What Are Your MAC Staples?

December 4th, 2009 by Karen 65 Comments

mac-staples

Fellow MAC fans, imagine a world without your favorite MAC products, the ones you hope they never discontinue.

I would…
FREAK THE EFF OUT!

Here are my MAC staples:

  • MAC Eyeshadow in Concrete and the 266 Small Angled Brush: The dynamic duo I use to fill my eyebrows. Without ’em my facial expression looks stuck somewhere between surprise and adoration.
  • Eyeshadow in Soft Brown: I’m in crazy love with this matte brown. It’s my go-to crease color, matter of fact. Incidentally, I hear it gets a lot of use on the set of Mad Men.
  • Lipglass in Nymphette: I can’t even begin to guess the number of tubes I’ve finished. I’ve been a fan of this shimmery golden pink gloss *forever*.

If you’re a fellow MAC fiend fan, what are your staples from the brand? I’m always looking for new gems to try. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF, gals! How does your day look?

    Hey Karen

My Friday has been stressful, I’ve got some sort of nasty rash all over me and I can’t work out what it is online (it doesn’t itch but according to the interwebs every rash itches!) and I can’t see a doc til Monday. 🙁

My MAC collection is teeny buy one of my goals for 2009 is to grow it! I couldn’t live without Select SPF 15 foundation which is what I’ve used for the last couple of years.

Also, if they discontinued Syrup lipstick I’d be pretty damn peeved, it’s my staple for wearing with smokey eyes – the perfect shade of pink!

Hope you’re having a good one today.

I had a non-itchy rash as an allergic reaction to an antibiotic. It went away after the meds ran their course. If you’re not taking any new medication, it’s possible it’s dry skin.
Good luck and hopefully you can figure out what it actually is!

My Friday is busy. My brother-in-law is coming into town tonight and my house is a mess! So, I am busy trying to clean up. I also need to go and exchange some MAC stuff at Macy’s and Nordstrom.

My MAC stash is just eye shadows and a Hello Kitty Beauty Powder. I hope they don’t discontinue the following eye shadows: Shroom, Mylar, Patina, and Shale. Love those colors! If they did, I would probably head to NYX, because some of them look very similar to MAC shadows.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I think my lips would shrivel up and fall off my face without my MAC lip conditioner (the emollient ones in the tub with SPF 15). I’ve been using that for nearly 4 years now, day and night and the few times I forgot or didn’t, I was very very uncomfortable.

I also need their concealer (I used select cover up for years before studio sculpt came out. I’m hitting the bottom of the first jar and haven’t really decided if I’m going back to select cover up or staying on with studio sculpt.)

It is starting to finally feel like winter here. I am not happy about that.

    My MAC all stars are
212 brush – best cream liner brush ever
Capricious lustre lipstick – the perfect just darker then my lips shade that I can wear to work, running around, or glam up for evening.

soba e/s – my go to crease color for neutral and most eye looks
technakohl liners – eye and lip
    MSF – med. dark
arena e/s – my favorite ‘not there – there’ shadow!
    fluidline – black
    black plushlash and zoom lash

    brushes:
    the aforementioned #266
    219

New favorite is Copperplate eyeshadow. It’s just the perfect buttery matte shade of plummy chocolatey brown taupe. If that makes sense. And Bisque is grrreeeeat for smoothing lines away, especially with the 227 brush.

If MAC stopped making Studio Gold Loose powder (PRO) I would have a nervous breakdown. My staples are: Brow pencil in Spiked, Carbon eyeshadow, and Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC40. What’s rough is that most of my favorite products are limited edition and I’ll never find them again once I finish them!

Karen, do you use your Lipglass until the last drop? I heat up a mug of water for a couple minutes in the microwave, then put my seemingly empty lipglosses in the cup for 10 minutes. It melts all the gloss stuck to the sides of the tube and it collects at the bottom. Voila, you’ve postponed buying a new one 🙂

Anywho, here are my MAC staples:
    – 217 brush: my first and favourite blending brush. It’s a life-changer…really! I never really did any eyeshadow looks before I got the 217.
    – 109 brush: for applying foundation/contour. Such an awesome multitasking brush!
    – 266 brush: makes filling in my brows so easy. (Can ya tell I’m obsessed with my brushes?)
    – Shroom e/s: I use this one in almost every look I do.
    – Nymphette l/g and Jubilee l/s

A world without a single Paint Pot (much love for Painterly!) is a world that I don’t want to live in. 😉

For my money, MAC also makes *the* best red lipsticks; I’m still in love with “O” and Underworld, and Dare You (Cremesheen) is still in my arsenal. I also don’t know how I can live without the Colour Forms 5 Warm Eyes palette (from Nordies, Summer/Fall 2008) because every single color in there is basic but gorgeous.

Finally: Brushes #224 and #266. Best eye-makeup brushes EVER.

A side note: I also have MAC to thank for a non-MAC product – if it wasn’t for the Fluidline, I would never have discovered L’Oreal HIP’s cream liner, which wears just as well as the original. Love, love, love!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
