What Were Your Best and Worst Beauty Experiences of the Week?

MY BEST:

Stumbling across a trick to get crisp lines in cat eye looks. Who knew how well a makeup wedge sponge wet with eye makeup remover and run along the edges of liner could work? I had some of my sharpest, best defined lines evah. WHOLE new eyelining world. 🙂

MY WORST:

Discovering a new batch of white hairs in my bangs. How do those suckers develop so quickly? I swear they appear overnight, like beauty crop circles or poison mushrooms. Le sigh…

What were your best and worst beauty experiences of the week? Please share yours in the comments.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Best- discovering a new eye combo that works even though it uses clashing shades!!

Worst- the 5 seconds it took for me to sweat my make-up off today.. so even the best blot powder cant handle the humid croatian heat!!

      Hi Tali,

Ugh, I hate it when that happens! I swear the first thing that slips right off is the powder…

Hope you’re having fun in your country!

OK! I definitely have something to contribute to this post. Worst – This week I got bit by a bug directly under my right eye. The bite was so itchy and painful at the same time. I tried not to itch it, but it was so hard not to! The area under my eye swelled up really bad and it looked so puffy. The other eye looked completely normal so I looked so lopsided. UGH! The best part of the week beauty-wise was when the bite stopped being so annoyingly itchy and the swelling went down. Then the bite was actually visible. At that point, it started going away and now it’s almost completely gone. The area is just slightly pink, but the surface is smooth.

Best – Playing with the Armani Manta duo, the colors are so understated and cool, they go with almost anything I pair with them! And even though the finish is matte, they are still easily workable and have this kind of luminous quality that keeps them from being boring! They are so sophisticated and classy-looking! Love!

Worst – My nails! My fingernails just keep peeling, so even the most carefully-applied polish starts chipping in a day or two, and my toes have been neglected for weeks now!

    Happy Sunday!

Best – Trying out the Tresemme 24H Volume shampoo and loving it. Smells yummy and although I’m not sure its doing much in the way of volumising it, my hair feels gorgeous.

Worst – Being disappointed at the colour payoff of some neon products from the Stargazer range. I went to a neon party on Friday and I didn’t really feel neon enough. I also seem to have a problem with my left eye being swollen for no logical reason. Not hot at all 🙁

Best- Found an awesome way off of Youtube to wear eyeshadow and have it look very crisp and lovely, using a mix of golden pinks, browns, and cream.

Worst- My eyebrows! I have a partial unibrow and tons of stray hairs because I am growing them back to pluck them. They are so ugly!

Best: using an old business card to help from e/s fall out. i cut a notch the shape of my eye at the top of the card and WALLA!

Worst: FORGETTING to wash my face or maybe just to lazy then breaking out a couple days later! DO your daily regimen ladies! Lesson learned!

Best: receiving the sweetest ROAK package that instantly doubled the number of lipsticks I had, then trying one that was totally out of my comfort zone but actually looked really good!

Worst: didn’t wash my concealer brush for 3 days straight so I just went without concealer LOL…

My best was discovering eyeshadow primer by Urban Decay. No creases the entire day! So swoon worthy.

The worst was finding chin hairs = (

Best: Getting a pedicure on my way home from the first week of school. Pretty lilac color, and the massage felt so relaxing 🙂

Worst: Trying a new mascara and discovering that the wand has a funny angle, so I made a HUGE smear on my cheek while trying to apply it. Oops!

Best was going to Saks Beverly Hills to check out Dolce & Gabbana line in person! Great CS and beautiful wall-unit even if it was all gold and shiny like their packaging (which I find gaudy).

Worst was Fred Segal Beauty Location. Didn’t have a bad experience there, but was just extremely underwhelmed and disappointed in their selection. Floor layout seemed more like a warehouse than a beauty studio. Was just hoping to find a cute beauty boutique stocked with lots of cute items. I’ll be sticking to Sephora/Nordies/Neimans/Saks.

Best: getting the Sleek Curious palette and my haul from the ELF studio line. I love their powder and complexion brushes, they work really well and the bristles are so soft!

Worst: the ELF studio bronzer arrived a bit broken 🙁

Worst- humidity hair!! It has not been pretty.

My best: I have 2 of those: First I finally start going to gym and second my father and my brother went to sea for 7 days so I feel like in vacation without them.
My worst: I didn’t had any fun this week 🙁

Worst: Getting layers, four inches off the bottom, and sidebangs with my curly hair SERIOUSLY frizzed it out. The cut was at 11 AM and I had Wizard of Oz rehearsal at 7, and I had to put it in a bun or look like I was just swept in from the 80’s, lol!

Best: managing to apply winged liner PERFECTLY without closing my eye or pulling at the lid.

Worst: sweating like a man and having my makeup slide off. The makeup on my chin always goes all funny when I sweat, and that’s where I need the most coverage 🙁

Best – using my new Lancome goodies which you reviewed and recommended. Love them!

Worst – I think I figured out what is making me break out which saddens me because it is my Shu Uemura oil. I use to use it a long time ago and really liked it but stopped using it because of the cost.

BEST – Paul & Joe sea moss eye shadow! I ROCK out in green. Like.. rock so hard I can wear it to work everyday without looking overdone.

WORST – I got the cutest flats at the GAP a couple months ago that I just never wore. They’re little striped nautical shoes with tiny shoestring bows in the front. Stupid me.. I finally decided to wear them at work.. for the first time. I’m still suffering days later with HUGE, open wounds on the back of my heels ;___; And the band-aids keep falling off!

Best- Finding a new eyeshadow combo I’m in love with. It’s a quick neutral eye but I don’t normally wear them so it’s good to have a go-to combo!

Worst- Plucking my eyebrows, and then missing a hair creating a big red spot under my brow. It was kinda like a mini cut but has already scabbed over; should be rid of it soon!

Best…getting some new fabulous jewelery! Worst? Looking awful/drab/dead/dull/lifeless AND having my knees hurt. Doesn’t get worse – or more embarrassing to write about. I had to blog how bad I looked, along with the cure.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
