Vibrant Mineralize Skinfinishes, Blushes, Eye Shadows and Lipsticks Simmer, Shimmer and Shine in the New MAC Tropical Taboo Collection

June 25th, 2013 by Karen 25 Comments

MAC Tropical Taboo Collection
The MAC Tropical Taboo Collection bursts through the jungle canopy onto MAC counters June 27! — but you can already snag it online.

Dear MAC Tropical Taboo,

Let’s dance!

Mambo? Samba? Cha-Cha-Cha? I can hang, even in three-inch heels, as long as I have a strong partner, and I get the feeling that partner is you. 🙂

Twirl me, dip me, toss me in the air! Just don’t ask me to do the Lambada (“The Forbidden Dance”). It would be — I dunno — too taboo, and this show is PG-13.

The only thing I ask before we set fire to the dance floor is that you indulge me with shimmer, sparkle and shine from your chorus of new Mineralize Skinfinishes, Blushes, Eye Shadows and Lipsticks…because I want my eyes, lips and cheeks to sizzle as we samba!

Of course, we mustn’t forget to twirl the Cremesheen Glasses, Lip Pencils, and Kohl Power Eye Pencils that come with this launch (there’s also a mascara and three brushes). They deserve their time in the spotlight, too.

Why no, I don’t mind sharing you at all. If you’d like to ask my friends to dance, feel free to show off your sauciest, most seductive moves…

Shhh! What follows are pictures and swatches of 28 of the 33 forbidden (not really) pieces in the MAC Tropical Taboo collection…

The MAC Tropical Taboo collection drifts ashore, evading the treacherous reef and hungry sharks that encircle our tiny island, and into MAC stores and counters Thursday, June 27, but if the rhythm has already hit you, and you can’t resist popping your hip on the dance floor and exclaiming, “Aye-yai-yai!” just direct your best moves at maccosmetics.com, because the collection’s available now online. 🙂

I’ll be testing (and dancing) with these pieces over the next few days. I’ll let you know if I discover any gems.

Those Mineralize Skinfinishes sure look like excellent dancers, don’t they?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’m liking Fever Isle a lot! Pretty summer gloss.

I think the blushes are perhaps too shimmery for my liking.

What was I saying yesterday? That summer is the perfect time to trot out the shimmer? MAC seems to share that sentiment! 🙂

For sure. 🙂 Have you tried the Mineralize Skinfinish highlighters yet? They have a cult following. I have friends who obsessively collect them!

No, I know this is awful to say but, aside from Ev Rev, I don’t have a single MAC item in my collection. I tried some of their blushes/liners/mascara many years ago and didn’t love them so I’ve just never gotten around to trying anything else. I know it’s the brand of choice for die-hard makeup fans, though. I might be inspired after you use the Skinfinish highlighters in your upcoming FOTDs. 🙂

Oh wow, did Lady at Play melt? I should pick it up finally. I’ve been eyeing it since it came out 🙂 Everything else is unfortunately a bit too shimmery for me.

First of all, your writing style is so great! I admire you for your creativity! Secondly, this collection is beautiful! Your swatches make me want everything! For some reason I am really tempted to get Lady at Play lipstick although it’s not a color I’d ever go for…And I love the Simmer blush and all MSFs, lol. I cannot wait for your detailed reviews!

Nothing from this collection really *calls* to me. Lust and Rio are pretty though. The only one I might really want is Orpheus because it’s so subtle but different! I just wish it weren’t in the Khol formula–my oily lids need super waterproof powers!!! 😛 haha

I just got Rio and Adored MSFs and they’re sooo pretty. I also bought time to tango eyeshadow and was thinking about returning it, but after seeing your swatches, I think i’ll keep it, I love the sparkles. 🙂 Thanks for doing all these swatches!!

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
