I can’t even… I am SO HAPPY it’s Friday, my friend. I don’t know, but this week was draining. Even though it was just more of the same, really, the whole sameness of it all is wearing on me. I know you’re probably in a similar boat, or you’re an essential worker out there doing your best, or you’re unemployed because of this. Whatever the case may be, I’m sorry this is happening to you. To all of us. These are strange, unsettling days indeed. 🙁
But what can we do, other than our best every day to get through it? And none of us knows the “best” or the “right” way to deal with something like this. We all have different needs and responsibilities, different situations. I want you to know I’m with you, and I support you. You’re doing your best, just like I am too. 😊👍
With that, here’s a little something makeup-related, because why not right? For this look I used a glitter eyeshadow as my liner (the bronze glitter from the MAC Selena La Reina palette).
Such a handy hack!

You just load an angled eyeliner brush (I like the NARS #47) with your glitter shadow of choice, spray the brush head with setting spray, and, because fallout isn’t fun, tap it to unload any excess powder bits, and then run the brush along your lash lines.
The result?
The same shiny effect you get from a shimmery liquid eyeliner, except that’s it’s easier to do because you don’t have to deal with wet liner spreading all over your lids or getting up into your crease.
And you know I like easy, especially lately.
Makeup worn in this look
- BASE: MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance and MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Stick in NC42
- EYES: MAC Selena La Reina eyeshadow palette (matte medium brown in crease, glittery bronze on the upper lash line), Laura Mercier Caviar Mascara (lashes), MAC Cool Jazz Technakohl Liner (upper water line)
- CHEEKS: MAC Pinch Me Blush
- LIPS: MAC Selena La Reina Lip Pencil in Entre a Mi Mundo, MAC Love Nectar Lipglass
By the way, there are many setting sprays that work well with this trick. I’ve used MAC Fix+, Urban Decay All Nighter; the ones by Make Up For Ever and Shiseido are also great. In a pinch, even water will do.
If you plan to do this to a pan of glitter, I suggest designating one area of your pan to be the place where you *always* dip the wet brush head; otherwise, if you’re grabbing from all over the place, you can turn the top layer of your shadow into a hard, clumpy mess.
For the life of me, I haven’t been able to take a normal pic today, because my coworkers have been ALL UP IN MY BUSINESS.

Did you notice the mystery hand in the lower corner?

I’ve been making a self-quarantine playlist and have been playing Billy Idol’s Dancing With Myself like nobody’s business, but I’m very thankful that, throughout this period of isolation, I haven’t really been by myself. Thank you for stopping by and keeping in touch.
When I was a kid and this played on MTV, I’d change the channel because it scared me.
You’re welcome to join The Girl’s Club! So far, it’s just me, Rosie and the CoyCoy. Lifetime membership!

If you’re going to join us, just know that you’ll be required to either play hopscotch, ride bikes or jump rope. Standard Girls Club stuff, ya know.
Last weekend, I jumped rope for the first time in…I don’t even know how long, and OH, MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS, I’m still recovering. My body hella hurts, dude!
I’ve been teaching Connor how to jump rope (this is what she gets in her classes at “mom home school,” ha ha), and for some demented reason, I thought it might be kinda fun to take up jumping rope as my new form of cardio…
Wow, that was a questionable idea.

I jumped for three minutes straight (well, I tried to, at least), rested for a minute, then repeated the cycle. I did this seven times. I figured, hey, I’m not in terrible shape. I can jump rope for a total of 24 minutes, right? Piece. Of. Cake.
Nope! Apparently, one doesn’t need much rope jumping to hobble themselves for an entire week. The next day, I could barely walk. Who knew?!
Can you remember the last time you jumped rope? If you can, did you do a double under?! (Yes, it’s a thing.)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF! 😃❤️
I love the 10-minute makeup looks, keep ’em coming. I’m going to be forced to do my makeup today, because we have a video doctors appointment for my dad. (Wait, did I just say “forced to do my makeup”? You know there is something seriously wrong with the world when I say that.)
My girls and I would love to be part of the Girls Club. If we did not have an entire country between us, we would totally ride bikes and play hopscotch from a safe distance of six feet. 😃
Of course you and the girls are in! Welcome to Girls Club!
P.S. I hope your dad is doing OK. How did the appointment go?
I’m submitting my application to join the Girls’ Club. I can do all three required things! The last time I did a kickboxing class in person was when I jumped rope. It’s not fun for cardio pre-KB but I used to be a part of a school team in elementary school doing tricks!
You are so in! 🙂
OMG, love, love, love this photo of the three of you, it’s fabulous!
There must be something in the area because way up here on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in Maine, I’m thrilled that it’s Friday. Even though it’s a work day for me, from my house, which I’m very grateful for.
It’s sunny and gorgeous here. Husband and I snuck out at lunch time for a hike.
Now I’m getting not enough done for my JOB but I’m in a good mood so I don’t really care.
You must be in excellent shape to have jump roped for nearly half an hour! There’s a reason all the boxers jump rope, it’s crazy tough. It’s been probably four years since I’ve done a jump rope. I’ve got a nagging foot injury from yoga (of all things) so I’m thinking I probably shouldn’t try it until I get that looked at. I kept putting it off and putting it off and now, Corona! So I don’t want to go near a medical office until this subsides.

I thought I was in semi-decent cardiovascular shape but according to Bob the Jumprope that is a questionable belief. LOL!
And yay for the weekend! Are you cooking/baking/making anything fun?
There will be something in the oven but I’m most sure what yet. I’ve been wanting to replicate this chocolate cinnamon “bread” that Starbucks used to sell.
But, I’ve also want to try a batch of biscotti, which I’ve never made before.
Typing that reply on my phone thus all the wrong words 😒🙀
Two weeks ago or was it three? my trainer made me do a minute of double unders, then rest for a minute and another minute of double unders times 5. I actually like jumping rope. Just not double unders. I remember having so much fun doing double dutch during recess and lunch when I was in grade school.
Love the photo of the girls club. Looks like Rosie Girl has warmed up to your love quite nicely.
TGIF, hope you have a good weekend.
TGIF! It’s been a long week (a long couple of weeks, really), so I’m happy to be on the cusp of the weekend. I keep meaning to tell you that I finally put up the oatmeal cookie recipe. Here it is! Sorry it took so long.
P.S. Re: jump rope. I think I might be doing something wrong with my technique, which is why I was so sore. Or, I just could be not as in shape as I think I am, HA HA HA!
I think your soreness has to do with technique. Fitness relates to how long you can go before a break because you get winded. As long as you’re not doing double unders you don’t have to jump that high. And just like double unders you want to keep your elbows close to your body and spin the rope with your wrists. If you’re shins are sore, it could be the surface you’re jumping on.
I saw the oatmeal cookie recipe, thank you for sharing. If my local store had any sugar or chocolate chips I would make them. It’s ridiculous how much is sold out down this way. I don’t know if there are really shortages or people are just hoarding. I drove to the Korean market in Daly City on Tuesday and it was orderly and well stocked, unlike the zoo that is my local grocery store.
I was sort of feeling the drag of this week, too. Here’s hoping we all have a relaxing weekend and a better week with brighter news next week.
Happy Friday! I’m loving this makeup look. I still haven’t ventured back into wearing any, but I like having some inspiration for when I do.
I remember doing a jump rope workout back in college and it was HARD! Back in elementary school, I remember it being so easy and fun. Sigh, getting older is rough. 🙂
I would love to join The Girls Club! Nina would love to as well. She would love to get away from her annoying brothers. 🙂
TGIF! Hope you have a great weekend.
I love that picture of you 3 girls so much! Thank you for sharing your joy with the rest of us.
Girl’s club, yes please! Count me in 🙂 I just rediscovered a jump rope I got probably 3 months ago. Might start using it to get that caaardio in, baby! I’ll try and take it easier than you, haha. Glad you said something about it otherwise I’m sure I would have overdone it!
These pictures make me so happy but the picture with your daughters hand freaked me out lol! I´m like: why is your hand so tiny – before I got it! Hahahahaha!

I’m very late for this post, but I’ll join the Girls’ Club! The easiest physical activity for me would probably be riding bikes. I just need to find a really feminine bike helmet in a women’s size-my bike is a Schwinn x Orange County Choppers Stingray handed down from a friend of my dad’s who didn’t want it anymore, so I want a really girly helmet to feminize my macho bike!
