Fitness! FITNESS!

And nutrition, bluh. Since New Year’s I’ve been trying to watch what I eat and thinking about getting back into shape for 2010.

When it comes to working out, I actually enjoy punishing myself with sweaty workouts (sick, I know!), but the whole healthy nutrition thing has proven to be quite a challenge for me.

At 10:38 a.m. today my tummy was ready for lunch. I know this because it started to growl. Nevermind that I’d only eaten breakfast an hour before, boo!

When it comes to my diet — much like how it is for me with makeup — it seems like everywhere I turn, temptation awaits!

Temptations like this lovely pan o’ MAC Suave Intentions Eyeshadow from the Love Lace collection. It brings to mind visions of yummy Skittles and forbidden (nom nom!) sweets.

I guess it’s good that I didn’t gobble it up, though, LOL! If I had, not only would I have a tummy troubles right now, but we wouldn’t be having a giveaway today. 🙂

The prize

One lucky lady will win a pan of MAC Suave Intentions Eyeshadow (a $15 value), a frosty, silvery blue from MAC’s recent Love Lace collection.

I adore blue eyeshadows, only if you wear them properly. We used to have “White Trash Wednesdays” when I was in college and all the girls would flock on the bright blue eyeshadow, because it’s mostly seen as trashy and trampy. I think it can be beautiful and elegant at the same time.

I think my favorite is Freshwater.. or Aquadisiac, even though it’s more of a aqua bluish. Love your blog!

I used to wear blue eyeshadow when I was younger and my older cousin would make me up, it was in the height of the fad in the 80’s though. I think now blue eyeshadow is making its way back into society but in a way that is sassy and sophisticated, and a little edgy. It’s fun and no longer something women are scared to try.

One summer I wore Mac’s Freshwater everyday. I grew out of it the instant a bus driver wryly observed that it matched my summer coat exactly.

My current favorite is the blue in Cargo’s Tahiti quad, which I wear toned down on it’s own or blended out with a muted neutral.

I’m also in love with Metallic Indigo by Lancôme (Karen get this one, MAC has no dupe for it, or any other brand, it’s a fabulous blue indigo with shimmer !! It’s way better in single e/s than in the quad, which had poor pigmentation) or Adore by UD

    Totally in love !!

Blues have always scared me, but this is such a pretty and soft shade of blue that it seems like a good starter blue.

I have hazel eyes and I tend to stick to neutral browns. I am trying to experiment more with make up this year. Its just sad how much I spend on make up a year and end up not using it! I have the stylish mauve Dior quint that I bought last year and I have never used it! Colors scare me for some reason, but I want to change that!

Blue eyeshadow is like putting on fake lashes for me: unless I do it JUST RIGHT, it can go wrong very fast. I have blue eyes, so using a really bright blue liquid liner makes my eyes pop in a BIG way.
I recently found that there’s a whole row of surprisingly wearable blues in the Sephora color play pallatte III- especially w/ a hint of my new favorite, Too Faced’s Label Whore. Have you used that one before? It’s so dreamy and like emerald with chocolate and gold… yum.

Blue eyeshadow, or any color eyeshadow for the matter, looks great on all skin tones. You just have to know what shades compliment your skin tone!

Bright and beautiful and soSO fun. I’ve done a gold and blue look with Peace on the bottom lashes, and that turned out quite nicely. A friend told me it looked like a sunset over ocean waters. Haha~

It’s surprising- but one of my friends managed to grap her hands on the same blue shade by love lace (They were out of stock for a while). It was gorgeous, but my skimpy budget couldn’t offerd it (It’s expensive in OZ). I would absolutly love to win it, it’s my make-up addiction of the moment. I have other blue shades which i rock out every once in a while, but mac’s love lace eyeshadow is AMAZING!.

Weirdly enough I didn’t like “the blue” when I was younger. Now that I’m of a “certain age ” I think a small pop of blue on the eye is kinda gorgeous. It needs to be well blended, the right color blue for your coloring and needs to be balanced by your other makeup.

But all that said, that’s just my opinion, your mileage may vary. :0)

love, love, love blues. it’s too bad that a lot of the deep, sapphire-toned shades (which are some of my faves!!) end up looking muddy and gross and completely unlike how they look in the pan. oh wells.

i have recently fallen in love with blue eye shadows, especially darker/inky hues. they make a great smoky eye that isn’t too intense. haven’t tried any from mac (do you have any recommendations karen?) but there is a light/dark combo in clinique’s polar blue quad that i adore!

I love wearing blue eyeshadows, but I’m not sure they always go well with my light skin. My favorite way to wear it is a darker blue all over the lid and I dust a blue irridescent shadow over the dark so you get that duo chrome look. It’s hot!

I am a lifelong lover of green and purple shadows in any shade. I only have exactly two in blue. A bright, almost teal shadow, and a shimmery mid-tone shadow. I almost never wear them, but I feel that there MUST be a blue out there that can work on my green eyes. If I can regularly rock out orange, yellow, red, fuschia, etc, why can I not find a decent blue? I’m hoping this might be the solution.

I absolutely adore blue eyeshadows! My first ever eyeshadow(s ) was a blue palette from Shiseido (I still have them, dark jewel blue, frostly sky blue, silver and silver-blue cream base). It belonged to my mother but she gave it to me. About six months ago to a year ago, I was obsessed with finding the perfect vibrant jewel blue, so I got my hands on Blue Storm, Climate Blue, Blue Flame (from Cool Heat), Submarine, Electric Eel and Freshwater. None of them are quite what I’m looking for, but Freshwater is the closest and therefore the one I use the most. I think blue eyeshadow is my bane of existence, I love them but I’m never satisfied!

I think that with blue, it really depends on the shade. I like matte (or very subtly shimmered) dark blues/teals/navy’s, etc. I think that applied in moderation they can look very nice. My all time favorite blue is from YSL, the duo in 19, as the blue is slightly teal-ish. I haven’t really been a fan of really light blues (like baby blue) as they tend to look, and sorry in advance for the harsh words, cheap and unsophisticated. The reason I’m liking this one from Love Lace is because it’s muted and has a bit of gray in there. Anyhow, thanks for the opprotunity!

I love blue shadows! I love blue-blacks, or steely blue greys also. I once rocked a really pretty blue/grey smokey eye…and yes I wore it to Walmart! My sis said “thats a lil dramatic for Walmart, dont you think?” I said never! I rocked those aisles in style, baby! 😉 Feel free to email me for pics. I love makeup, but don’t have a blog! *gasp* 😉

I have extremely light skin, since I live in Scandinavia and my family’s Siberian (They even told me in NARS that their lightest color foundation, “Siberia,” might be too dark for me!), so I feel pretty timid when it comes to blue eyeshadows. I also thought blue would make me look even paler but recently I did see some really beautiful looks on Temptalia that made me wanna give blue a chance.

I wasn’t into blue e/s before because I have light green eyes, but lately, like a year or so, I’ve find some pretty nice shades of blue among mineral and MAC pigments which I really love to wear. Plus, my boyfriend bought me Strike A Pose e/s which is really lovely! Never thought I would ever wear blue e/s, but, people change. So they say. 😀

I love blue eyeshadows, especially since they give a boost to my brown eyes. I’ve tried blues blended in to different shadees for work and it looks really professional and still trendy and youthful. I tested suave intentions and loved it but I decided not to buy it because I’m tryting to frugal so I really hope I win.

My mother is a gorgeous brunette with olive toned skin. She has always worn a neutral make up palette as it showcases her natural beauty. One of my favorite stories is about when she was dating my father. They were talking about the relationship getting more serious and one of his comments was that he would like her to wear more blue eyeshadow. Now mind you, the blues of circa 1971 were not the same blues that we are so accustomed to having access to now. You know the blue he wanted her to wear! That powdery leisure suit blue! EWWWWW!
Me personally, I consider myself lucky to have all the greens to blend my blues with.

I like to have fun with my makeup from time to time, so I have a great shimmery blue pigment eyeshadow by Make Up For Ever that I wear to work to spice up some of the blah black and beige that I wear. Sometimes it’s fun to have the POP in my look come from my face instead of my clothes – plus it looks good next to my green eyes. 😉

I’ve tried blue eyeshadow ONCE. It was this past summer, the night before my sister in laws huge birthday bash on a boat that circles NYC for a few hours. I bought an awesome strapless navy blue-ish mini dress, and wanted to match my eyeshadow with the dress. My sister and I were testing makeup on each other the night before, to perfect our looks 🙂 she gave me this Avon eye shadow stickers, where the eyeshadow is already placed on a sticker as a smokey eye… awesome idea, but it looked so weird on me!! Not sure if it was the color or the application… but i would LOVE to try some MAC blue! 🙂

I actually wore blue eyeshadow on my wedding day! I wore what i think is called Blue Suede by LM, right in the center of my eye. it’s a very pale blue. the MA said it would help bring out my blue eye color. I paired this with a medium matte brown shade and Rose, a sparkly mauve/pink. if you use blue eyeshadow in the right way, it can look great!!!

I only like blue eyeshadows with gold iridescence because I’m so yellow/peach in skintone. I can’t rock cool blues or gray blues at all.

I have never really been a fan of blue eyeshadows, but a few of MAC’s colors have started to sway my opinion. I think I wore a blue eyeshadow back when I was about 14-15ish years old…

I think that blue is a great e/s color. Especially for a smokey eye, I like touse the darker shades of blue as a liner.

I love blue eyeshadows, but i have to be careful with the tones i can pull off, and in what amount. For exc. navys really bring out the green in my eyes, but too much cool toned lighter blue hues will just clash with my rather warm complexion. 🙁

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
