15-Minute New Year’s Eve/Party Makeup Look

December 30th, 2015 by Karen 20 Comments

Yeah, man! I really did do this look from start to finish in 15 minutes! — and with Baby Girl playing soccer (otherwise known as “football”) in my tum the entire time.

Picture it: it’s New Year’s Eve (um…that’s tomorrow), and you’re already in your flannel pajamas — the ones covered in rainbow cats, because, obviously, wearing a pair of PJs with rainbow cats on them is the right thing to do on New Year’s Eve.

You get a last-minute invite from a friend to grab some pizza and watch fireworks, and so you want to get a little funk-aaaay with your makeup for the night, but you don’t have the patience to sit through two hours of cut creasing and false lashing.

So what do you do?

You bust out the glitter and hot pink lipstick! That’s what you do!

If you can rustle up the glitter and lipstick, you can probably do this look with the products in yo’ makeup bag RIGHT MEOW, and you can be done in 15 minutes, which means that your belly can get that pizza in it sooner…which means that the world will be a happier place. 🙂

Products mentioned

  • BECCA Backlight Priming Filter
  • MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream SPF 30 in Medium Plus
  • Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Neutral Medium
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Tan
  • Urban Decay Brow Beater in Neutral Brown

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy new year! 🙂

I am wearing something similar today, glitter with a red lip and will pair that with my elastic maternity pants tonight when eating cheese fondue at home with Mr. Loca. Best way to spend a NYE as a pregnant women, I think.
Did take me longer than 15 minutes though, because Little Bean insisted in climbing all over me while I applied it…

    Happy New Year!

Love the look!! Ohhh, you got me ADDICTED to Becca back light primer. I’m a totally matte skin girl, but when I tried this during my visit to the states, I LOVED IT!! Grabbed 2 bottles, and sephora samples for travel!

      Hi Lauren,

Awesome! I’m so glad you love it. Have you tried mixing it in with your foundation or tinted moisturizer yet? I do that sometimes too.

What are you doing for New Year’s Eve?

Happy New Year, Karen!! I read your original review post that you mix them together, but lately I’ve been lazy/rushed and wanting a matte look, so I’ve been using MAC studio fix powder foundation. BUT, today I mixed the two and I’m in looooove!

How was your NYE? We went to see star wars and I walked out w/in the 1st 10 minutes because the volume broke to the loudest level! At the end of the show, my hubs was the only person left! 🙂

I’m going to a NYE party tonight & I still haven’t chosen my outfit yet. Which also means I have no idea what makeup I’m wearing. I’ve gone 5 days (YIKES, FIVE WHOLE DAYS!!) without a lick of makeup. Looking forward to getting pretty tonight. Happy New Year, friend!!! 🙂

Have fun at the party! Have you decided on your outfit yet? Or your makeup? Please tell me there’s glitter involved! (And maybe false lashes, too.)

Karen, I have read your blog for years now and have always loved it. This was the first time I watched a video and wow, you are just too cute. I really loved how I could see the personality I always thought you had from your writing come to life!

I like the look that you did and think it’s cool that you did it so quickly. The pink glitter liner is really pretty.

Oh and that Chanel liner is pronounced “foie” or “foy”. The “ll”s are silent and it means leaves. I’m a Canadian transplant to Chicago. 🙂

Bonjour, Lori! Thank you for popping in to say hello. And for the help with the pronunciation! It’s very nice to meet you and I hope that you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve. Will you be wearing glitter? I hope so!

I’m lovin’ the lip. It’s like a more matte slightly toned down NARS Yu!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
