Okay, this is a totally random way to start the day, but I’m excited! I haven’t been to Japantown in ages, and I’m supposed to be going tonight.
Yes, it’s barely 8:30 in the morning right now, and I’m already thinking about dinner…
And magazines!
El Hub and I are meeting my bro and his girlfriend for Korean barbecue (yup, Korean barbecue in San Francisco’s Japantown), and if we can get there early enough, I hope to visit Kinokuniya Bookstore, which is this huge bookstore filled with Japanese books — everything from business books to art, anime and manga, children’s literature, and an awesome magazine section with literally hundreds of titles.
I can’t read many of them, ya know, except for the few that are in English, but I love looking at the pictures. The fashion, photography and art mags are my faves.
How are you doing this morning? I hope your day got off to a good start.
Oh! — I’ve got a movie rental recommendation for you. It’s called The Way, starring Martin Sheen. It’s about a father who heads overseas to recover the body of his estranged son who died while traveling the “El camino de Santiago,” and decides to take the pilgrimage himself.
Just a wonderful film (found it on Netflix) that warmed my heart and also made me really want to take a trip to Europe.
Have a great day today, whatever you’re up to. Before you jet, don’t forget to enter both of this weekend’s giveaways (here’s the other one, for some Cos Bar products from Target). Might as well. I mean, since you’re already here. 🙂
What folks are saying…
“Thanks so much, Karen. Just in case you were wondering what I got with it, I decided to go with the Clarisonic Mia–I’ve been wanting it for years now, but have never purchased it because of the price. Your eCard helped me finally buy it! I look forward to using it. Thanks again!”
-Jane“Shut the front door! OMG Karen, you have made my day. 🙂 I’m sick in bed with the flu and this has just cheered me up immensely!!!!!!!! BTW, I’m the one that sent you that pic of my pug in a wig a few weeks back LOL! Thanks again, honestly, I’m beyond giddy right now.”
-Angel“Oh my goodness! Thank you so much Karen (and Tabs, of course)! I really appreciate this! I’d been eyeing the Anastasia brow pencil in Strawburn to match my red hair!”
-Chelsea (and Jiji the kitten and Quincy the bunny)“Never before have I been so pleased to check my email right before bed!!! Thank you so, so much! I truly enjoy your blog and check it almost daily! Thanks again! This made my night!”
-Melissa, Edmond, OK“Hi Karen. Oh my goodness! I can’t believe I won! :O Thank you so much! You, Tabs, and your blog are amazing! Thank you for keeping me updated on all things beauty and more importantly, for keeping me entertained! Keep doing your thing! 🙂 Thank you again.”
-Jacqueline“Hi Karen. Thank you so much, I’m so excited, I’ve never won anything before. My name is Hana … I just turned 25 (today is my birthday!) Yay! Thank you.”

I would love this. Yes again I am trying!
Some beauty products that i really wish we had here in the U.S. are a bunch of European brands like Barry M or sleek! I really wish we would have more Asian beauty stores as well because I love to try asian BB creams!
I speak two languages, English and Spanish.
I only speak 1 language.
I speak two languages English and French Creole (patois)
Thank you and happy weekend to you and tabs…
🙂
I only speak one language.
My favourite magazine is LouLou! It’s a Canadian style magazine. 🙂
My sister inlaw is from Okinawa, Japan – she is always sending me fun foods, candies, trinkets, & magazines from Japan. The candy is the best, as you never know exactly what it is until you try it (unless of course, you can read Japanese!).
Also tweeted! @kimpcole
I just ended my 3 & 1/2 year relationship. I’m leaving my home and Annabelle. I deserve to win this! 🙂
Even though I’m Chinese, I recently started reading Latina magazine to keep up on my Spanish =)
I’m almost out of ice cream. Please send help ASAP!!!
I can speak English and Spanish. 🙂 Hair is in a pony today- thank goodness because it just started raining. Happy weekend Karen!
I would love this! I speak two languages, English and Spanish! One of my favorite Spanish magazines is Vanidades!
I like Asian fashion magazines, I’m pretty sure I lost an hour looking at them in Japantown.
Have fun in Japantown!! Thanks as always for the giveaway! 😀
Relaxing with the Hubs after a delicious brunch … Looking forward to family night at his sisters later 🙂
I love “looking” at any kind of magazine! And with magazines because they are in pictures it’s fun to try and guess what they are talking about!
I am a German living in the United States and I miss my German magazines! And my German drugstore! 🙂
i speak english, and i used to be fluent in spanish and conversational in french.
i’m addicted to japanese ramen these days….=DDD
I can speak 2 languages fluently. English and Tagalog. 🙂

This contest is always popular but here I am trying again! I’m hoping to get a Naked palette from Sephora!
I wish it was easier to get Sleek cosmetics in the US.
My nails are neon orange with neon purple polka dots!
I’m wearing metallic silver polish on my nails.
I have sparkly nail polish on. Have a great weekend!
I am a Korean BBQ fanatic. FANATIC, I tell you. And I love that we have so many good ones here in Hellay. Enjoy your din 🙂
I know enough French to be a bit dangerous! LOL I don’t flip through magazines in other languages but I do look at blogs in other languages. Sometimes I’ll translate & sometimes I’m just looking for product pics/swatches! I wish it was easier to get ahold of products that are so easily available at French pharmacies! Grass is always greener on the other side, huh?!!
What are you wearing on your nails?
OPI “Do You Lilac It?” An oldie but goodie! 🙂
I wish Sleek were available in the US
I can speak English and a little bit of broken French!

Even though I took spanish for 5 years… I can’t speak a word of it! I am committed to becoming fluent… sometime before I die! lol xxxo
I speak 4 languages and am trying to learn Korean 🙂 I’m kinda obsessed with languages and cultures -.-
I’d continue learning Chinese if ChinesePod actually thought grammar in the free lessons…
Pancakes! What a perfect world that would be if there was a large stack of pancakes next to a Sephora store…. Thanks for a chance at a giveaway.
Well, I speak Polish of course, I used to speak Spanish and a little bit of French but since not used I forgot most of it. I love reading Polish magazines. I have access to some online but it’s not the same as flipping through the pages of the actual magazine.
I speak 2 and a half languages!
I only speak English, but I would love to learn French!
My nails have a sunny day mani on 🙂 sky blue polish with a nail art yellow sun. Unfortunately another rainy say for us here in Vancouver today 🙁
Oh have fun tonight! I used to love going to SF Japantown when I was a teenager! I love those fish shaped pastries with the red bean paste – so yummy! And I collected the Japanese sailor moon manga…I can’t read it but it’s so pretty!
I graduate tomorrow 🙂 this card could help me buy some makeup to help me with my job interviews!
I have Essie’s Barefoot in Blue on my toes!
I speak english and urdu
I have OPI Go on Green on my toes, but nothing on my fingers.
I speak two languages more or less fluently – English (first language) and Spanish (home background – although we didn’t speak a ton of Spanish at home, and 5 years of classes). I can also speak/read Mandarin Chinese at an intermediate level (2 years classes, 3 months living in Beijing). But since I stopped taking classes, I pretty much can’t write in Chinese at all anymore… without practice all the characters fled my brain. :/ I can read Japanese hiragana, and I took one quarter of Cantonese, but all I can remember how to say is “bathroom,” “telephone,” and “I don’t speak Cantonese,” which I guess are sort of useful, LOL. I love learning new languages; if I had time, I would definitely go back to language classes.
Ah…I really need to paint my toes again! I have a lovely Butter London polish in All Hail the Queen that I just love, sparkly and pretty!
The pancake building is gorgeus!
I speak German and English and my favourite magazine is Instyle UK and Monocle. I just came home and got a new haircut and color this afternoon, and tonight is football (European Championships). If you come to Europe give us a note, maybe you can do some couch surfing
🙂
Wearing a smokey brown eye today. Have spent the better part of the afternoon drooling over bronze eyeshadows- my favorite! Nars Galapagos looks amazing…
I wish I could get Japanese products here more easily – I love the shimmers in most asian eyeshadow formulas.
I was just in SF yesterday! Down in CA for vacation 🙂
Had an amazing dinner last night celebrating one of my best friends engagement 🙂
I would love it if BourjoIs was carried in the U.S. I hear such good things about their foundation, bronzer, and mascara!
Had some cinnamon kettle corn at the farmer’s market today!
The other night I FINALLY watched “New Year’s Eve”.. it was a definite chick flick but it was perfect for a relaxing night in!
I can barely speak one language correctly, let alone more of them!
Nothing on my nails, but my toes are painted a bright orange-coral.
Something about this summer heat is making my Tarte smolderEYES liners kind of blend out on their own into a smudgy gorgeous mess. I’m hoping I can win this so I can go back and grab a couple more colors!
I love going to Japantown in San Francisco! The bakery, daiso!!!!, bookstore, ramen house, and crepe place are my favorite places to visit. Thank you for the giveaway Karen!!:)
Wearing my hair super, super flat and straight while my first-ever keratin treatment sets. Can’t wait to see it aftfer 48 hours!
I speak 2 or so languages. Two fluently or close to and then a few others more or less conversationally. I read more languages than I speak though and there are a couple languages that I can follow a story if it’s told slowly enough, but not really respond. This randomly reminds me, I’ve actually only seen Forrest Gump and read Harry Potter in French, never English. I really need to fix that.
i am really craving some waffles.
my hair’s in a ponytail because i was doing yard work.
Yay! Another chance to win $50 card for Sephora. I’ve never flipped through different language magazines- I’m only able to speak english and read english and I actually like reading the articles in magazines so it isn’t worth my time to flip through. I wish I had another language though so I could!
WHY OH WHY did they make it SO hard to get the Shu lash curler in this country?!?!?!?!?
Im wearing Im all ears by OPI on my fingers, lovely color!
Hey!! I come from Greece and I speak English and Italian! I love makeup and I am obsessed with my hair.I currently dyed them auburn and I am loving them soooo much!!! I love flipping through magazines but I prefer the internet I must say!!!

I speak 2 languages. Thank you for the giveaway!
I speak some German, and I’ve been saving up to take a trip to Europe next summer! I’ll have to bring home some magazines as souvenirs, they don’t take up much space and I’ll have something to read on the flight home 🙂
I speak fluently: English, French, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu & Italian. I can understand enough Spanish and Farsi to get by. One day I hope to learn Japanese & Mandarin. I have always loved learning languages just for the fun of it and because I can!
I speak two languages- Russian and English. And I am DYING for my “Glitter in the Air” DL nail polish to get here already so I can have sparkly hands and feet.
I’m not wearing any makeup today! Yay for makeup free weekends! 🙂
I love the higher PPD European sunscreens and I so wish we got them here in the US. If I won the gift card, that’s exactly what I’d use it on – to protect my super pale skin!
Ooh, thanks Karen! I am fluent in English obviously, but I also know American Sign Language, and I just began learning French in January! It’s been so fun. I also know a little Russian and Spanish, but I’d love to learn more.
I’m so excited that it’s almost Father’s Day!

I speak English, and enough French to get me around!
I’m starting to learn Italian, which is pretty exciting!
Oh, and my favorite magazine is Seventeen, like every other teenage girl 😉
I love speaking/learning spanish!
Just painted my nails in pink-a-boo by essie.
am wanting to get some coral polish and some bronzer to kick off summer. Been also meaning to try the new NARS foundation. It’s too hot in Texas to wear heavy makeup.
I have a huge orange tabby sleeping on my lap as I type this!
I love People Style Watch and In Style. Happy Saturday!
I went to the mall last night and bought a lot of makeup. ay yay yay! haha
i speak three languages…but i don’t mind flipping through magazines in other languages, as long as they have good images!
My daughter in law is Japanese and I love to check out her FB page where she writes in Japanese to her friends. Try to get it translated and sometimes it comes out as a very funny translation!!! Sure it is NOT what she said!

I am a college student, and I am currently living off-campus. Just this morning, I made the yummiest pancakes ever! I mean I am not one who is very adventurous with her cooking, because I only learnt how to cook since I came to the United States (about 10 months ago). My boyfee liked it too! 😀 Such things totally make my day.
Of course, it would make my day too if I won the Sephora gift card too. 😀
Thank you for having such contests.
I love to “read” French, Spanish and Italian Vogue. It’s so much fun to see fashion trends in other countries!
OMG! Sephora is just so much fun. I blew out both ankles the beginning of February and was bedridden with 2 casts for 2 1/2 months. I’m still recovering and limited in that I can’t walk much or drive much so I’m still doing almost all my shopping online. It’s the only thing that kept my sanity after being a prisoner in bed was getting packages of makeup that I ordered! I’d love to get that new Hourglass primer since I’m addicted to their tinted moisturizer. And if I wish for some products they carried here in the US, I wish we had Jill Stuart makeup! It’s so hard to get and even though they have in NY, you still can’t sample anything and they’re always sold out of most stuff and it still costs a fortune to ship. Thanks for this offer!
I took Japanese for two years, but trying to read the magazines – or any media in Japanese – is still way to hard for me!
Father’s Day is tomorrow!!
I’ve been painting my house all day….visiting this website is my “coffee break” since I don’t actually drink coffee.
I only speak French and English fluently, but I can say hello in German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Afrikaans, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Czech, and Inuktitut. Smiles require no translation! 🙂
I speak American English and Guyanese Creole. I wish I spoke Hindi, French, and Korean!!
My iphone wristlet wallet is falling apart. Need to go shopping.
Right now I have clear on my fingers and Essie’s watermelon on my toes.
I went shopping yesterday for fathers day and now im spending the day with my dad before i leave to go home! such a good day
Just two!
Ahhhhh so jealous. Absolutely love Nor Cal and missing SF. 😛 I used to live in Castro Valley and I was able to hop on the BART and go into SF whenever. 😛
If you have the time, you should check out this little restaurant in Japantown that is on the bridge between the two buildings that houses the bookstore (assuming that I’m thinking of the same place). They do some interesting fusion asian food (Japanese style curry pizza anyone? XD). There’s also a bunch of untranslated manga on the walls to flip through or read. XD
just read 4 books in 5 days…insanity! But at least i’m getting more use out of my kindle 🙂
I have Cult Nails on right now 🙂

It is way too hot today to be going to work and doing physical labor.

english and spanish, I took spanish for nearly 10 years, but I seem to have lost it all! I need a refresher! I wish we had a japantown near where I live
My mother sometimes brings home magazines in Chinese and I flip through them to look at fashions and makeup despite not being able to read them. I can speak Cantonese enough to carry on a conversation but can’t read it.
I’m not wearing anything on my nails, as in my line of work, polish would chip easily. I’m wearing my hair down today and without any styling products.
Thank you so much for the giveaway. Cheers!
P.S. the giant pancake photo is cool
It’s pretty hot here today so I have my hair up in a messy bun.
I can speak conversational Mandarin and Cantonese. Throw in 2 years of high school French in there too! 🙂
I like studying languages, but the only one I feel I mastered (besides English, of course) was when I took Latin in high school. Unfortunately, not that many people speak Latin, haha! Took a few semesters of Spanish in college, and can get through ordering at a restaurant or muddling my way through reading a newspaper. Had ONE semester of Japanese and pretty much forgot how to say anything but “the cat is cute.”
It’s mortifying to admit, but I read British gossip rags online. Does that count? The Brits really like to dish the dirt. Was wondering if you have tried a gel manicure and if they’re really all that. Thanks for your generous giveaways.
I speak Spanish best, love the German language and speak at an elementary level, speak a bit of Italian and can read a little French. I love languages and only wish I had an opportunity to use them more often!
Just ordered 40$ worth of Bath and Body Works…
I do flip through magazines in languages I don’t speak, but I still prefer something that I can read! I speak Mandarin Chinese, English, and French fluently, so that’s 3. A bit of Dutch too but I’m too shy/lazy to really use it!

I tried to do a polka dot mani last night. I did my left hand and did not like how it looked. I did not have time to change is, so I just left it. Therefore today, I have a blue and coral polka dot mani on my left hand and plain coral on my right. 🙂
I studied Spanish, Portuguese, and a little bit of Hebrew in college. My Spanish and Portuguese used to be pretty good, but I don’t get much of a chance to practice these days, sadly.

I love Tabs.
I haven’t had a banana split in years, but have been thinking about one all day! The ice cream stand is calling my name.
While I’m only about an hour away from SF I have yet to check out Japan town. I was craving some Vietnamese sandwiches from SF today, yum! I hope you enjoy your weekend!

Something odd – everytime I dye my hair it ends up the same colour (even though I never buy the same colour!).
Such is life. First world problem I suppose, hahaha!
I’ve flipped through some japanese fashion magazines before.
I speak English and Spanish. 🙂
I love reading foreign editions of Vogue–German, Italian, Spanish, Mexican, Brazilian. I flip through various Russian, Chinese, and Japanese magazines–but I’m not good with Cyrillic or any Asian languages. Yet. 🙂
I speak German and Spanish fluently, and have basic facility with French and Italian. My Russian diction is good (for stage purposes), but I do not have any reading or conversational facility.

OMG Karen, I speak two languages and one kinda crappily. Although my one language is suffering from lack of use, I called up my Mom the other day to speak in our mother tongue and I mixed up the words for ring and grape, and basically told her I got the right stones on my grape. She was confused!!!
Dude, I watched the late night showing of Prometheus last night. I’m like confused (have so many questions! plot holes or inconsistencies or just Ridley’s mysteries to decypher) and slightly jumpy today. It’s not groundbreaking like Alien but it makes you wonder about origins. That’s all I can say without wrecking it!!! The husband, who abhors horror/scary movies, was entertained but we debated a lot about WHAT was going on on the scary dark walk home. My hood has never looked more menacing!!!

Also, don’t know if you’ll see this but I’m wearing those Sally Hanson nail stickers and love them. It’s been nine days with no chips, peeling, etcetera.
I need to re-paint my toes so badly, they’re a chipped teal color at the moment! I’m feeling a bright red next!
I would love to be better at languages, but I only ever seem to be able to learn just enough to get myself in trouble 🙂
I think my first comment didn’t go through, got a error message.
Long story short I was raving about the Sally Hansen nail stickers and their staying power!
Omg I would LOVE some pancakes right about now.
Pancakes may be a requirement at my next monthly ladies’ brunch.
I speak English and some French. I’m wearing Orly Haute Red on my nails today.
I speak some Spanish (along with English), but I’m not fluent.

I speak English and German. When I visited Germany and Austria last summer, I bought some magazines. It was hard to follow some of the slang or technical terms, but it was also amazing how many English words they borrowed and used. Sometimes, it felt like I was reading more English than German!
I love ELLE!
Speaking of magazines I hate when I’m in the bathroom and how it’s always some actor with a piercing gaze looking back at me. I feel as if they can see me.
What foundation is worth trying for combination to oily skin? High and low end.
i speak hebrew and english fluently, and studied arabic, spanish, and italian. i want to learn french!
I wish Sephora still had Bourjois
I love Vogue, Elle, etc in any language 🙂
Come on Karen. You’re not too late to give me that birthday present!
Happy Father’s day to all the daddies in the world! You guys are awesome! 🙂
Just watched Sherlock Holmes 2! Such a good movie 🙂
I love Vogue in Italian 😉 And I don’t speak Italian at all.
I’d love to get some beauty products from sephora.
I used to flip through Japanese fashion magazines. They’re super expensive, though!
I learn German now and it’s so difficult.

Today I’m 25w1d and feeling the baby girl move SO much! Definitely need to fix our yard and weed a lot tomorrow though…just need to make sure I have plenty of sunblock on and lots of water to stay hydrated!
I’ve got my hair up in a bun because it’s long (TOO long; I need a cut) and unwieldy. Plus, it was quite humid.
I rarely wear polish on my fingernails because it seems/feels like my nails can’t “breathe.
I can’t read or understand Japanese but I love their fashion magazines all the same! I find that they tend to have a lot more pictures than Western ones, and almost always have some really useful makeup tutorials 🙂
Hi! 🙂 Wonderful giveaway 🙂 I can speak 5 languages. 🙂 In my country it’s lots of brands I can’t get, for example: Wet n wild, Ulta, Sephora, Too faced, NYX and a lots of other brands. Too bad.
I love Sephora, and I hope I win!
We don’t have Urban Decay where I live, and it saddens me 🙁
Currently on my nails I’m wearing Essie Bazooka!

4 languages for me, as I am french living in NYC, learnt spanish over there and hebrew back in ISrael!!!!! And my kids speak now, 3 languages! ;-))
I would love to be able to get Josie Maran products here, as I picked some up in the US when I was there last year, but I can’t buy them here.
Today I’m wearing my hair natural with a little but of Bumble & Bumble styling cream! I’m actually enjoying the fact that I didn’t have time spend time styling it.
Hi Karen. I love Eauropean fashion and art magazines and I’m crazy about Asian art and culture. I really want to go to Asia someday, especially Hong Kong and Malaysia. I try to find beauty blogs from other countries to read also. I think it is great how similar we all are when it comes to our love of beauty products. If the world was run by female beauty junkies the UN would be at a Sephora store and there would be world peace!
Before I retired from the Navy reserves, I used to go to Korea twice a year. I didn’t have a lot of free time while I was there, but I always made it to the Namdaemun Market to get fresh fruit and giant handmade soaps. If there was time I would walk from there to the stores nearby, where I would get Korean cosmetics and skin care. I bought everything from drugstore brands to high end – anything that caught my fancy. I really miss being able to do that.
I used to be fairly fluent in French after 6 years of study in junior high and high school. Now it is quite rusty. Yep, I think I need to immerse myself in it with a trip to Paris!
I never had Korean food before…they opened a place around my area, so I might have to give it a try sometime.
I study linguistics, so I love reading stuff in other languages. My Japanese is really rusty, but going to a Japanese bookstore sounds really fun!
I change my nail polish at least twice a week. Right now I have on Sephora by OPI Natural Environ-mint with Butter London Blagger on the ring fingers. Today I think I’m going to do Butter London Trout Pout or Macbeth with NARS Amchoor on the ring fingers. So summery! 😀
I’m learning Spanish this summer 🙂
I love reading spanish cosmo
My eyelashes are weird-when I apply my mascara to one eye it looks great, the other eye it looks meh.
Is this a valid excuse to buy more mascaras?
I speak Spanish!
Not really foreign to me but I like to look through British Vogue and British InStyle to see the ads for different beauty products.
I grew up on the Tex-Mex border and understand some Spanish, and I can fake the accent pretty okay, but I don’t think quickly enough to be able to speak it. I occasionally flip trough some Spanish magazines.
I speak Spanish, although I don’t get many opportunities to practice these days!
I love reading French magazines! I can’t wait to pick some up when I go in a couple weeks!
Im wearing Zoya- Perrie right now!
I speak spanish and I love Essie nailpolish
I took 8 years of Spanish in from middle school through college and I can read it but not speak it very well. Oh well! At least I can maybe dream about visiting Spain someday 🙂
I would love to learn spanish!
I speak Polish and English. Took Spanish in high school and was great at written tests but not at speaking it. My teacher said I was the only student she ever had who spoke Spanish with a Polish accent!
I love neon on my nails. Such beautiful weather we are having! Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers everywhere:)
Today I’m wearing Sally Hansen’s Magnetics in Red-y Response which btw looks dupe-y enough to be Nails Inc’s Kensington Palace. I speak French and love French Vogue. Well really any of the Vogue editions are excellent.
All the languages I know are dead 😛 Ancient Greek, Latin, and a bit of Coptic! Totally useful in the real world…
I am so excited for Summer thanks for the cos bar piece, I almost forgot to stop by Target and check it out:) xoxo
OPI Makes Men Blush. So understated but yet elegant.
O boy, those pancakes look good!!! (and I just had dinner… for shame!)
I love using the slow cooker when the weather is warm. This way I don’t have to turn on the oven.
I love you Tabs!!!!
My favorite magazine is Allure!
When I was living in Japan, I used to love browsing through the Japanese fashion/decor
magazine even thought I could hardly read the language!
Wearing Layla’s Mercury Twilight on my nails – awesome holo, but off formula!
Yeah, I wish that we had the more sophisticated, Asian sunscreens here in the US! It’s difficult to recognize which online sellers/websites are reputable, you know?
I went through a phase when I didn’t read magazines at all for the longest time. Then one day I just picked up a Marie Clare in the store and started flipping through it and got hooked again. I don’t really have favorites. It changes with my mood. Everything from fashion to book review mags.
I’m craving Mongolian BBQ! So good!
I’ve never looked through an intl magazine but I think it’d be pretty awesome! On my nails, currently, is Vagabondage from MAC =P it’s pretty awesome
I really want to learn Swedish and visit Sweden. Someday!
I just started getting W magazine thanks to a free subscription. I’m loving it!
Thanks for the giveaway, Karen!
Here in Uruguay, there’s just so many things I miss, makeup-wise! Thank heavens for the two magical words: “international shipping”! 😀
I used to read a lot of French blogs, with the vague French knowledge I have. It’s even rustier now, but it was always fun and a challenge 🙂
PANCAAAAAAAAAAAKES!!!!!!! That is all.
I love flipping through Japanese magazines for beauty and fashion tips! My favorites are Non-No and CanCam.
I’ve sat down with the Mango languages program from my local library to learn French. Should’ve taken it in high school and college. I think I’d be flipping through French literature by the Seine eating something exceptional instead of living in boring ol’ Middle America.
my favorite magazine is In Style for Fashion and Bon Appetit for food!
I’m currently in grad school for pt
Spending my day sick after a week layed up with the mumps (!!) but crafting and making some beautiful cards, journals and jewelry. I would die if I couldnt create so thats what keeps me going. Havent left the house and have been totally bummed out. So envious youre going to Japantown! Wish there was one on Long Island! 🙂
I love Netflix recommendations, I’m adding it to the queue in three, two, one …
Its Sunday afternoon so having a movie marathon and laundry sorting 🙂 wanted to go cycling but hubby is a bit unwell. Im lusting after the YSL lipstainso bad. Have u tried it out yet? If I win this I’m definitely getting that for my bday :))
The japanese fashion magazines at kinokuniya are great but so expensive.
I’ve just started taking a Spanish class this summer.
I don’t speak Spanish but I do parle le francais! Now I have an excuse to eat cheese and drink wine. It’s culture!
I just at my left over birthday cake for lunch :S
I did a pedi last night that I really like. It’s Milani one coat glitter in gold glitz with a design in black and teal. It feels very summery, without being neon or overly bright. I love it!
I’m Korean and can’t speak/read Korean! But I do speak a little French. Always thought it was so romantic. 🙂
Nylon is definitely my favorite magazine!
Huge fan of Sephora. Just bought the Color of the Year lip gloss set, which I’m stoked about because the color is Tangerine. Really happy oranges are hot right now because they work so well with my complexion. I also rock Sepora by OPI’s orange nail polish on toes often 🙂
I am currently wearing Milani’s Gold FX on my nails!!!
I started my day with my hair down, but quickly switched to a ponytail because it’s so warm out!
I know nothing about makeup. A contest to win some is a good way to start, yes?
My hair is currently afro puffed ^_^
looking at that new nars set!
I don’t look at mags in a different language but I do listen to wicked in German when I drive home from work.
On my nails is WetnWild Heatwave … perfect for the weather! 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway!
Usually wear my hair in a ponytail. Trying to grow it out and it feels like forever!
Nothing on my nails today, I’m giving them a break! 🙂
Hi Karen! (sorry if this is a double post, my phone voided out the first I think)
I would love to learn Ukrainian. My great grandfather was a bishop in the Ukrainian orthodox church, and from what I’ve been able to learn, a pretty great man. From what I’ve been told, he was a big deal! Unfortunately, most of the information on him is all in Ukrainian. Hopefully one day I will be able to know all the details. Thanks!
I just got the Simply Smooth keratin treatment on my hair and I am not impressed after all the $$$ spent.. 🙁
I love flipping through Japanese and Korean magazines! I get so many ideas =)
I had OPI Glitzerland on my nails until last night……now they are naked.
i’ve learned italian, but i don’t speak it too well. i’ve read a few books that i bought while in italy. i love the language. 🙂
I love Sephora!
Hope you guys have a wonderful day!
I used to be a magazine junkie but not anymore. They don’t entertain me anymore 🙁
I studied basic Japanese but since I don’t use it I have forgotten how to speak Japanese.
Winning this would be a great treat.
All I have on my nails right now is a nail strengthener. I just did a mani and haven’t decided what color to use, but my toenails got a pedicure with Sephora by OPI Go with the Flow-er.
I am a native English speaker, but I speak a little bit of Spanish and Swahili.
I speak English and Tex-Mex.
Just have Zoya’s Myrta on my toes — doing a test run to see what color I want to sport for my high school reunion next weekend. I think this is the winner!
I just took some badly chipped Zoya Skyler polish off my nails yesterday, and I haven’t had a chance to repaint yet!
I love China Glaze For Audrey!! 🙂 Random. I know.
I speak Korean and English! And I really want to master Japanese- Kinokuniya is an awesome store!
I know a little bit of a lot of different languages but I’m not fluent in any of then. I can string together sentences using words in Hebrew, Yiddish, French, Spanish and Latin…all at once. But that’s not very helpful 🙂
Nails are naked today as I’m in between polishes. Just took off Orly Sweet Peacock yesterday–gorgeous bright blue foil!

I would def like to try some more Asian brands of makeup that are not available in Ohio!
I am wearing Essie Play Date and A Cut Above right now, I really wish we could get the Barry M nail polishes in the US!
We just got Netflix! We are so excited!
I’ve been wearing the same crackle nail polish combo for the past two months – I’m totally addicted!
My favorite item to buy at Sephora is the TooFaced cocoa bronzer! It’s perfect and not shiny, and (a little odd..) it tastes just like chocolate! 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway Karen! I’m current rocking Essence Glamorous Life on my nails, it’s a really lovely hot pink glass fleck polish, I love it!
I’m wearing OPI’s ‘Into the Night” (from the new Spider Man collection). I get a mani/pedi next Saturday and I’m leaning towards dark purple.
My family and I are taking our first ever trip to Europe next month! I’d love to treat myself to some warm weather beauty products (hello Smashbox Oil-Free primer and NARS Laguna – you know you want to come with). I’m beyond excited – winning a giveaway would be the icing on the cake! Thanks for doing this.
I am on the hunt for the perfect yellow eyeshadow!
I would love to win this for my aunt, she is make up crazed like us ^.^
my nail polish is all chipped but I plan to repaint tonight using NARS Koliary
Love your site and love Sephora!! Kinokuniya is an amazing store. Hmm, what else… bummed that Mad Men’s over, but super excited for Breaking Bad to start again!! Thanks, Karen!
I’ve been bed-bound with some sort of stomach thing the last few days D: I *seem* to be able to eat solid food and, indeed, drink water again now …
I love Korean BBQ!!!! Must…go…soon…
I’m Puerto Rican and I speak Spanish…more as a second language. But whenever I get my hands on a friend’s People Magazine Espanol….Im done. I’m all in! It’s like I need to read every word in it! I love the gossip…which is so unlike me…then again, I’m Puerto Rican and for us it seems like loving gossip is a must!!! LOL!!! Thanks for the great giveaway!!!
I love the dual-ended concealer stick from Sephora. I think I buy one every time I go to the mall so I don’t run out!

I try to read things in French so I don’t forget it, but it’s slowly slipping away from me…hahaha.

Enjoyed a lazy Sunday today! Of course I’m not really feeling all that great..I do speak some French, I would like to pick it up again!
I speak French and Spanish. I speak French because I grew up in a French speaking community in central Maine and we started studying the language in 4th grade. I speak Spanish because I lived in southern Spain for a few years. Now I live in a really conservative city and I really miss the bolder make-up southern Spain.
Growing out my eyebrows… Seriously it’s the longest process ever! I’ll be more careful with the tweezers from now on! LOL!
Happy Sunday to you! I’m laying on the couch with my hair in a towel! Watching golf and fighting the urge to throw the remote at the golf on the tv!

I already read and speak Spanish, (even though I prefer not to because I speak painfully slow!), and am teaching myself a bit of French this summer before I start graduate school in the fall!
Speaking of international brands, I wish Sephora still carried Shu Uemura – I’d love to test out the lash curler in person!
Bright v-neck tees are my new favorite summer staple. 🙂
I love Vogue Italia, especially their covers. The mag is so different from American Vogue. It’s so much more edgy. Since I’m fairly decent at reading Spanish I can usually figure out the gist of the articles tho they’re in Italian.
i love reading magazines in different langueages, especially the japanese ones like Cancam, Vivi, Nonno etc etc, i get all my latest updates on asian beauty products and fashion from there :3
It was my birthday on Friday, yay Geminis, and I just got gifted some Minx nail decals. I have been getting them done professionally, so excited I can do them at home now! I hope Sephora starts carrying their designs!
I flip thru chinese mags when i’m at the salons. they’re full of gossip even though i don’t understand a word, you can tell from the pics.

I love Korean BBQ (have you tried Brother’s on Geary in SF?) and Kinokuniya in Japantown (crepe place next to it is a must). I wish I could live in SF! 🙂
I wish that Bourjois cosmetics were sold in the US! ASOS delivers to the US but they don’t have the entire line. I am dying to try the Healthy Mix serum foundation and concealer!
Right now I’m wearing Zoya’s Happi on my fingernails 🙂 it’s a really pretty pink duo-chrome!

I’m wearing OPI The Thrill of Brazil to celebrate summer weather.

My hair is at hot mess today. I threw it up in a bun because its too hot today!
I just had 4 teeth pulled so I am makeup free 🙁 My hair is pulled back, pretty boring so I painted my toenails a bright Grass-Green and they make me smile looking at them! So my cats and i are in bed flipping through old editions of Lucky & Marie Claire and entering awesome giveaways from a blog that makes me smile!

I’ve seriously gone Coral, Peach and Mint crazy this spring (soon to be summer). I just can’t stop! IT”S SO PRETTY!
I know a bit of Tagalog and Japanese! I love a lot of Japanese things and wish that there was a Kinokuniya was near me!
I’m currently wearing a brown nail polish, and it’s a shade that looks like milk chocolate 🙁 So I’m going to put a layer of OPI’s gold shatter over it. Hopefully it looks great!
Can we talk about how delicious those pancakes look in your photos? YUM.
