What Were Your Best and Worst Beauty Experiences of the Week?

November 22nd, 2009 by Karen 21 Comments

MY BEST:

Discovering the miracle that is Sexy Hair Smooth and Protect Spray (review coming soon). It enforces good hair behavior, enhances shine and generally makes my hair look less birds-nesty.

MY WORST:

Toe shock 2009! I couldn’t believe what I saw when I looked down at my feet earlier this week. I’ve got some seriously gnarled cuticles that need cuticle oil, ASAP!

What were your best and worst beauty experiences of the week? Please share yours in the comments.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ah… I have two tied for best:
    – Using a quick-dry top coat on my nails for the first time. On a whim, I picked up Poshe Quick-Dry Topcoat and OMG my life is changed!! I can do my nails anytime I want now! Polish completely dry in 5 minutes flat! Unfortunately it’s kind of chippy for me… don’t know if that’s just it’s interaction with $OPI Worth My Weight (which is gorgeous and blingtastic) or in general, but I will test it out some more, and maybe still cave on Seche Vite. Still life-changing though!
    – MAC 5 Haute Hijinks + Cocomotion = LOVE. I have been wearing these pigments all week and I adore them! Even got compliments from the BFF at our Friday brunch.

My worst beauty moment was definitely getting another cystic pimple on my nose (definitely the most sensitive part of my face and dang that thing hurts! D:), just as my skin was almost all the way better (well, albeit scars) too! So frustrating!

Best – my skin is clearing up. Yay!

Worst – I was looking at my brows today and they are in desperate need of a wax. Hoping to get to the Benefit Brow Bar this week.

    Have a great week!

Best – My skin kinda being nice to me ^_^
Worst – Realising they do not sell China Glaze nail polish in Australia and i don’t know anyone from the states who can get it for me 🙁 I’m a sucker for punishment because i can’t stop reading American blogs and 99% of the things featured on them are not sold over here LOL

Best – realising that the roots of my hair aren’t obvious at all so I can just relax and let my hair grow now 🙂

Worst – My mascara running from the rain by the time I got to school and not having time to quickly wipe it away before the first student saw me. That was rather embarassing (it went through the different classes at top speed :s)

And I want to go see New Moon but I don’t know when yet. Was it good?

Best – getting some Dior goodies from the Sephora FF sale! They were pretty pricey but I’m excited about them!

Worst – my winter eczema is starting and I’m dry and itchy 🙁

My best: compliments on my hair, and new easy eye makeup.

My worst: my skin is stressing. Boo on that.

Best: Getting Photogravurue Technakohl eyeliner! Oh my god my old eyeliner (Urban Decay’s in Zero) would NOT sharpen! This one twists up, so I’m happy 🙂

Worst: Hmm…a little piece of hair opposite my side bangs always flies up, and it’s really annoying. Ha ha, I can’t really think of anything else, so I guess that’s a good sign!

Hmm, I think my best experience would be when I realized that after I put in my hair smoothing gel I should use a fine tooth comb so that the product was better distributed. I just comb through slowly and gently. Duh! I had been using a wide tooth comb and wondering why my hair stayed frizzy.

Worst: Constantly dry lips. I’ve been slathering Aquaphor on them like crazy.

Oh, oh! I have another best experience: tried Olay Time Effects eye cream after reading about it in Shop Smart (Consumer Reports) and I love, love, love it! I have only used it this weekend, but it seems to help with reducing the dark circles.

Worst: I’ve had one of those awful underground zits on my chin for 3 weeks, and it will not go away. It’s shrunk, but it keeps picking random times to get redder. So frustrating.

Best: New shampoo made my hair look fab.

Best – finally worked up to lining my waterline. 🙂 Love the drama!

Worst – being stuck on work travel with not nearly enough makeup with me. Turns out I need a lot of variety on a two week trip.

Worst: Got a few new “friends” [enemies *cough] on my face. I should just cave and go back to expensive proactiv again…

Best: Tie between discovering translucent powder over Soft Ocher for a soft natural, smooth lid look, and Fawntastic on my cheekbones and along my nosebridge!

Worst: My eczema is flaring up. It hurts to walk! It’ll see better days though, the weather isn’t bad and I won’t be in school forever!

Best – Pureology Curl Define Creme — gives me soft, frizz-free waves that I love. I’d been taking a hiatus from silicone but I think having one product will be manageable.

Worst – My skin is still struggling with the change of seasons. Acne and dry skin is just not fun.

Best- Bought some CG outlast lipstain.. it’s like a marker, but with stain. and it STAYS.
Worst- One of those achy, throbbing under-the-skin zits IN my eyebrow… big and bad and oh how I want to pick at it, but I know it shouldn’t, cause then it will scar.

Best: My friend that works at Sephora gave me a makeover using the TEMPTU airbrush system. It was pretty cool!

Worst: A ginormous buried pimple erupted on my chin. Gross.

Best: I did a beautiful purple smokey eye for my cousin’s night time wedding. It was almost too much makeup compared to the other girls because most girls there went for the natural look, but didn’t care! I liked my look and for the sake of my beauty addiction and my passion for experimenting, it is all good! I liked my look anyway.

Worst: 3 little pimples appeared on my forehead a few days before the wedding and didn’t disappear.

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
