What Were Your Best and Worst Beauty Experiences of the Week?

What were your best and worst beauty experiences of the week?

MY BEST:

Painting my nails with Lippmann Collection’s nail polish in Happy Birthday. Seeing the sparkles on my fingertips makes me smile. 🙂

MY WORST:

I was out running errands the other day when I brushed a hand across some stiff hairs on my chin… lovely. They were that really annoying kind, the stubbly ones not quite long enough to pluck. I kept obsessing about ’em, touching my chin throughout the day and trying, unsuccessfully, to remove them with my fingernails, LOL! Eventually, I got a good enough grip with some tweezers at home…

What were your best and worst beauty experiences of the week? Lemme know in the comments!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hola! My worst beauty experience of the week was realizing that my hairdresser unevenly cut my bangs, and left them thin and wispy…not good for a gal with thicker than grass hair. However, the beauty week redeemed itself when I got my eyebrows waxed by my talented aesthetician.

My best: scoring some of the givenchy spring 2010 ‘le prisme blush’ & ‘le prisme mono eyeshadow’ :AMAZiNG.

My worst: a perfume leak in my room … spilled all over some notebooks & was so strong that I had a horrible headache 🙁

My worst experience was when my Zeno, Retin-A and Salicyclic Acid did not stop this giant zit in the middle of my cheek. It is going down, but not as fast as I want. I haven’t been able to do any FOTD’s since it decided to rear its nasty head. It is slowly shrinking, but I think I’ll attack it with an acne clearing mask too.

My best experience was picking up the LAST Tarte Treasure Chest at Sephora yesterday. (They only got 6 of them!) I almost ordered it online, so I was excited they had it in stock. It has 32 eyeshadows!!! 16 lipglosses! 4 blushes, a highlighter and a bronzer. OMG! O_O I’m going to be playing with it all week. 🙂

My best beauty moment this week was getting contact lenses again. I’ve been wearing my glasses constantly for the last two years, and I like them, but it’s nice to be able to change it up!

My worst beauty moment was using some older eye shadow that I should have thrown out, because it feels like my eyes are a little bit infected now. Darn it! But it’s a valuable lesson learned!

This was a bad week for beauty for me. I don’t think I even had anything that could qualify as a good beauty moment all week. The worst, on the other hand was a four-way tie between ungroomed brows, gross fingernails, overgrown roots (with gray showing), and breakouts! Moving is tough on the personal maintenance! I don’t know how you did it without letting your looks slack, but I probaby need some tips. I finally filed my nails yesterday and attacked my brows with the tweezers. I hope I’ll have time to dye my hair today, and as far as the breakouts, I’ve decided to ignore them.

Best: Trying the OPI Suede nailpolish in Lincoln Park After Dark. I love the original glossy finish but the Suede finish is oh so cool because it is the perfect blacken pink with sparkles and the polish dries to a matte. I thought this was what MAC Baby Goth Girl should have looked look but in a glossier glittery finish. Plus the suede version looks nothing like the original version, which is a nice surprise.

Worst: I tried a new mask 2 weeks ago and this week I erupted in huge cystic whiteheads on my forehead that is quite painful. Fortunately it is finally clearing up.

Best: a haircut that I love more than I thought possible.

Worst: realizing I could easily pass for Cousin It (from the Addams Family) pre-cut. Definitely NOT a look I wanted.

So glad you’re loving the nailpolish… the photos of it made me grin ear-to-ear. Thinking my next Sunday stop should be a makeup counter… 😉

My best: falling in love with cover girl’s lash blast mascara. Tried it for the first time, since my Givenchy eye fly ran out. It’s pretty good for a drugstore mascara, I can understand the hype!

My worst: not being able to manage the oilies on my face! gah I wish there was a magic cure…

Best: I finally found a new mascara I like! Which is hard for me – I’m way too picky for my own good.

Worst: The stupid chin zits I thought I had finally gotten rid of are popping up again! grrr…

Looks like this is the “Best Of” week for mascara….

Best: getting my Givenchy Effet Extension from FF2009….it is now, hands down my FAV BEAUTY ITEM of 2009. My lashes never looked so good

Worst: aweful case of dry scalp…I recently changed shampoo/conditioner, hoping it would solve the problem, but I’m still suffering. Anyone got a cure?

Best- Finally figure how to use false lashes (after years and years of trying) and they stayed put all night and looked hot!!

Worst- The days where my make-up just randomly dissappears. I put it on and it dissolved or something. I looked like i had nothing on today (and after a night out dancing and drinking the night before it wasnt pretty!)

Best: finally getting to wear my stripey wool L.A.M.B. jacket from the Nordstrom anniversary sale, and it was a hit.

Worst: my toenails are turning ominous colors from running, and it’s really nasty. I’m just going to paint them all black and pretend there’s nothing to worry about.

Worst (just like many other people’s worst) is the pimple which popped up under my chin. My Mario Badescu stuff wasn’t able to completely clear it up. My best was how nice my hair looked after using a new Frederik Fekkai conditioner.

It’s funny you commented on CG Lash blast – that was the one I was going to try if Maybelline failed me!

Best: doing a friend’s makeup for her Halloween party, false lashes and everything! She loved it, thankfully. 🙂
Worst: falling ill with an ear infection, pharyngitis, and strep throat. All simultaneously. Hard to feel cute when all I want to do is sleep the germs away.

best: I did hot pink eyeshadow yesterday and rocked it 🙂

WORST EVER:this morning I was getting ready for work and in a rush I grabbed my shirt on the table and accidentally knocked over an OPENED bottle of foundation… which then proceeded to fall and splatter all over my clothes, arms, the floor, and my BLACK pants…omg, I was about to cry. and was late to work and now I think my pants and my shirt are ruined T____T

My best was also a glittery manicure – Sephora for OPI in worth my weight. My worst is that I have several zits! I never break out! I blame school stress 🙁

My best: trying a sample of Laura Mercier lipgloss I got with other freebies at Nordstrom in a makeup bag. Oh.my.gosh. This is my holy grail lipgloss – exactly what I have been searching for (my MAC Dazzleglass in Baby Sparks from the holiday collection lip set is a close second)! If Sephora Family and Friends is still going on, I am buying from there. Also tried samples Frederic Fekai shampoo & conditioner. Hello! Love it!

My worst: Trying to paint my fingernails a dark color and I kept messing up (OPI Siberian Nights). Beautiful color, but I am so inept painting my own nails.

best: fully waxed my face (thanks, indian werewolf genes!) after weeks of putting it off. ahhh, fuzz-free skin!

worst: i’d been looking forward to trying my nails inc. little venice polish for some time – on others it looked like a gorgeous soft peach, but on my skin it looked like a plain old baby pink. booooooring, and so not me.

    Hi Karen,
    Long time…no post….

Well my worse experience is that I have been breaking out and I have to figure out if it’s from my Stila stick foundation or my beloved NARS cleansing oil. I’ll have to resort to process of elimination. Also, I thought my Dior Addict high shine lipstick was a great purchase. It’s a great color however, dried my lips out severely and my lips are cracking a little on the side and it’s PAINFUL! ugh I’ll just stick to my Creme de Gloss – luckily I’ve had great luck with that product!

best – just sticking to my tried and true products – Ammo palette, NARS lipstick/gloss and painted my nails Suzi Skis the Pyrenees – a hypbrid of a charcoal and cobalt.

Was also at Corte Madera today – wow, it was a lovely day! My daughter loved exploring the shopping area.

    My worst: None 🙂

My best was getting my nails done in Chanel Rouge Noir. (Toni – I don’t even try to do dark colors myself, I have next to no hand-eye coordination!)

My worst was that I’m breaking out, and while I was getting my nails done, my manicurist basically told me she was doing my brows as well (I usually get it done there, so it wasn’t exactly presumptuous, I just didn’t think they were that bad…)

OMG! Karen, I feel ya on the chin hairs. I play with mine constantly if I happen to feel them growing. It is horrible if you don’t have tweezers and have to run errands or do something all day. Drives me nuts until I can get home to pull them out. lol

Best – A really pretty manicure

Worst – Try a worst month & a half starting with a huge cystic zit right between the eyes & when it finally started to heal I got another one right next to it!! How’s that for embarassing and humbling! LOL.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
