These MAC Soft Serve Shadows Are Sooo My Cup of…Ice Cream!

Wearing the MAC Soft Serve Shadows in Big Bad Blue and Put Me To Shame ($22 each, available online starting May 26, 2016; in stores June 2 through July 14)

Seriously, sparkly cream eyeshadows are my go-to shadows most mornings (if I’m wearing eyeshadow at all), and I LOVE this cushiony cream-to-powder formula. I am 100% completely onboard with these creamy new MAC Soft Serve Shadows. There are 11 of them in the new Soft Serve collection with lots of pretty shimmer!

I think you’ll love these if you also like the Dior Fusion Mono or Chanel Illusion D’Ombre cream eyeshadows because the formulas are very similar. I like applying them with my fingers because they’re easy to build up and blend, but once they set, they stay put.

Basically, these are my dream eyeshadows.

Aren’t these colors delicious?

The 11 shades

  • Bounce Around (Light, cool taupey silver)
  • Cushy Life (Light warm golden beige)
  • Best Make Up (Light golden highlighter)
  • Plead Gilty (Vibrant sparkling gold)
  • Quite Yummy! (Light pink)
  • So So Saucy (Mid-tone peach)
  • Put Me to Shame (Mid-tone dirty taupe)
  • Softened Up (Mid-tone warm brown)
  • Girls, Girls! (Soft pastel purple)
  • Big Bad Blue (Soft pastel blue)
  • Jealous Girl (Mint green)

I’ve been into keeping my favorite makeup on display lately. Anyone else into that?

I think these are perfect if you like a nice wash of color and lots of shimmer and sparkle. I don’t get any fallout, and they’re also very long lasting, so they’re right up my alley. I’m sure I’ll be using them a lot as the weather keeps getting better and better and I venture further away from my normal neutrals.

I also LOVE Big Bad Blue and Jealous Girl. They’re so perfect for dipping your toe into brighter colors without going all into the deep end, you know? Quite Yummy and So So Saucy are my favorites of the more natural shades because, well, I love pinks and peaches.

These swatches are with just a single pass of shadow, by the way, but you can also build them up for more opacity.

It’s also nice that the covers match the eyeshadow shades. That’s just a small detail, but it makes it easy to find the color you’re looking for when you’re in a hurry.

Here I used Big Bad Blue on my lids and blended it out with Put Me To Shame.

The other stuff I’m wearing today: Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow Foundation in 8 // MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Dark // Jouer Peach Bouquet blush // Anastasia Beverly Hills So Hollywood Illuminator // Bite Beauty Gingersnap lipstick // Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark Brown // Dior Brow Styler Gel in Brown // Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara // MAC Soft Serve Shadows in Big Bad Blue and Put Me To Shame.

Do you think you’ll scoop (haha) up one of these Soft Serve Shadows when they come out? Which one?

So saucy for me please! You know what, I think I have eye makeup phases. There was a time when I wore nothing but colors and stayed away from neutrals. Then I have got into neutrals ( not that I am over yet) and that too elaborate eye makeup. Recently, I got laid back and want just a wash of colors and mascara and these looks so soft and beautiful!
I have always stayed away from soft blues presuming it wouldn’t look good on my skin color. But, seeing you acing it, I am having thoughts.

Girl, these are perfect for the wash of color look. I typically don’t reach for blue, but this formula is very forgiving because of the shimmer and the fact that you can apply just a sheer wash. Def check these out, you’ll probably find a few colors that you’ll LOVE.

Surely I am trying out. I don’t think MAC India has launched these yet. But, powder blue, here I come!

Thank you for the review! I’m wondering if the neutral shades look too similar once on the skin to buy more than one? So so so saucy, cushy life, best makeup and plead guilty look like they differ slightly swatched on your arm but I’m wondering if they look the same on the eye?

Hey Lamya, I think the colors you mentioned are similar but they have different undertones so they will look different on the eye. For instance Plead Gilty is very yellow (and more sparkly) while So So Saucy is more peach. I think Cushy Life and Best Makeup are very similar (both are more neutral). If you get a chance to play around with these, you’ll probably only want one or two of these 4 shadows them because they are all in the same family. Hope this helps!

I had hoped these would be more of a shimmer than a sparkle, I already have most of these pastel type shades in Bobby Brown Sparkle shadows, so I may have to pass. I probably will grab one because of the packaging though.

That lipstick is just incredible on your skin tone! And I’m loving the look with a blue wash of colour. I really like the sound of these – I’m always a little hesitant with cream formulas as I have such oily eyelids! Did you need any primer or did these just stay out for you?

Thanks Becky! These are less creamy than your typical cream eyeshadow (like Charlotte Tillbury for example). My lids are pretty oily and without priming there’s some creasing but only in the crease area and not on the lid. I bet with a primer these would look nearly perfect all day because they dry down to a powder finish.

Big Bad Blue and Jealous Girl tempt me quite a lot… how much similar are they to NARS Dual Intensity (probably more to Tarvos and Credssida than Deep End and Pool Shark) ? I can only buy them online and am trying to figure out if I can help having too much similar colours 🙂 ! Thanx!!!!

Hey Altea! Jealous Girl is more green than Tarvos. Another difference is that Tarvos sort of has silvery shimmer throughout (if my memory is right) while Jealous Girl does not. I think Cressida and Big Bad Blue are quite similar, the main difference being that Cressida will be a bit more vibrant. Hope this helps!

I am not 100% convinced, as they are very sparkly. I guess I have to look at them in person.
