  • UPDATE: Mar. 14, 2010. The giveaway is now closed, and the winner is being contacted. Good luck! 🙂

Sometimes you gotta cherish the little things, ya know? Like the fact that we made it to Wednesday. 🙂 A small feat, yes, but the first part of the week was kinda rough for me (haven’t been getting enough sleep).

I’m glad it isn’t Monday and feel like celebrating! Pour another cup of coffee (whee!), and let’s toast to Wednesday with a MAC giveaway starring one of my favorites from MAC’s Spring Colour Forecast collection.

Congrats to Jackie for winning last week’s MAC Blush Ombre in Ripe Peach!

The prize

One lucky lady will win MAC Blush Ombre in Azalea Blossom (a $25 value), a light pink powder blush with a finish that’s about half way between a shimmer and a matte.

How to enter…

2ways2enterEntering is easy. There are two different ways, and you can do both of them for two chances to win.

First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post. In it, tell me the name of your favorite flower.

Urmf! I can’t decide on just one. How about lilies, azaleas, irises and roses?

Follow me
Second, enter by following me on Twitter and retweeting (RT) the following message:

    Ooo, fun!

I love tulips…ever since seeing them on a road trip up to Vancouver from SoCal at Mount Vernon, Washington (google “tulips” and “Skagit Valley”) when I was younger. There are fiiiiiiields of tulips, and it looks like there’s a giant paint swatch of reds, yellows, and pinks..and as you get closer, you realize that they’re giant fields of tulips (and daffodils). It’s a gorgeous spring time scene. If one ever takes a road trip up north, and it’s spring time, one must go through here! =)

But I can’t limit myself! I also love orchids, and were able to find lovely green cymbidium orchids for my wedding….and gerbera daisies, who are always so bright and fills any room with good cheer.

I can’t ever keep flowers alive though. =( I can plant veggies in little pots, but flowers always die on me. Sigh.

I love waterlilies, because you have to make an effort to go to see them, smell them. They won’t survive in your vase, but only in their natural environment.

My Mother used to grow many varieties when I was a kid, I always loved the different varieties she would plant. We would go through the catalog and pick out what colors and varieties of tulips to order to plant in the Spring. Thank you.

I don’t have a favorite flower anymore! It used to be calla lilies, but I don’t know if I can count them anymore because they were the flowers in my wedding bouquet (and on the invitations, the napkins, the program, etc.), and I’m divorced now. And my ex recently got remarried, and his new bride went with a calla lily bouquet as well. TOO WEIRD.

So now I feel like a I need a new fave. For now, I’ll say my favorite is a wildflower, the castilleja (the Indian paintbrush).

When I was younger, I used to buy carnations with my own money at the grocery store because I thought they were so pretty. I thought the colors were amazing. It wasn’t until years later that someone told me that the flowers are actually dyed. I thought it was all due to Mother Nature! Now my boyfriend always buys me roses, but I’m reminded of how it felt to be young everytime I see a carnation.

I am responding the MAC blush – I would love to say a “Hot Pink Cattalyea Orchid in full bloom”! Or, the bouganveilla that blooms in California – usually a hot pink/coral color – the fragrance is enticing and exotic as well – my cousin grows them in Palm Desert, California and aroma is intoxicating! Great giveaway doll! Do not own any purple/pink blushes so this would be lovely to try! I absolutely hands down LOVE Calla Lillys! My entire room was based around them when I lived at home, lamp, ceiling light, pictures, wall light, decor and all! They are so beautiful and elegant. GOOD LUCK to everyone and best wishes! Thanks for the fab. opportunity!♥Keep that pretty head to the SKY!

It sounds weird, but my favorite flower is the bleeding heart! They grow in my parent’s backyard (someone planted them at some point) and I LOVED them as a kid.

But the flower I’d want to receive? Tulips? Carnations? I’m pretty boring that way…

My favorite flower since early childhood has been a peony. I have a great picture of my grandma holding one of her homegrown peonies from her garden next to my head as a 9 month old baby. I’ve wanted peonies for my wedding bouquet all my life!

Oooh! Definitely the sampaguita, the national flower of the Philippines (yep, proudly a Filipino!). Aside from that, I also love it’s sweet (yet non-overpowering) fragrance and white color. Actually, the flower’s meaning is “innocence”! 🙂

P.S. Karen, are you a Filipino? Just asking. 🙂

Ranunculus – b/c it’s petals are packed closer and are short and wider then your garden variety roses. They really gave my wedding bouquet a little something special. My second fav is freesia b/c it’s smells so good!

I live in the northeast so imagine my surprise the first time I went to California to see the exotic and truly magical birds of paradise growing along some of the tree lining the streets. Ever since then I have been obsessed with them! I think they are truly a breathtaking flower and gift from God, The colors are stunning and the shape like nothing else! I also am in love with a variety of orchids. The more exotic and rare, the more I love! I also sent out a tweet about this wonderful giveaway, my twitter name is joannaonthelake

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
