A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

So…my arms have been killing me all week long, and up until a few seconds ago, I’d attributed it to yoga, but now I’m thinking it might have something to do with Brita.

I got this Brita water bottle for Christmas that appears to have been designed for The Incredible Hulk, because that’s how strong you have to be to squeeze it and force the water through the filter thingy attached to the spout.

Good gawd! I’m squeezing so hard that my entire body quakes and veins pop out on my forehead.

Who knows? Maybe it’s just clever marketing on Brita’s part. They get you so worked up squeezing the bottle that you get thirsty and therefore squeeze the bottle even more, LOL!

Anywho, enough about my perpetually parched self. Let’s get to today’s giveaway! 🙂

Win a $50 gift card from Sephora

  • One (1) Sephora eGift card containing $50 sent to the winner by email (international readers, you may opt to receive $50 sent by PayPal instead).

  • There are two ways to enter, and you can do both of them for two chances to win. First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post, a comment about anything at all, like, do you feel like you drink enough water? What’s your favorite brand of bottled water? Do you like the taste of the tap water where you live? What’s your favorite waterproof makeup product? Which makeup and beauty products did you use/wear the most this week? — you get the idea.
  • Second, you can enter by following me on twitter Twitter @karenmbb and retweeting (RT) the following message:
    • Follow @karenmbb and RT to Win a $50 eGift Card from Sephora! http://bit.ly/zxVHq1

  • The deadline to enter is Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 11:59PM (PT).
  • Entrants must enter using a valid email address and/or Twitter account to win.
  • A maximum of two (2) entries per person — one within the comments at the bottom of this post, and a second entry via Twitter addressed to me @karenmbb.
  • Contest is open to individuals of any country who have reached the age of majority according to their local laws (18 in the United States with these exceptions: Alabama and Nebraska, 19; Mississippi, 21).
  • Sephora eGift Certificates can only be redeemed online and are not valid in stores or available for purchase or redemption in Canada. International winners may opt to substitute the Sephora eGift card prize for $50 sent directly to their email address by PayPal instead.
  • Tabs and I (heretofore referred to as “T-Money and K-Dawg”) will select one (1) winner at random from the entries either left in the comments at the bottom of this blog post or addressed to @karenmbb on Twitter.
  • The winner will be announced here within 48 hours of the deadline.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

I pretty much drink exclusively water unless I’m having an afternoon or evening tea. We also got a juicer for Christmas so I’ve been juicing it up (and I keep getting over-excited and throwing in too much ginger root). I’m fortunate to have an excellent water filtration both at my home and work, and I always carry refillable bottles, my favorite being my Platypus bottle that I can fold up into my purse when empty.

I recently bought a bunch of new water bottles and have left them in different places (by my bed, in my purse, at the office, in the living room) so that I will remember to drink more water. Its actually working as I’ve upped my water intake by a couple bottles of water a day!

I love Fiji water, though it might just be the pretty bottle that makes me think it tastes better. I used to train with a coach who had never seen the square bottles before, and always though it was gin – she’s say, why is there a gin bottle in your bag all the time? And I DO like gin, just not for sporting events:)

I make a delicious gingerwater every weekend and drink throughout the week, mix it 50/50 with tapwater. And I only use tapwater because we have the cleanest water on earth here i Iceland:)

    Gingerwater (gingerjuice?)
    100 gr fresh ginger, grated.
2 handfuls of fresh mintleaves, just toss the hole thing in there, sticks and everything.
    juice from two lemons
    juice from two oranges
    1/2 cup of raw sugar.

put everything in að big pot, pour in 1.3 liters of water. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for an hour.
Then you filter it and add 2 more liters of water, bring to a boil and turn off the heat. Let it cool and then you can bottle it.
You can either drink it straight up,1 glass in the morning before breakfast or like me, mix it with water and drink through the day.

You will be peeing all day long!

Do you feel like you drink enough water?
Yes. You don’t really need to drink eight glasses of water a day. Most people don’t think to take into account the amount of water in other things that they drink and consume on a daily basis like juices, soups, coffee, tea, etc. Those all count towards your daily water requirement!

What’s your favorite brand of bottled water?
I don;t have a preference, they all taste the same to me.

Do you like the taste of the tap water where you live?
I hate the taste of tap water, no matter where it is. I never drink it. I have a Brita pitcher that I keep in the fridge and use to fill reusable water bottles.

What’s your favorite waterproof makeup product?
    Mascara.

Which makeup and beauty products did you use/wear the most this week?
I haven’t worn any makeup this week, so I’d have to say that the beauty product I used the most was my face wash (which I use every day).

This may seem strange, but I do not like the flavor of most waters. We had an artesian well in our house when I was child and the water was really good that came out of it. I have never liked tap water since we moved from that house. We currently use a PUR water filter on the faucet and then a Brita water filter in a pitcher.

I drink TONS of water every day. It’s a habit I developed when I was in the military stationed in the tropics. I really hate getting thirsty and dehydrated because it ends with me feeling tired and headachy. Our tapwater here tastses worse than anywhere I’ve lived by FAR, so I’ve become a bit of a connoisseur of bottled water. Smartwater and Glaceau are my faves, but I’m also cheap, so I go with my third favorite most of the time: Target brand! TYes, really like Market Pantry water. The price is right too.

The tap water where I live actually isn’t bad, and it’s very consistent from season to season. When we lived on the east coast, the particular ‘burb we lived in actually switched its source of water twice every year, which also wreaked havoc on my skin. So I’m pretty happy with the consistency at our place.

I want to talk about Sephora. I go there ALL the time but yesterday I sat down and had my first mini makeover. It was so much fun! I ended up buying the Laura Mercier foundation (oil free) and I think I really like it. Of couse I bought other things that I picked out….Kat Von D lip stain, yummy and Too Faced lipstick. They were so nice and friendly there…….. it was a good ending after a busy day at work. A Sephora gift card is a fabulous contest. Thanks! Enjoy your blog every day.

Hi Karen! I also purchased a Brita bottle a few months ago but every single time I use it, I end up wearing more water than actually drinking it. I continually check to make sure that I close it correctly but it never fails (or in this case, it never works!). I am now considering the Brita one that you add to your faucet – surely I can’t screw that up……..?!

I think bottled water is kind of a scam, haha. The tap water in my area is wonderful. I suppose people with less-than-great tasting tap water may be justified in buying bottled water, but I think it’d be easier to just buy a filter! That’s what most bottled water is anyway. It’s also less regulated that city water supplies, so it’s more likely to have contaminants. That’s something most people don’t know. Anyway, hope you’re having a great Saturday! I’ve got to get back to studyin! =)

I drink a ton of water, I’m ALWAYS thirsty. I don’t love our tap water, but it’s pretty good if it’s been refrigerated, and better than other places I’ve lived! I grew up in a rural area drinking well water, so a lot of water here tends to smell and taste like pool water for me, haha. SmartWater is probably my favorite bottled water.

I’ve been wearing a lot of L’Oreal Colour Riche balms this week, I love them! I’ve also been using DiorShow mascara, which is really good except that it’s rose scented, which I find kind of weird.

HAHA Sounds like an intense water bottle! Hopefully you won’t have man hands and biceps by the time you stop feeling sore. Or worse yet, have just one HUGEE bicep since I think most of us tend to drink from a water bottle using the same hand every time except certain situations haha

Speaking of water bottles, I saw the commercial for the water bottle with a built-in filter. I don’t know why, but it got me jazzed up as soon as I saw it, and I’ve only seen it once! I want onee!

There is this skin test that can show you if youre dehydrated or not. Simply pinch the skin on the back of your hand and hold for 30 seconds. When you let go, it should spring back immediately. If you can actually see it slowly flattening, then thats too slow and you should drink more water!

Also, I wrote a paper for one of my classes about the impact of bottled water on the environment, so it’s completely changed the way that I feel about bottled water. It’s so easy for me to drink a ton of water in the summer but not so much in the winter… I always want something warm to drink.

I’m good at drinking lots of water. It’s basically what I drink 95% of the time.

the tap water in LA doesn’t taste very nice at all: hard and very chlorinated. filtering and chilling it makes it palatable, but it still doesn’t compare to soft scottish water!

I had my first time professional facial experience a few days ago and my esthetician told me not to wash my face with tap water because it had bacteria in it! She told me to boil a pot of tea and use that instead. Weird, but I’ll have to look into that one.

The tap water where I live tastes pretty good, although Dasani is pretty good. I do need to drink more though, lately its been too much coffee or iced tea. Lately I’ve been in love with lush so I’ve been trying out their new A Million Kisses lip tint which is a beautiful red color, you should check it out if you haven’t already!

I drink a lot of water… tap when I’m home, bottle when I’m out. But my favorite thing to drink is herbal tea! I LOVE Celestial Seasonings and Yogi teas.

I’m still debating if I should get the naked 2 palette. I got to try it when it first came out and I sold it to a friend in need. Wasn’t too impressive. But with all of the hype, I feel like I have to have it. Maybe I’m just an addicting shopaholic.

I can easily drink over a half-gallon of water a day. I started when I was trying to lose weight and the habit stuck.
I use crystal light and some other low or calorie-free mix-ins when it starts to be too much. Crystal light iced tea with lemon is addictive even though it doesn’t taste like tea, exactly. It’s still awesome and makes drinking water more enjoyable!

About Makeup and Beauty Blog

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
