What Are You Wearing on Your Nails?

November 12th, 2014 by Karen 30 Comments

Uslu Airlines NMA Namangan and BGX Brazil Swatches

Ding! Thank you for flying Uslu Airlines. Have a colorful day. 🙂

Today I’m wearing two shades from upstart Berlin beauty brand Uslu Airlines. The dark creamy oxblood shade is called NMA Namangan, and the metallic rose gold is BGX Brazil.

The names are kind of funky, right? They’re actually airport codes, like SFO is for San Francisco International. Isn’t that cool?

So, Uslu Airlines, their thing is that each of their pieces takes you on a different trip to a different virtual destination, except without the delayed flights, baggage claim and narrow airplane aisles.

Ooh! I would love a collection baed on places I’ve been. Hello, note to Uslu Airlines — whom do I talk to about that? 🙂

The brand has their own makeup (lipsticks, glosses, powders and concealers) and nail polishes.

They’re also damned hard to find here in the US right now, which is both a blessing and a curse. It makes them more exclusive, which, ya know, I like, but then there’s whole not being able to find them thing…

They do have a few shops in Europe (Colette Paris, Departmentstore im Quartier 206 Berlin, Apropos Cologne, 10 Corso Como Milan, and Stefano Saccani Parma), but that doesn’t exactly help me, LOL!

And they also sell their products through their website. The nail polishes go for €19,00 each, or about $23 US.

There is another option. Some of their polishes and lipsticks are available from netaporter.com for $16 and $25 each, respectively, although I don’t see the two shades I’m wearing here…

Happy hump day, my friend. Tell me — what are you wearing on your nails?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Right now all I have on my nails is a coat of Sally Hansen nail hardener. I’ve kinda beat up my nails a bit this week due to glitter polish and so I’m giving them a break.

Ooh pretty! I like how they’re named after airports. I’m wearing China Glaze Merry Berry, a darkish red color, which I’m pretty sure I got on clearance after the holidays last year. Have you tried Rescue Beauty Lounge? I’m thinking of placing an order because they just came out with a new collection, and I always order 5 polishes at a time cause then you get free shipping!

These are really pretty, rich colors. I just got a mani with a deep purple, and it chipped already! Any tips to keep a fresh mani from chipping?

I’m wearing Revlon’s Sheer Petal and I filed my nails into short-ish claws, then painted the edges of the point with black polish (they kind of look like upside down hearts).

These look really pretty. I like the idea of the names standing for airport names. I need to see if there us a DTW. I’m currently wearing three different shades from the Zoya winter collection. But I have to change it before the wedding on Friday.

Well, you have certainly given us enough hoops to jump through (on Hump Day) to get a new nail polish!

Earlier, I took out of my little dresser top drawer the little square box (the one called “Fabulous”) of Chanel Le Vernis (nope, they can’t call it polish). I was going to go with Atmosphere cause of the overcast weather, but seeing the oxblood color on your nails, I decided on Accessoire.

I ran out of Madness (not a bad thing!) which is d/c. This shade is an almost-close second.

Also a dark oxblood shade – Essie’s shearling darling from their winter collection last year 🙂

Hey Karen. Those are really cool nail polishes!

I’m wearing Essie Jump in my Jumpsuit and a gold glitter polish from Maybelline color show (can’t remember the name of the gold glitter).

Just a clear Zoya base coat with a clear Estée Lauder top coat. You know, for that my-nails-but-better effect. And also a bit out of laziness 😉

ESSIE Sole Mate. Bought it last year in december and have been looking forward to wearing it again now fall is here. It is a very deep burgundy red, and I like it on short nails.

I just had my nails done last night and decided it was time to wear my favorite fall/winter color – Chanel’s Malice. It’s the perfect burgundy shimmer for season. I’m so happy I bought a backup, I just wish I had bought 3 more!

I just had my nails done on Sunday, I was wearing a burgundy color similar to what you are wearing. Now I have a shimmery dark blue from Gelish.

Love the pairing of these- I am always on the hunt for a flattering rosegold and that Brazil is just lovely on you. Today I am wearing a summery bright pink on just shortened tips. YSL 12 Rose Renaissance. It looks like the love child of OPI Strawberry Margarita and Chanel Vernis Rose Insolent. Just waiting for fall weather to arrive to inspire me to paint dark vampy or grey neutral colors, like some of the ones mentioned above(Chanel Malice, Accesoire, Essie Sole Mate are all in my line up, ready to go- nice choices!)

Chanel Alchemie…just when I thought I would never buy another bottle of Chanel polish. I have become smitten with the color lineup. I am not going to be a full-on collector but I can see myself falling down a big ass rabbit hole!!

Oh no…I’m doomed. Yes, I just got one of the online exclusive shades – No.19 – a very cute pink red. Now, I’m jonesing for the Orage shade. As if I don’t already have a bluish charcoal shade.

I’m wearing a very chipped up Chanel Orage on my nails (work did a number on them).

I just picked up OPI’S little Northies pack (I think that is what it is called) at Ulta so I will probably be redoing my nails tonight!

Looove those colors! I’m not wearing anything on my nails right now, but I got a mini of Formula X’s A+ yesterday at Sephora. (It’s a 100 point VIB bonus item.) So I’ll be trying that soon. I’ve heard mixed reviews on Formula X products, so we’ll see how it goes.

I’m really digging the Oxblood shade! Random fact, I used to be a travel agent and knew all the airport codes! On my nails right now is a gorgeous dark gray shimmer from Rainbow Honey. Pretty sure it’s Sinful Colors Prosecco’s older sister!
