  • Chanel Aqualumiere Lipgloss ($28): Boy, are these bad boys built to shine! All nine of the shades deliver loads of sheer, super shiny color. Chanel, ya done good!

Lipgloss lovahs, can you recommend any non-sticky formulations for Toni? Let’s get her out of this sticky situation.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Woot! I also needed recs for cheap lip non sticky glosses. I’m a big believer in indulging my out of control makeup habit but i’ve to say i want to look for any way to save up for my Nars blush addiction!

But gosh karen you make it so hard, those aqualumieres are to die for! Maybe i’ll indulge one day if my student “budget” allows…

I love those NARS glosses. They’re not cheap but they’re so worth it if you don’t mind the lanolin smell. All Night Long is a nice buildable berry.

I agree with the Chanel Aqualumieres, they are the best non-sticky glosses I have, I have diamond rose and freeze and I love both colours and want to purchase candy glow and bonbon too.

Thanks to an earlier rec here I picked up the Sonia Kashuk gloss in Vivacious — a *very* bright hot pink in the tube and I love it. I thought it would be strictly a night out gloss but it is much more wearable than I thought.

My other fav is Alba’s Terra Gloss. Non-sticky, lovely smooth texture, light vanilla scent in several gorgeous colors for about $5. I like that it is very moisturizing – full of shea butter, vitamin E.

One other lip gloss i like is maybelline shinylicious lip gloss. I’ve it in banana pudding. It’s not sticky and i love the colour only problem is the scent isn’t my thing!

Thanks for the suggestions Karen, you know how addictive I am to lipgloss and I hate those sticky ones. I just got the Sheer Lipgloss from Illamasqua in Explode from their Dystopia autumn/winter 2009 collection (review on my blog) and I’m very disappointed, I only love the color. After I got the Sephora Ultra shine gloss, but looks better paired up with my lip liner, than alone.

As a MAC girl myself, I like the Cremesheen formula since it is not at all sticky, but they only have limited colors available righ now, or the Lipgelees….lurve those!

I’m not a lip gloss girl on most days but I’ll know what to look for if I’m in need of it! I hate sticky lip glosses but my hair hates it most. Maybe I’ll try out the Sally Hansen 12-Hour Lip Treatment first.

I like MAC Lustreglass, Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lipglosses (these are cheap and they go on sale a lot) and Medusa’s Makeup Lipglosses (most of these decently pigmented). Chanel Rouge Allure Lacques are great because they are a cross between lipstick and lipgloss bringing both strong pigmentation and shine and it is not sticky; however Chanel is expensive.

I totally agree with your recs on the nars (my fave is chihuahua) and Chanel aqualumieres. And I’ll also put in my 2 cents for Fresh’s sugar glosses and Josie Maran.

I love, love, love Hourglass Extreme Sheen. It’s not cheap, but it’s the butteriest, yummiest lip gloss around. And for being not sticky at all, it’s got really great color pay off (plus, a whole slew of finishes: sheer, shimmery, metallic).

I talk about this gloss to anyone who’ll listen!

-Cover girl amazemint (minty chocolate scent)

My vote goes for Becca Lip Tints. They don’t last too long (trade-off) but are completely non-sticky and feel soooo good on.

Fresh’s Sugar lipglosses are amaaaazing. They feel so damn silky on your lips, and they are the least sticky gloss I’ve ever tried. Ever. and I’m a gloss junkie.

Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Gloss is what I recommend. It is *really* moisturizing, non-sticky, and only $8. But there are only about 5 shades. Check it out and see if you like any of them.

Karen and Blog Readers, thank you soooooo much for the suggestions! I love glosses and I can’t wait to try out some of these recommendations! I will be making my list and heading out to Ulta, WalMart/Target, and Nordstrom sometime this week to try these out.

Thanks again for all of your help, ladies!

Tarte glosses are slippery and, depending on the color, highly pigmented. I really enjoy using them. For something a little less spendy, Yes To Carrots C Me Shine glosses have subtle neutral colors, with and without shimmer, and a sweet mint scent that tingles.

And thanks to Steph B (comment #5)– I’m just discovering Alba products and am going to hunt down that gloss! Abla’s sea salt body scrub is amazingly wonderful!

Karen, you’re the best! I love these posts where you open things up and everybody tosses out so many ideas!

Mmm I just went to Bath & Body Works & bought the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tints… AMAZING. I love the cool sensation from the peppermint oil & it tastes so great! I wiped my lips with a tissue to see if it would slide right off.. Nope, there’s gloss left! It was windy & raining when I wore it but my hair didn’t stick to the gloss like glue. I am in loveeee 😀

Alright.. I really liked this lipgloss but it was too sticky right? I found out the most amazing and simple way to cure sticky lipgloss. What i do, pretty much daily now, is layer. I first apply my eos lip balm (Which is great for chapped lips by the way) then put on my Wet n’ Wild Megaslicks lipgloss in the shade 564A. Its shiny and a great pink that doesn’t look like too much. You can get both at drugstores like Cvs or Walgreens or something along those lines, hope i helped 🙂
