MAC Unsung Heroes: MAC Iridescent Powder/Loose in Silver Dusk

June 10th, 2012 by Karen 8 Comments

Remember MAC Golden Bronze, that savant of shimmer, and maestro of multitasking, that helps you get your shimmer on in multiple ways?

Well, Golden Bronze has a cool cousin, MAC Iridescent Powder/Loose in Silver Dusk ($23), a shimmery, silvery pinkish beige that likes to party with cool skin tones.

Like Golden Bronze, you can use it as a highlighter, and for that I usually apply it with the MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush on my upper cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, on my cupid’s bow and in the center of my chin; or, mix it with your favorite foundation, moisturizer or body oil for a glint of extra glow.

With my warmer skin tone (NC42), I reach for Golden Bronze more often, but I still have mad love for Silver Dusk, especially when I wear smokey eyes with black, gray or dark brown eyeshadows.

Whenever I do, after I’m done with my blending, I dust a small amount of Silver Dusk all over my lids with the MAC 224, making them twinkle, twinkle, like little stars. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

This is my favorite, most cherished MAC product. This was part of the first makeup I ever had. I received this, and Underage lipglass from my mom for Christmas when I was 12, and I still have that giant container of Iridescent powder over ten years later. I use it as a “wake up” eyeshadow on my lazy days, i’ll mix it with foundation for a glowy look, use it as a highlighter, mix it with lipglosses, anything really. Thanks so much for featuring it, Karen!

ooh, this one is pretty! But I do see what you mean–this particular one would be much more flattering on cooler skin tones. I think I’ll stick with the Golden Bronze one 😉

Is this the powder that has cooling properties when you first apply it? I think I remember it from the Venomous Villains release from Fall 2010.

This powder is also great to set under eye concealer — used very sparingly, of course!

This looks lovely but I think Golden bronze will definitely suit me much more!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
